PRE-SEASON Game Day Thread Game #1 - Seahawks vs. Steelers

I wasn’t saying to cut him.. i was saying to trade him… he would not be the first ufa they brought in then didn’t keep… they signed him before they drafted two wrs… we will see how it all plays out
They did not bring him in as a receiver. They brought him in as a returner that can make key catches in the slot. He is the fifth receiver. He is a true slot. He is a lock.

Chants of KENNY, KENNY, KENNY as he tossed the go ahead TD with 3 seconds left in the game. Hard not to root for this kid! Hopefully all the ******* nay-sayers who didn't want this kid can all calm down a little bit.
When Rudolph has played well against 3rd stringer/future insurance salesmen, we've been told that "You have to take into consideration that he was playing against guys who won't have a job in a couple of weeks".
Kenny did great. But, "You have to take into consideration that he was playing against guys who won't have a job in a couple of weeks."
Hopefully, he gets some snaps against first and second-teamers next week so we can see where he's really at in his development.

No he isn’t.. check out the official depth chart… he is the third option at the slot… behind claypool and CA3

I feel better about our RB situation than I thought I would
Yeah Jalen Warren is that UDFA that is able to be impactful right away… that always makes a position so much better… we definitely have a litte depth… also McFarland didn’t look like a waste either.. he definitely got better

I kept telling everyone that we always keep most of the previous playbook for a year when we get a new OC… and I’m fairly certain that Fitchners playbook was drawn in crayon… lol… i was hopeful that year two would look better.. hope it continues
Yeah I am just not sure that Canada is the kind of guy who can make his system fit the QB he has to have the right QB. That is a sign of an inflexible or limited Coach. He may be successful but it gives me pause.

Claypool won't play much slot. Him and Pickens outside. DJ, Austin in the middle. Some Gunner. But mostly he is here to bring back kicks and punts.

He fills a lot of slots well, that makes him very valuable to a GM and coach. They can't always keep the most talented guys they have to keep the right mix to field a complete team including special teams.

He also didn't get to play with our stable of offensive weapons. I like how our guys actually looked polished on offense for a change. Everyone looked good. Now defensively the backups still had issues with big runs, but came through big at the end with that sack FF.

Agreed. One thing I'd like to say about Gunner. Wouldn't have even brought him in. I liked but any comparison to Switzer is B.S. to me. Why exactly?
He seems far better already after the catch than Switzer. Also his return film is far better. Switzer was an over achiever with way to limited athleticism.

I think we're going to like the Robinson kid if he continues to develop. Glad that we have Flores to help with that.
I also like both of the UDFA RBs that played a significant amount of time (Warren and, of course, Teague). Pickens was as advertised. And, I was surprised by the play of Boykin and Gunner at WR.

Master Teague is going to get a very long look at making this team. I knew Warren was already a lock but Teague can block and run the rock. I like Benny Snell but his days are numbered.

I thought Gunner was a lock but maybe not. Sims is a far better WR. If Sims shows that he can handle returns then maybe they trade Gunner away.
DJ/Claypool/Pickens/Gunner/Austin. Sims has a chance to unseat Boykin.

With Canada liking movement. I could see both Gunner and Austin retained. I see the Steelers carrying 6.

It's what I said in my thread about the Preseason. I don't care about score and wins. It's about how they look in it. KP was poised. His ball placement was great for most part. Flat pass to Warren on first TD pass was perfect placement. Got them down to goal line.

I agree, he is a returner first and foremost, but again as a receiver he is definitely behind the top 4 of DJ, Claypool, Pickens and CA3. He isn’t better than anthony miller as a slot or outside receiver… he definitely doesn’t have the experience at wr.. in three years on a New England squad not really stacked at wr he had 9 total catches. Now miller can return punts and kicks, but he hasn’t been utilized much in that role.. he mostly was a 3rd wr… Sims has more returning experience than Miller, and at least in kick returns has a slightly better stat line than gunner…

Id say its very close between those three… id have it as Miller Gunner and Sims in that order… but Sims is making a case and Miller is hurt, so who knows… plus Tomlin loves coverage special teamers and CA3 is a lock and a dynamic returner… so my secret “fear” though i admit it isn’t much of a fear cause he doesn’t totally suck, is that they keep boykin over all the rest…

McFarland started and did nothing to hurt himself. Warren was very good against the better players. I'm thinking Master Teague would have to beat out Snell and they would have to keep 4 which is possible if not likely. But then no 6 receivers.

Anyone know when it aires on youtube or whenever?

Buddy Johnson looked slow and lost out there. Neither Spillane or Bush are good enough to start. Next years #1 for Roquan and we have the best D in the league.

Gunner is a coverage guy on kicks as well. He has the squad made because of versatility even if there are better receivers. Boykin and miller are fighting for a slot with Simms most likely the odd man out. Punt return yardage is a bit more important than kick off with the rules as they are.

I really like the idea of putting master Teague on the Practice squad … i think we can get him there with relative ease because of his lack of breakaway speed
