Playoffs Just for Fun

If Tomlin gets all this credit because the team is finally showing signs of life vs the weak part of the schedule does he get any credit for the first half of the season when the team was either sleep walking, disinterested or outright pissing down its leg?

Asking for a friend

Unfortunately Tomlin is exactly what many here think he is- Average
And it shows year after year
The standard

I’m the friend and curious minds want to know………………………

He gets credit for his body of work, NOT COTY though As some may think.

Currently he is trending up…………… to average.

Salute the nation

The Steelers are NOT a better football team. They are beating shltty opponents like the Raiders, Panthers, Falcons, and Colts by one score. If they manage to get past the Ravens with a second-string QB (which they couldn't do at home the first time a few weeks ago) and the crappy Browns, and somehow end up in the playoffs, then they'll get destroyed by the Chiefs in the first round. Just like they got destroyed by Buffalo and Philadelphia.

It's not just the Freiermuth/Humphrey situation. Tomlin's been overvaluing skill position players in the draft for a decade. You have to acknowledge that.

You can keep telling me for the 101st time that you aren't a Tomlin fan -- I never said that you were. But you're sure starting to sound like one.
I agree w/ most of this, but it is how we are beating the ****** teams. We have switched from 35-40 passes to a clock chewing run game. Last night we used a 6 man front against the Ravens and barely let Bush on the field. Of course we should have done these things much sooner, but whoever made the choices deserves some credit. I also feel yesterday was one of Canada's better games. I think there were only 1-2 head scratching calls. We have had a lot of scoring drives we are just not converting them to TDs or even points w/ Boswell's struggles. We had 4 scoring drives and a 5th that should have scored. Pretty solid considering the D we were playing against. I certainly do not want Canada back, but the offense has at least improved. At the beginning of the year we were lucky to have a 5 play drive, now we lead the league in 10+ play drives. Not a tomlin fan, but whoever has been pulling the strings lately at least should get some credit.

I always notice the trend is to make changes way late. That decision making process is always what I have a problem with. The trend with this team is bad in game and off-season decision making. I am hoping a new GM / assistant GM changes some of that. As I always called it a Tombert problem in the offseason, and a Tomlin problem in game. Still have to find ways to minimize weaknesses.

When the team plays the Buffalo, Kansas city's the team needs to be able to be competitive. Not sure if that will change, a wait and see for me. The trend is showing that it might be wishful thinking to think Tomlin can get the job done...

I said in the preseason that on paper, at least, this was probably Tomlin’s best staff since all the Cowher leftovers left… and honestly it took a minute to gel, but they are adapting and innovating again so that probably is true… Tomlins huge weakness was always the staff he surrounded himself with… maybe this is a step in the right direction

Get rid of Canada then we will revisit.😁

While I am fine with replacing him, the offense since the bye is what I expected from him when they promoted him… more of the Wisconsin run first stuff with hbacks and fullbacks after all the lip service they gave to refurbing the run game … I honestly have no idea what he was trying for the first year and a half… but yeah, he is far too restrictive .. especially with the passing game

Does anyone think Lamar sees the field again this season? I’m saying no. Hardballs said he doesn’t look good for wk 18 and I really wonder if LJ doesn’t want to come back at all and take the risk.

if he wants more money than what he turned down, he might want to return and have a helluva playoff performance.

I do acknowledge that. in my eyes he has done that. But clearly not in the Rooney's eyes or the NFL. Tomlin hasnt won anything here in a lot of years. But he would be snatched up in 2 seconds if he was on the free market
Can't argue with that.

Just remember to make huge bets on us Tying the Browns, so we aren’t that disappointed about it when it ironically happens after the *’s and Phins lose
Actually, the Steelers would still make the playoffs with a tie if the Patriots and Dolphins lose. Kind of funny.

I liked the move to the move to a 6-man front as well. That's fine, and it worked well versus Tyler Huntley. The defense hasn't been the problem -- they've allowed 17 points or less in 7 out of the last 8 games, but none of the quarterbacks they faced in those seven games was very good. Spillane is better than Bush, and they finally acknowledged that, which is a step forward.

I disagree about Canada. It makes me sick to my stomach how many times they run the ball up the middle on first and second down, then expect Kenny to convert on third down when everybody in the stadium knows they're going to pass. There has to be a more balanced play selection on early downs, and for God's sake, if you're going to run the ball that much, how about a play-action pass once in a while? Most of the success they've had in the past two weeks is when they're down late in the game, and forced to throw the ball. That's when KP has performed his best lately -- kind of reminds me of Ben pulling games out of his *** last season.

Looks like miami will be starting skylar Thompson at QB and Jets going back to Wilson. Jets are already eliminated though, but hopefully they play for pride and to possibly knock Miami out.
