Penguins *******!

Much needed two wins. Pens are 99.9% assured of a playoff spot now, magic number is down to 6. Wings in danger of continuing to drop while Caps look to keep moving up. Boston showing spark and trying to keep Ottawa at bay, but Panthers still a sleeper shot with two games against the Bruins left. Should be an interesting run down the stretch.

The Bruins look like they have all the lucky charms right now. If there were ever a team I don't want to face in the PO it's them.

Big win last night. Unfortunately I didn't stay up until the end, I had to work. Glad to see they pulled it out.

Interesting

Teams with lowest contributions from young players(includes forwards and defencemen aged 24 and under as of Feb. 1)

1. Pittsburgh. Sid is a kid no longer. And the Penguins remaining in a win-now mode for years has really hurt their ability to incorporate youth in a significant way. With Sidney Crosby approaching 28 and Evgeni Malkin already there, Pittsburgh’s core is moving out of its prime as the NHL continues to get younger and younger. The highest-scoring Penguin 24 and under this season has been defenceman Simon Despres (17 points) – and they already unloaded him to Anaheim. Olli Maatta’s injury issues have hurt the Pens’ ranking, but even with him healthy, they’d remain bottom three. This is a growing concern.

Yeah, having arguably the two best players in the game on your roster will do that.....a catch 22......or 87....or 71. And the window is slowly creeping closed. They'll probably dump Bennett and Poulliot next.....

Tampa Bay has Stamkos, $8.3 million and Lecavalier @ $7.9 million - they seem to be doing OK with young talent.

2 more games left with Philly - just hope the Pens win and keep their heads and escape without more injuries

game is on NBCs Wed rivalry night

With the team being eliminated and a lame-duck coach that is angry...
Flyers are gonna goon it up so probably a good idea to hide Crosby in the locker room.
Maybe just send in your entire AHL team.

that's quite funny. They can't call up a dman from the AHL due to no cap space. Can only skate five again with all the injuries. That's where Philly will beat them tonight. They like to pound the defenseman and the Pens are limited. A spoiler Philly team with nothing to lose is a dangerous team, for the Pens. This team can't keep their cool.

Not just that it's the Cryers, but it's also a nationally televised game. Pens have been downright awful on those. I suppose I could hope they at least get a point out of it, but I won't hold my breath.

Letang's wife could heal me too

then again I might have taken the brown acid by mistake

Holy sheeeeeet does Lovejoy suck..can we just cut him and bring up a youngin?

Kunitz sucks, Sutter sucks, Martin sucks, Scuderi sucks and Lovejoy is abysmal.

Cut em all

the D HAS to be tired. Losing Erhoff, LeTang and then not able to bring up a 6th Dman will turn out to be a disaster. Too much ice time for the five that are playing.

Fire all the GM's and the cap guy too

That may be, but it doesn't explain why the offense couldn't score in a Chinese whorehouse.

Pathetic. Other than Fluery, Crosby, Malkin, Letang this team just isn't very talented. I mean, the effort is there, but they are just not that good. They have NO net front presence. All they do is kick the puck around the boards and take the occasional shout from outside. Almost no hope for cleaning up a rebound. Doubtful we get past the first round in playoffs.

Missing the playoffs is still possible. Boston is just 4 points back, and Ottawa is 7 points back with a game in hand. This team is so inconsistent, that losing 4 or 5 in a row is not out of the question.

Losing badly to the Flyers ...at home for the 1000nth time....can't be a great sign.
It was like the Pens were playing rope-a-dope the entire game and never snapped out of it.

Oh well, at least Rinaldo didn't cheap-shot anyone into retirement.

GO PENZ!
