I think it is something like 12-5 on power plays this series... that is ridiculous, especially when you look at the amount of interference/obstruction that has been going on off of the puck. I can remember when the Pens were as soft as butter and were getting mugged by teams and the experts all said that the refs tried to keep power plays even as the reason why the Pens were not on the power play all the time... Where are those refs now?

Missed the game Saturday night and they won. Perhaps I should miss tonight's too. But I won't. So sorry, here comes another L.

It looks to me like the Rangers have decided they are the better team. That said, they gotta at least call this **** even. I can't blame the Rangers. I would do the **** they are doing if I knew I wouldn't get called for it. I do not know how you don't call a hook when Lapierre had a potential breakaway. 30 seconds later, Rangers goal. I had no expectations the Pens would win this series. But come on. Some of the **** the Rangers are getting away with is blatant. Whatever. At least the Pens are competing. More than you could say a month ago. Too many mistakes, not enough offense. This team needs to get younger, fast.
 
Yea, that loss woke up the Rangers and the Pens are two steps behind them. Looks like two different teams from Sat. Sloppy. Sloppy. Sloppy.

Refs screwed the Pens again. No hooking. Complete bs. Also seen on the tribs site that Rutherford called Rossi a decking jerk lol
 
If the Pens can play three periods like they did the third last night, I like their chances.
 
Very good effort in the 3rd....but ya can't play like you're in molasses for two then turn it on and expect to win. So glad I'm not the only one bitching about the officiating anymore.....BOTH rags goals immediately following uncalled penalties. It's gotten beyond biased and the league has officially returned to the "garage" league status that Mario detested and named and I think he should be on the phone demanding some answers. Tough to beat the rags and the stripes. ******* fake bake lundquist should be embarrassed over that flop ( yet another uncalled penalty).

I really can't complain about a seriously depleted team giving the Prez Trophy winner a series like they are. They really are "emptying the tank" as my son said and this team is showing something I think they lacked for awhile....heart! Seems Kunitz has found some of his old mojo AND stuck up nicely for Sid. Chorney, Dumoulin and Cole all again deserve mention and regardless of how this year ends give me hope for next year.

Was surprised at no white out. What's up with that?
 
Shrek invisible once again. His passing was horrid. I think that play in game one where he went head first into the boards did something. He hasn't done anything since except look a step behind and lost.

Rossi get jacked by Rutherford - ha ha



After exiting a media elevator and while walking with other reporters to the Penguins' dressing room, Rutherford addressed this columnist, a frequent critic since his hiring last June, in an obscenity-laced diatribe.

“Thanks for your support,” Rutherford said repeatedly.

“You're ******* jerk,” Rutherford said repeatedly.

Rutherford followed the jerk comment with a suggestion to “go sell ice cream now,” then a challenge to look him in the eye, which I did while explaining my role as Trib Total Media's lead sports columnist.

My role is to provide opinion.

“Well, your opinion is **** ” Rutherford said

Sorry guys, watched the whole game, which looked a lot like Game 1. I seriously don't think I've seen this team win a game on TV in about 2 months, which I believe was a game against the Crapitals back in Feb. I better tune out tomorrow.
 
The Pens need to put that effort from the back half of the 3rd in for an entire game. I know - tough to do. Also, the refs shut down in the last 5 minutes. There were countless penalties by the Rangers especially in the last 2 to 3 minutes that the refs just ignored. I guess letting them play is good but they need to be consistent during the game and from game to game.

Rutherford lashes out at columnist

Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford apparently lost his cool Monday night after his team went down 2-1 in their first round series against the New York Rangers.
Rutherford went after Pittsburgh Tribune columnist Rob Rossi who has been a critic of Rutherford since he replaced Ray Shero last summer.
While sharing an elevator together following the game, Rossi said Rutherford called him a "(expletive) jerk" repeatedly and told him to "go sell ice cream

A couple weeks ago Rossi wrote a column about Rutherford's failure so far as Penguins' GM and then wrote another harsh piece on the first day of the playoffs where he said it was Rutherford's fault for the poor season instead of head coach Mike Johnston.

For the record, anyone portraying some Rutherford tirade is flat-out wrong. I was next-closest person and could barely hear him 5 feet away.

This was a conversation being held between two people clearly intended to be exactly that. Portraying the GM as vocally blowing up is a lie.

Larger issue here: One media outlet in town has a major hatchet out for one of the teams it covers. That's a real problem.

One last thing: It's a damn shame a good reporter/person like @JoshYohe_Trib caught in garbage like this. Wish he'd come work for me
 
I'm with Rossi. Rutherford screwed the 'Canes up now he's here doing the same. No one can look at the trade of an up and coming top 4 d man for a never was has been as quality work.
