I get your point but I think it's more that the offense is an afterthought for Shades and he wants to win with defense.
Works okay in the regular season but not so much in the playoffs when you face consistently good teams who can put up points.

I think Shades is so damn arrogant that he thinks he knows what's best for the offense and tries to run that too. I don't care what anyone says, the streak of 3 playoff wins in 13 seasons all started when 1. Cowher's players started leaving and 2. he started taking control from LeBeau.
