Playoffs *******!

I have bitched about Tomlin from the start because I did not think he was worth a flying **** at a rolling doughnut when hired. I still do not think he was when he was hired as he was handed a great team and only produced so so results. I do not care about the record. I will stand with the question that all the balchinians have never answered in eight years, what does he do well, or to put it another way what does he bring to the table.

I then had the outlandish theory that the Rooneys may have decided to not hire an accomplished coach but one with potential that could be developed into the coach they wanted. He would be inexperienced but they had a good team and good coaches at many levels and were likely one of the few places where a coach could be developed in this fashion. I have heard he was recommended by Tony Dungee if that is true that is quite a recommendation. While following along with the Steelers and MT one could see where he has gone from looking like the new kid in school trying to pick out a place to sit for lunch to the guy that is quietly becoming a leader on the team. He has not met with success at everyone of his endeavors but has with some. He is continuing to try and improve things and has gone as far as bringing back players from the Cowher years that have some life left.

In short he has finally brought something to the team that we can see this season. He is bringing focus and preparation to the team expressing that everyone will need to be prepared and involved to get better. He has brought focus to the team game and not the stats game a message that is echoed from all of the guys on the team. He is finally showing evidence of developing as a head coach and keeping his team in the games mentally. He may now be on the track of development and once on that track can continue to get better.

I do not think he was good when hired, but I think he is showing that he can be and if he continues he need not stop at good. The difference between me and the haters who ever they are is I can see improvement where it exists, the difference between me and the balchinians is I can see the flaws and the areas that need improvement and talk about them. The whole haters gona hate thing to me is nothing but a crutch to be carried around by a bunch of pampered under achieving excuse makers who toss that out to justify failure and lack of effort. The real deal find your short comings and improve them, don't make excuses, don't blame someone else look with in and get better. Two good examples of this William Gay and James Harrison. Both have looked at what they needed to do to improve and done so. Both are understated in taking credit for their accomplishments this year and have not been blaming anyone but themselves for their areas that needed improvement.

So that has been my position on this guy from beginning till now.

Did you ever consider you might be wrong?

Thanks ob i too thought it was a load of crap.. and to answer your question of course he didnt. I knew i wasnt going to see anything of substance after reading he took over a great team and did so so. Because winning a super bowl and going to another and coming down to a game winning drive of winning another is so so. The rest is blah blah speculation from a couch that isnt even seeing all the games.

**** that. I am telling you, point blank, there are people on this board right now that are pissed we made it this far, they would rather see this team fail so they can come here and demand someone's head, and of course, be right. You just don't take that much ******* glee in shoving a loss in peoples faces, if you actually secretly wanted the team to win all along, that's just not how it works.

Joe

Who are these people?

You really don't know or are you being intentionally obtuse?

Interesting fact I've noticed about the season....

We are undefeated (5-0) when facing teams with a winning record. If that continues....

I'm not sure how anyone could not enjoy this moment who is a fan. The next 2 weeks will be as exciting as we've had in over 2 years.

That's just mind blowing considering who they have lost to this year. It makes no sense at all...haha

It's a discussion board. Maybe you're not familiar with how that works. I'll help. I reply because I like discussing things. I'm not trying to change your mind, I'm discussing because I enjoy it. I've been here discussing for years and years, I enjoyed discussing back when we were discussing Kordell vs Kent Graham. I didn't give a **** what people thought then, including you, if you were here, and I don't give a **** now.

Occasionally someone will post something here that makes me rethink my position on something, granted it doesn't happen as much as it used to, but it does still happen from time to time. But I'm not here trying to win anyone's ******* votes, this is a discussion board, not a political contest.

Don't mistake my replying to your comments because I like discussion for me giving a **** what's going on in your head. They are two very different things.

Joe

This is a great post, I come here to talk about the Steelers......cause they are my favorite team, win or lose. Yeah when they lose it sucks and it makes you want to post more, cause you know we all know more then the coaches....lol! I have been here a long time went thru a few screen names each time the board went down but don't have the time to post as much as I would like to and to be honest I am not into all the 'war of words" that goes on sometimes. The one thing I have noticed and is a turn off is how if you don't agree with some people you are a "nutthugger"....whatever it is a message board where you talk about what you feel and hope to get different opinions. No need for name calling and all the other bullshit that comes with that there is enough of that bullshit going around in this world today.

So with that said back to the topic.......PLAYOFF'S *******!!!!!!!!

I'm hard on the coaching staff and FO when they lose. Hell they lost to three horrific teams. They walked a fine line for over a month. BUT they walked it. I've never been more unconcerned about playoffs. If they win one or two fantastic. This is not a SB contending team. No way no how. No team with a defense like this has won a SB in my memory. However, they are trending up and can basically spend the entire FA and draft in trying to fix the defense. One good corner (draft), a safety Thomas/ FA, and an outside linebacker (draft/ FA) are required and some filler depth.
I spent a bundle going to the Tampa Bay game with my family. Will treasure the experience for ever, but was a little embittered by the result. However, a lot of that sting subsided when they made the playoffs last week. It was a speed bump in an otherwise pretty upward trending season. Ben played great that day, Brown made a spectacular TD catch and our favorite player Heath was very good. It was James first game back in a surprisingly good comeback.

so do we tank the next game to make sure we play Cincy again in the playoffs instead of the Colts or SD?

so... easier road to the Super Bowl?

@Indy and @New England or vs. San Diego and @Denver? Seems like an easy one to answer to me... Better win Sunday night.

No. wea take HFA. if cinci loses and san diego wins, we get a chance to go on a full out vengeance tour in the playoffs....

San diego, 20 years after 1994 PAYBACK *******
DENVER.. for the Tebow loss... PAYBACK *******
then if we make it to the AFC CG... its either the ultimate NE Pittsburgh payback chance or one of two teams we already beat this year... and we owe cinci a third embarrassing loss for illegitimately hijacking the division with their unworthy team the past few years too

The easier path is through SD, then Den, then Cincy/NE/Indy. What if we play Balt first though. If the Rats win and SD loses Balt gets in and we play them. I don't really want that either.

I have another plan, Lets just beat the crap out of who ever shows up where ever they are and win the whole goddamn thing, how about that!

I'd still rather face the Rats than the Pats*. I still think that Brady and Belicheat are LeBeau's kryptonite and the defense, while better the last few games, isn't as good as it was when they were kicking our *** in years past.

If people are curious here are some fact about the season based on Vegas/point spreads/money lines:

Total point spread for the season = -33.5 points (high during Tomlin was 2007, -98.5, low was 2013, -2.5)

Total games favored: 11
Underdogs: 5

Estimated wins based on money line (not counting week 16) = 8.5
Estimated wins including final game = 9.1

Record of teams WHEN WE FACED THEM: 56-61-2 (.483)

Final Record of Teams We Faced (through today): 102-131-3 (.439)

The only thing about the pats is that they have gotten back to their "mediocre D that just doent allow any points" and magic clutch O again... which they last had when they were spygating... if we play them I hope we assume they are cheating again and take proper measures... aka give them misdirection a lot

Show up with some radio gear of our own and call plays for brady to get hit on a naked boot leg to James Harrison and follow it with a run into a sandwich by Hayward and Tuitt.

Well, the hackers in North Korea are out of work at the moment.

**** "tanking" the game...kick the bungles ***** and then get ready to **** up whoever comes to visit in the Wild Card round...personally I hope it is the Texans since that would mean both the rats and chargers ******* lost.....

I'm with this. Keep the momentum going, don't back into the playoffs.

This would be a great game to give some playing time to McCullers. Let him get out there and trash some people, prove he's the future at the position.

you are deranged from inhaling those Houston fumes...the Texans aren't getting on the ship

if we get the 6 seed we get Cincy again- with "can't hit a barn door Dalton", and with a one-armed AJ Green knowing the red headed stepchild is trying to get him killed with his spray and pray passes.................I'll take my chances there - even with 'one-hit-away-from-a-severed spine SD with Phillip and Antonio Gates.....they could gut our pass defense and you know it....I don't want a shoot-out.

I remember the '94 massacre....I don't want them either

I fear Andy Luck. too, against our secondary more that these stupid "rah rah siss boom bah" cheerleader squeals from the herd

Who do you want to play first, that is the question, forget about the Pats and all this bullshit.

One game at a time *******
