Penguins *******!

Watching the Islanders and Washington tonight you really see how all the lost players show in the playoffs. Crisp passing big hits movement of puck,

Try Montreal and Ottawa as well, talk about great hockey, weather you like the teams or not. Got to love the NHL playoffs

Islanders giving the Craps all they can handle. 3-2, 2nd Int. Why does every goal Ovechkin scores, it's like he just won the Cup?

At least Ovy shows up in big games.

Isles blow it bigtime. Preds light it up against Chicago. ******* Habs get all the luck and Engelland's brawl at the end only highlight for the flames. Lots of good games.

I've seen what Rutherford and Johnston has done and I'm not impressed. If they have to make Babcock an offer he can't refuse then go for it. Go after Randy Carlyle for all I care. Bring in a staff that knows how to build and win. I feel they settled and they are worse than last year. If they clear out the old guys and bad contracts, so be it. They have no picks to work with, the current roster is a mixed bag of nuts and they are very injury prone. Not a bright outlook for this team. A sweep should get this process moving, unfortunately.

Ownership must not care too much that management has gone against what they said last summer. The team only got older, and... got worse.

Exclusive interview: Mario Lemieux, Ron Burkle

DK: The root of any successful franchise is the draft. How big of a problem was the drafting?

Lemieux: It’s a problem. We’ve drafted well on defense. We’ve got some great prospects coming up, guys who are still in Wilkes-Barre, in juniors. We haven’t done as well at forward, obviously, but we’ve got some defensemen, some young guys we feel can step in over the next year or two.

DK: Why wouldn’t there have been a recognition earlier on that this team wasn’t tough? I mean, you could see in training camp that wasn’t the case.

Lemieux: (Shrugs)

DK: Is this roster too old?

Burkle: That’s part of what we’re talking about right now with the younger guys. You can look at the draft and say what we did or didn’t do, but we’ve got forwards and D-men who we have drafted and didn’t always take advantage of them or done a lot with them. So we have ended up with an older team. When we do see our younger guys, we see a lot more energy, a lot more of what we’d like to see in our game. So maybe those guys at the Garden were playing a little bit ahead of their ability. They made up with their energy.

Burkle: Frankly, the salary cap situation is going to drive that anyway. With a cap system, you can’t just have a bunch of senior people on the team. You can’t afford to.

DK: On that note, this team has been guilty, at least in my estimation of not giving its younger players a chance. I’m not going to paint Simon Despres as Bobby Orr, but he didn’t get a chance. It’s the regular season, you’re on your way to 51 wins, and no one ever found about the kid, you know?

Lemieux: Yeah.

Burkle: Agree with that 100 percent.

(when asked about players such as Despres, etc.)

Burkle: On and on and on. So we haven’t given those younger guys a chance. We haven’t gotten that right mix on the ice.

We’re a team that’s been talking about finding forwards for Sidney all this time. We haven’t been drafting those forwards, and we’ve given up some younger players along the way. That has to change.

so after all that talk about getting younger, they went and traded away Despres anyway - so who is running this ship?

if they don't show any signs of desperation for 60 minutes tonight, then book the tee times tomorrow morning. I expect hitting and a lot of speed and shots on King Henry. Anything less is not accepted.

I see no change in the lines or line-up tonight from Game 1 - going on faith I guess

This draft lottery thing has to be the most retarded thing I've watched in some time. They had to delay the start of our game for that?

Rangers suck!
