Pickens a no show at Russ' throwing drills

He got more out of AB than anyone else.
Lol. Tomlin let AB do anything he wanted while with ZERO consequences. While others were held to a standard. And in the end we won nothing....but hey. AB got himself stats. I will take Hines over AB any day.

I wish I had a Lamborghini SUV to wreck in a moment of stupidity.
All I had was an old Celica :(
Antonio Browns baby-momma had a Lambo SUV and could not park the thing for ****. It’s like she was trying to park it that way.

I'd take Hines any day as well. But everybody makes this assertion that Tomlin let AB do anything. Maybe. Maybe not...we were not there. What should have been done different? It's all speculation. I think Brown was a time bomb ready to blow pretty much since his youth. It was a matter of time. I don't think some hard discipline would have done anything. I've worked with a lot of high risk, at risk kids over the years. That hard @ss approach, as much as I would prefer to use it, tends to be detrimental for most. Not all, but most. They shut down. This has been a hard thing for me to accept, as I am a pretty old school guy.

The imposter Greg Lloyd knows. He knows all.

People always rave how Tomlin was able to avoid Brown showing what an ******* he was. Anyone ever consider what his trade value was before teams knew what he was or how much damage he did to the team culture.

I think I remember Buffalo wanting to give us thier 1st pick for him.

Who Did the Bills take that year 9th overall? a reach?

I'm not raving about anything. Pointing out that the scenario may be different then the standard "Tomlin let him get away with anything" is not raving. It is pointing out that things many times are not that simple. Hell, maybe I am wrong. Maybe Tomlin did let him get away with anything. But none of us know for sure.

It's 2015. Put yourself there and pretend you don't know what happened since. What would have been a trade that would not have had Steeler fans going nuts...in that moment? Draft picks are a crap shoot, even 1sts. Brown at that time may have been one of the best WRs I've ever seen (and I'm old)...the stuff he could do.

There are so many rules and regulations now about what can and can't be done with teams and players ........... I would be more concerned if he doesn't show up for any OTA's with team.
These QB / WRs get togethers in sunny locations mean very little... and it takes away precious off season time to race exotic cars and get into trouble with the law.......

Well said, being an exotic Hybrid owner myself, I understand where you are coming from.

Brown could’ve very well been the next great of the nfl. I don’t blame burficts hit. AB’s issues have been reported years preceding that hit.

The nfl around that time was under heavy fire for cte/concussions. Brown found an opportunity to show his true colors and had something to fall on/blame because of said hit.

Hindsight, would you trade him?

Growing up in a ghetto environment myself. Some of these kids are gonna do what they do regardless of discipline.

Having a healthy household does help. I have cousins who grew up single parents who looked fine and had good careers and recent have had similar traits/crashes as what they grew up in.

I’ve just accepted ghetto is gonna ghetto eventually

No, I would not have. Too special as a player. You have to try to make it work. I'm not trading a proven great player in his prime for picks.

Ben was also in his prime. I think I would’ve made the trade myself and invest in the defense at that time

Yep. Total @ss clown.

He kept Antonio Brown at a Hall of Fame level for 6 years, from 2013 to 2018. Judging by the way things went for Brown at his other stops did you ever think that Tomlin handled him as best as could be? How should have he been handled differently? In the years when he was producing at the Hall of Fame level? Not now, with the typical 20/20 backwards vision. If Tomlin goes all hard core, he more than likely melts down sooner. Then that would have been Tomlin's fault, too. I've read people say..."They shouda traded him!!!" Yeah, right. Could have you seen the meltdown here if they would have traded him when he was at his peak in those years?

The discussion shouldn't be on how Tomlin handles divas because these divas aren't handled well by anybody. It should be about avoiding divas as much as possible. But the problem is the divas tend to be the most talented. It's only gonna get worse with NIL. These guys who are so used to having their way on everything, NIL takes that to steroid level. And I am not necessarily against NIL...but it sure won't help.

That’s a lot of what holds back some posters……… the ”think“ part.!!!

Great post and thanks for all your great ones along the way.

As far as Pickens NOT showing up, who cares??? It was NOT a mandatory Team sponsorship.

What if he shows, and gets hurt???

Sorry, but the OP seems to scream a lot of “the sky is falling” on a lot of topics. I wonder if there is some kind of medication that might help, orther than “bad Tomlin burgers”

Yeah, I understand what you are saying...but, in the moment then would have you made a deal? We have the benefit of hindsight now. It isn't an easy question for sure. They'd have been trading a (at the time) future HOFer for who knows. At that time, if he gets traded, they had Bryant who you couldn't count on, Wheaton who I guess was a dime a dozen...trading Brown may have left them not good at all there, with Ben in his prime.

I wouldn’t read much into this. For all we know he had plans prior to Russ setting this up. If he misses OTA’s or any mandatory training then I would be concerned. I’m never a “no” on trading any player. Would always listen to offers. That said we don’t have much of anything behind him and when he had a competent quarterback he showed us he is an elite player in the NFL. I wouldn’t trade him unless it included multiple first round picks.

Buying a Lambo SUV is just criminal in itself. An SUV? Really!? Ugh. Get the real thing. Not that I would buy a Lambo if I had that kind of coin anyway.

I'd snatch up a McLaren 720s and go on a track tour around the country.
