Me and James have a good relationship. That’s like my little brother,” Porter said. “He knows it’s nothing personal. He knows we’re trying to win a championship. He knew what that was when he came back.”

But it doesn’t make things any easier. And the Steelers know they have to make some concessions when it comes to putting the 39-year-old linebacker into a game.

“If you see how (teams) are attacking us, it’s not like they can rush every play,” Porter said. “Our outside linebackers are dropping a lot. And I’m not going to put James in that situation. When James is in the game, he’s going to rush the quarterback. I’m not say he can make those plays T.J. is making. T.J. is 22. James is 39. Covering is not his strong suit. His strong suit is when somebody is coming in here and trying to run the ball, I can put him in those tough situations.

“We get into the playoffs and we need a sack, I can put him in those situations because they’re not going to be too big for him. His time will come when we’re going to need him.”

Maybe they are genuinely saving him. I cant think of any other reason. I believe that based on what the formation is determines who rushes for the OLBs. Therefore its hard to put Deebo in. My guess

I can never think of a situation where James and Watt are on the bench and you would want Chick and Moats in.
I couldn't agree more, Moats isn't good in coverage.
How about we come up with a plan that uses Harrison as a pass rusher? We can't adjust to use him as a pass rusher?

Apparently not since we use the formation you love so much. 2-4-5.

They still rush 3 guys out of that, they're using Watt in coverage a ton and had him in the middle of the field alot Sunday. They couldn't pull Williams and use Harrison as a pass rusher with Watt in the middle with Shazier?

Again i think the OLBs dont know who is rushing until they see the formation. Dupree drops alot too. I dont think they want Deebo in a position to where he must drop or cover.

I'm sure they don't want him covering, but they can use him to attack a tall so-so LT, they can come up with something that he just rushes the passer?

TJ has dropped into coverage over 55% of his snaps. Bud has dropped a ton too. No point in putting in Harrison to see him in coverage.

Chickillo and Moats playing a bit is fine with me. Fresh legs don't hurt.

I wouldnt mind seeing four down(harrison heyward Tuitt and Dupree). Watt and Shazier in the middle and 5 DBs. And i think Hargrave should rotate with Tuitt and Heyward in the middle.

I don't love the 2DL look but I wouldn't mind seeing this tried, Watt gives you an extra pass rusher if you want to blitz.

I'd like to see Harrison, Heyward, Hargrave, tuitt with Watt and Shazier and 5 DBs, alu and Walton are solid subs and youd only be in that formation on passing downs.

We will see James in December and January, when we need him the most.

Sure we will...

Porter referred to Harrison as "his little brother". What kind of horse-**** is THAT? Hey Joe... your little brother is the Steelers all time sack leader. What you got? You got the Steelers all-time sack leader sitting on the bench against a 3rd string tackle who got cut by HOW many teams? You know... cause he's your "little brother".

Ya, don't put him in any "bad positions"...

With the motor of Watt, you would think Harrison would go in and give Watt a few snaps to catch his breath. Harrison still has the drive we seen it with Chief game,

I'd like to know of a positional coach who has as much to say as Joey Porter. Guess what Joey, you don't make these decisions. The DC and HC do. You run the drills, help break down the opponent for your position and make sure the rotation is happening. Chickillo is replacing Watt. his skillset is similar.

Actually one of the sites had an article last year discussing who makes the call as to who plays, etc. The position coaches make "recommendations" that are then followed or dismissed by the Coordinators. The HC steps in if he doesn't like what he's getting out of the recommended player and feels the position coach and/or DC has made a mistake. So, Porter actually does have a lot to say in regards to starts, playing time, rotation, etc.

I duuno....I thought Peezy was very clear with his explanation. Maybe I' not seein' the big picture here but to me he is going to use Harrison when and where he feel's like he's needed. Analyze all yinz want but Peezy will play when they need his skills and don't expose his weaknesses. When they started this practice is a mystery to me but hey..if it works, so be it.

Well I'd be pretty shocked if he had no input. But whoever is the final say makes the final decision. Peezy gives his thoughts, they watch the film, they consider the opponent and KB makes the decision. That decision can be over turned by Tomlin. Works that way in every level of football, peewee to pros.

Watt has been better then they ever thought very quickly..

we need the 3-3-5 back or try a 4-2-5

with all due respect, mr. porter, #92 ain't NOBODY'S little brother. believe that.
