Pirates 2018

Playing down to the loser Mets, I think they caught the same disease the Steelers have.

Classic match-up from the late 80s early 90s before everything went to ****. Let's go Bucs!

The Cubs and Brewers have both made major trades to get better.

Of course the Pirates will not do **** to build on this momentum they currently have.

Another starting pitcher could make a big difference.

Well they just traded for the Rangers closer to be the 8th inning set up man. They gave up a pretty highly ranked prospect and another unnamed prospect to get it done.

I agree. Don't think the Pirates will make a move. They might stand pat and defend it.

Kela is Back end bullpen help. We need help getting to the back end of the bullpen.

Archer is in.
Meadows, Glasnow, and another player off to Tampa.

Can't blame management this year. They add a starter and top end reliever. By mid 2019 starting rotation could be Taillon, Archer, Musgrove, Keller, Williams/Kuhl with a solid bullpen backing them up.
Still have to play well to make 2018 playoffs, but they have a much better team going into 2019.

The key is none of these are rental players. The problem with giving up value for rental players is that in 3 years, you're the KC Royals, and there's no guarantee that the rentals will get you a title like KC. The guys the Bucs got will be here next year, so we'll have a contending team.

Kela and Archer both great acquisitions, although curious who 3rd player is. My guess is someone from 2017 class, right?

I'm shocked.

I never thought I'd see the Pirates pull the trigger on a talent like Archer.

It will help them this year, but it will give them a real chance to contend in 2019.

Meadows was a steep price though.

I’m not thrilled about the price for Archer. These moves are all about the future. It would still take a miracle to get a wild card this year.

Playoffs this season is still possible.
Just gotta play a good stretch.

2019 though. Man! Hopefully.
Pirates are long overdue compared to the Pens and Steelers.

Bucs Win!

Yeah, but it's a trade - you give up something you have to get something you need. I think pitching is what the team needs and they did that with Archer and Kela. The starting rotation has a solid arm added to it and we really need bullpen help. Now it's one game at a time and they get bigger and better every night!

GO BUCS!

Good win tonight.

Archer definitely showed some nerves tonight and the fielding did not do him any favors in his last inning, but he's going to be good for the Pirates.

That arm is amazing.

I still cannot put my trust in Polanco just yet, as he's had these great stretches before, only to proceed to suck, but he has been an MVP-caliber player the past couple months.

Yeah Polanco has been killing it since June(roughly 1.000 OPS). Hope he keeps putting it together.

Bucs got to get back in the win column tonight. I think have to at least split this series with SF to stay in the good light. Can't lose three of four with a two game series in Minnesota looming.

LET'S GO BUCS!!

2017 #1 Baz as the PTBNL in the Archer trade.

Good Lord, Meadows, Glasnow AND Baz. Good grief! Archer better be awesome for the next couple years.

That's a lot of capital. They can maybe flip Archer for a ton in a year or two if they fix him, but they def paid 110¢ on the dollar.
