Playoffs *******!

Nope, I respect what Brady and Manning are capable of possibly doing to this defense. That's if Brady gets time and if Manning's arm isn't as shot as it looked last Monday. Fear the possibility that they might do it? No. Respect it? Yes.
I mean, if they're supposed to lay down and just give up because of the names on the QBs jerseys, they might as well turn down the invitation to the playoffs. Besides, when Luck threw for 400 and Dalton had a game against the Steelers, what were the final scores? As far as Flacco, he's beat us, we've beat him. Flacco is the least "scary" out of all the QBs possibly in the playoffs that doesn't play for the Chiefs or Texans.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if this team made it to the lʍoq ɹǝdnS too, but I don't think they should be scared of any QB on the list of possible playoff adversaries. Respect them, yes. Fear them, no.

I wouldn't expect the Steelers to fear anyone, nor would I expect them to lay down and give up. I'm talking about how I feel as a fan.

You've somehow convinced yourself to discount the capabilities of two sure-fire first-ballot HOF quarterbacks, and classify them as simply "respectable," even with the prospect of playing the Steelers' clearly below average pass defense in their home stadiums.

I'm taking a more realistic approach at this time.

Manning looks like a shell of his former self, and if you punch Brady in the mouth a few times in the first quarter, that ****** is done for the game. The only question is, can we get to him and do it if we play them, cause when he isn't rattled, he's a damn good qb.

Joe

Manning will have plenty of time to rest his arm, and Brady's only been sacked 21 times in 16 games this season.

Yes, yes, please do continue to tell me what I'm thinking. It's interesting that you would twist my statement about not fearing any QB, but respecting them into being a statement that they are only "respectable". But hey, if you must twist and misquote in order to make yourself feel like you've accomplished something, then I guess you win the internet tonight.

As it is, my Buckeyes are in the Nat. Champ Game (against a team they were supposed to "fear" according to the media) and my Steelers are back in the playoffs. I'm feeling pretty good. So, you go ahead and "fear" all the big bad QBs you want. I'm kinda enjoying the time I spend as a fan right now.

Manning did not look good in his last game that I saw, and like all players they eventually loose the tremendous physical ability that has set them apart. His mind seems to still be there, how ever the last team I saw him play sure looked like they were able to shut him down.

Brady does not scare me with out the cheating. He is nothing special if he does not get special penalties many after the play has been whistled dead and he is begging for a call. The cheating that has taken place to get mr asterisk his is also evident.

With all that said the steelers have beaten both of these guys in the past and I think they can do so again. The thing that worries me the most about the playoffs are injuries to key players on the Steelers team. We have one now, and I won't bring in negative karma by looking at what could be, but the loss of some key folks on our team worries me more than who that is left for us to play.

I'm so sorry...I didn't realize that in your world, respecting somebody didn't mean they were respectable. And, yes, I'm sure you bet your life savings on Ohio State to win the game outright, because you're just a fearless wonder of modern society. Congratulations.

You are definitely unhinged. It's truly amazing how seriously you take yourself and expect others to also. Sorry to disappoint. I do appreciate your snarky little sense of wit though. It's ... endearing. lol.

No, Manning didn't look good against the Bengals, but he'll be playing at home with two weeks of rest, not on the road in a downpour. We just have differing opinions on Brady, it seems. He's 6-3 versus the Steelers; Manning is 3-2. Their losses were against better defenses.

Hopefully, we'll get a chance to find out, if the Steelers can get by the Ravens.

Try and contradict yourself a bit more next time -- I'm witty and snarky, yet so serious...and unhinged. Whatever, guy. Go crank one out with your Brutus doll.

Good night. Remember to sleep with the covers over your head. Wouldn't want Manning or Brady to jump out from under your bed and "SCARE" you to death.

I also believe we will be playing with a much better offense than we have in a long time. Even if PM is rested I do not think is still the weapon he once was. Just for comparison Ben played the Bengals both before and after they handed out a beat down on PM and the boys and they were beaten rather well. I suspect that PM is not the man he was a few years ago and can be confused with lots of looks at the line. He may study a great deal but DL may still have some rabbits to pull out of his hat.

Brady is in many ways the same and can get messed up if the short stuff is gone. Interesting development now the young guys in the secondary seem to be able to run and cover and strip the ball as well as catch it. Gay is becoming more of a weapon than many realize.

I do not think that the playoffs will be easy for the steelers but I do believe they can beat who ever they face in the next few games. I am not saying they will, just that they can. And I'll toss in a comment from one of the sideline guys, Craig Wolfely. His comment went along the lines of the confidence the young guys have is actually making them believe they are good ball players. He further stated that once you believe you are good in many cases it leads to becoming good. We have guys that are maybe in the over achievement mode right now and are making plays that they might not have a month or so ago.

The best way to beat a NFL team with an excellent offense..

Is with a NFL team with a better offense.

And who has the number one offfense in the NFL?

My preseason (and even into the season) prediction was 4-12... with the way the team looked ending last year, the way the looked in the preseason, the way they looked to start the year... I did NOT see them turning it around, but the 2nd quarter of the Houston game was the season-changer.

I'll gladly take my crow now...

I believe we actually finished second overall by 5 yards, but that was to the non playoff bound Saints

Steelers practice Friday. Me: Walkthrough, right? Mike Mitchell: No, PRACTICE. Me: Really? William Gay, from across room: It's Ravens week!

Not fearing Manning at all in a sub-freezing game. Remember the last time Manning won a game with the starting temp below freezing? Me neither...

Hopefully that's Raven, rather than crow!

Last year's lʍoq ɹǝdnS proves you wrong. The best way to stop a great offense has ALWAYS been to have a better defense. If you can take away what they like to do, and force them to do what they don't, you will win 9/10.

I wouldn't say Seattle's offense applies here...They are not built like a Denver or New England, which does apply here.

Which is why not having Bell might present a problem this week. With Bell in there, there is pretty much nothing that this team doesn't like to do. Stop the run? OK, have a heaping helping of Ben, Brown and Bryant. Focus on the pass? Well, first of you aren't stopping Brown, but we're also gonna feed you big doses of Bell.
I'm hoping that the OL takes not having Bell in the backfield as a challenge to themselves to open holes for Harris rather than relying on Bell to wait for a hole to develop. With just a decent running game, we will be able to attack the secondary with better ease.

I think we got this. We know them, and they just lost their LT. Harrison is really starting to come on, and Flacco is the goddam Statue of Liberty in the pocket. Get in a couple of deep shots, and keep them scoring field goals and I think we've got it.

It's funny you mention not stopping Brown. Watching the game Sunday night with my old man I said, "he just seems to be a step faster than everyone else out there" and Pop (who's a 9ers fan) replied "that's because he is a step faster than everyone else" Touche Pop, touche.

And AB is absolutely "Feeling It" right now:

VRENTAS: Who do you think is the best receiver in the game right now?

BROWN: I think you’re on the phone with him.

I think so too. But the thing about AB is that he works at his craft constantly:

VRENTAS: One of your greatest assets is your route-running. What’s your secret?

BROWN: I study film, I catch a lot of balls and I try to just get faster and stronger. I feel like if I get faster and stronger, the better I’ll explode out of breaks, and the more my mind can be sharp, because I’ll be able to react faster to what I am seeing. Usually down in Miami in the offseason, I bring Geno Smith out and a lot of defensive backs, and we make it like a 7-on-7. And we do on-on-ones and try to simulate the training camp setting. I usually do it with my weight vest on, and I try to push myself to the limit. So when I get to camp, I feel like I’ve already endured the hard part.

I hope they keep the younger guys in there. They give the Steelers a better chance to win. Ike Taylor is just embarrassing to watch at this point of his career.

Well, both of last year's playoff games in Denver were well above freezing, including a 63 degree reading, so it's kind of hard to predict what the temperature will be next week.

The year before, it was 13 degrees, and Manning lost 38-35 to the Ravens while throwing for 290 yards and 3 touchdowns.

I made it through the night.

It's so great to see that losing Bell and having an undrafted rookie free agent start his first game against the league's #4 rush defense doesn't scare you either; it just "might present a problem." You're my hero.

Maybe I should have been looking for Flacco under my bed instead.
