1. George Pickens would not have good numbers if he was WR2 or WR1 here.
2. Not having good numbers would bring out the bad attitude.

Obviously he needs a good quarterback to get him the ball, something he never had even once here. But I will admit he's a beast and a better WR than DK. Right now, I'd say he's top 5 and will get paid accordingly.
As for Tomlin being the reason, I'm pretty sure there was a guy here who tore it up for 5-6 years under Tomlin.

Are we going to also bring up Tomlin's playoff success his first few seasons to evaluate his coaching in 2025?
What does WR production have to do with playoff success? Do you think the Cowboys are going to make the playoffs?? The two have nothing to do with one another. SMH

You have a two tier problem between not having a # 2 and a mediocre offensive line. Every wide receiver combo in the NFL that goes over 1,000 per season for both guys(and there are plenty) beg to differ with what you are saying. I just had that discussion with someone here not long ago who was trying to discredit the idea of a #2 and I listed the many 1 and 2 combos that excel in the NFL.
Now, the mediocre offensive line is helped by having that # 2 especially if he's a great possession guy...think Hines Ward. They are helped because you can scheme for that # 2 and your tight ends coming open quick so the ball can come out quick....
So, now as a defense you can't sit comfortably in your 2 high shell as James Harrison said on his podcast " They had the one safety leaning over to DKs side not even disguising it." And if you don't know what that is saying, it's your opponent saying "your other pass catchers suck and we know it." You have a good # 2 that can make possession catches get fed frequently in a game and you see an opposing D start sliding into 1 high and bring a safety down to help the linebackers on the crossing routes and outs. Now DK is turned loose. It's not rocket science. And of course that scenario is different if you have a consistent running game as well...we don't.
I'll also address the " You won't even hardly use a # 2 in Arthur Smith's offense." argument many around here misunderstand. There is no such thing as an Arthur Smith offense...just like there isn't an Andy Reid offense or Shanahan offense..or anyone you can think of. All modern NFL offenses are descended from Bill Walsh's West Coast Offense. Sure things have changed where you run out of single back or empty and the QB not under center, but it's basically still the same offense with things that have been added like RPOs, zone running, pistol formations, etc. Do you think Brady won all those Super Bowls with some unique and brilliant new offense? Nope, thank or curse Bill Walsh.
Having said that, all NFL offenses customize their philosophy out of that West Coast schematic core to the personnel they have....are you following? So " Arthur Smith's offense" can change on the fly dependent on personnel...because they ALL can...on any team. Do some OCs have a preference they lean toward? Of course they do, but a smart one adapts. Remember Todd Haley at KC before he came to the Steelers? He had a running back duo(forget the guys names) and he pounded every opponent with those guys. Came to Pittsburgh had Ben, AB, Wallace, and later Martavis Bryant...and it became bombs away.
I have no doubt Smith would change his play calling if he had a legit #2.
And the guys you mention(like Jefferson) I don't intimately know what their team personnel looks like...Do they have a good running game? A good O-line? A mobile QB throwing to them? Things that change the dynamic from team to team.

They’re losing because of their terrible defense, not Pickens. Imagine Pickens putting up those numbers in Pittsburgh from 2022-24 when they had the 10th, 8th, and 6th ranked defenses.
The problem is that Tomlin considers the passing game a necessary evil.
Pickens would not have had the same success here. Can't argue with that. But why? Why won't Tomlin adapt and allow his coordinators to run a modern offense that is flexible enough to adapt to its players' strengths?

He doesnt have a franchise QB to throw to them for one...let's start there. 2nd of all what n the world have you been watching the last two years to think that AS is at all capable of running such a offense???

I agree with that. It's a damn shame we can't watch that. Remember the excitement for that short period of time when you thought they'd have DK and Pickens?
What I am taking issue with is this idea that if Pickens was in a better offense and getting more targets he wouldn't be that headcase. He is getting all those things in Dallas and still is.
Against the Raiders. Does anyone think even that happens if they are playing Philly?
I won't speak for him Desert Steel, but I know I object to the idea that Tomlin is Captain Conservative based on what we saw during those years. I think he will open it up if he feels comfortable doing it. Now, I think he is at fault for assembling that talent that makes him uncomfortable, or not developing the talent to make him comfortable. But I think in the right circumstances he has no problem opening it up as evidenced by those years referenced.
Bingo, I'm not blaming DK for lack of production, it's Tomlin and his fear of throwing the ball, but all the Tomlin homer's cry, but he doesn't have the QB blah, blah, blah, well it's his roster, he's bringing in these QB's. Since Haley left, this offense has looked pretty much the same regardless who the coordinator was.
And like I've brought up a few times, Ben's last year with a horrible Oline, Dionte, Chase, Ray-Ray and Canada, that team averaged more passing yards per game than we are now with Rodgers, a top 4 paid WR, and a TE that had 88 catches last year from Tua.
Remember when everyone said Ben was holding Canada's offense back because he didn't want to line up under center or use play fakes and turn his back to the D. Well right now we line up in shot gun almost 70% of the time and we run less play fakes than every team but 2 or 3 (paraphrasing, they were talking about his yesterday on the radio).
Disclaimer this is in no way trying to talk Ben up, just pointing out how similar everything still is with different players and different OC's.
It's not being a Tomlin homer to point out he doesn't have those things but...now read closely, it is largely his damn fault he doesn't. I don't blame him for recognizing he doesn't have the roster to just let it fly, but I blame him for not acquiring or developing the talent to do it. And he doesn't have it. They paid DK like a 1 and he isn't. The line isn't developing as fast as you'd like, although I think it has improved somewhat just by playing together. They stupidly bring in older QBs who want to do things their way, so they are running some mish mash offense instead of just doing the things their OC likes to do and has shown in the past he can create.

Listened to PFT this morning on the way to work. First off, Florio is a HUGE GP fan. Having said that, they continually make the comparison of PIT vs DAL in the use of GP. That PIT made a huge mistake letting GP go and signing DK. NOTE: Not going into the DK contract here.
I am in my truck screaming, this comparison is apples to bananas. Yes, they are both fruit but completely different in play and personality. In Dallas GP can thrive with his type of game and a really good quarterback in Prescott. Put DK in that same system, with CeeDee on the other side of DK in Dallas and now DK is great. Not even comparable.
Good for GP in Dallas. I believe there will be a time, if not this year, then next year where DAL needs a particular win, either divisional or playoff, and GP will explode mentally and cause DAL to lose. DK is not that person at all.
