Pens hockey 21-22

We had a team of the, and put them out to pasture to give the ice to the same old same old.
They have not gotten past round 1 since 2018 with the same core group of players....I'm all for nostalgia but how much better are they expected to get in their mid-late 30s?

I was referring to the young team we had before Sid and Geno came back this season.

All the more painful
New ownership might not be as nostalgic for the old guard but if trades are made I would not be surprised to see the Pens trade their promising up and comers and draft picks before they consider trading one of the core players.

Right. And that is super lame.

They have to be at least considering moving Malkin. Have to be. His liabilities far outweigh anything positive he brings to the Pens. Been that way a couple years now.

Sid at least is contributing. His numbers are down from his heyday, but he’s not out there ******* **** up every other shift.

This “core” isn’t winning another championship. The supporting cast isn’t capable of carrying this team for even a small stretch. Hell, at this point, the supporting cast is struggling to carry its own weight.

They almost have to make changes. We’ve seen this movie before.

The supporting cast was kicking butt before Sid and Geno came back.

I agree and I'm definitely no hockey analyst but they definitely don't play as sharp when the core is playing...That said that was also early season hockey and mainly against bottom feeder teams...

Things are ramping up now and teams are getting more focused while we appear to be losing focus. Plus some of the cast may also be hitting a wall. Either the old or young player wall. It's still a wall. ;)

Now watch the Pens destroy the Rangers today and I'll have to get my foot surgically extracted from my mouth.

The weak link is Malkin. He just doesn’t gel with anyone. Aside, I’m fine with them going out on their terms. It’s no loss on me personally if they don’t sniff another cup for 2 or 3 years.

I suggest to follow WBS. Guys like Poulin, Legare, PO Joseph, D’Orio, Lindberg. Along with guys already in Pittsburgh like Guentzel, Marino, maybe Rodrigues.

The future looks ok imo

I would love to follow them better. I can't find games on line.

The ahl is hard to follow for free. I don’t know if they have any special deals going around this time of the season.

Hockey is 82 games a season. I don’t follow every game for that matter. Life is just too busy to constantly follow for all that. I had an easier work/life balance in 2015 and 2016 where I was able to watch all 82 and the playoffs. Needless to say I got burnt out. The Pens and Dawgs are my #1’s however I am in contentment mode still.

So from my perspective and advice to cull your guys’ worries. Definitely check out some WBS and Wheeling games and highlights. There is a lot to be hopeful about.

The focus here seems to be on Jarry, Desmith and whoever that other goalies name is that is currently up in Pittsburgh.

However D’Orio and Lindberg are the future. The Pens seem to be trying to develop guys long term rather than going with the Rutherford all in now mentality. Let the core group be, it is what it is. I’m not worried and am excited to see what the likes of Poulin, Legare bring

Let's go PENS!

DJ, FWIW, I'm picking up the over the air feed on ABC. I don't think I have ever seen a hockey game on ABC.

Pens are still trying to figure which goal they are supposed to shoot at. 0 SOGs so far..

Some really nice passing between Letang and Malkin in front of the goal during their first and only power play. Just shoot the fn thing!

This is a really fun game so far. We can play better, but the second has been ours much of the time.

Love old school hockey.

Here's hoping that the Caps don't go to the playoffs.
