Okay , okay , it is known that the Steelers beat themselves, but lack of discipline. However, I feel regardless if we took the win the following stood out much more.

  • Offensive Tactics:. We need to return to our Steelers roots and play Steelers style football games; Run the ball! It has been many years since we've had such a dominant RB tandem. Let's slow things down and pound the ball. This will only open up the passing game and keep our opponent defenses in check. I was very disappointed to see our team start the game with 3 straight pass plays. Once we have a lead, we need to manage possession by running the ball and/or targeting another 1st down. On many occasions, there were opportunities for small yardage advancements (dump offs to L.Bell or Heath), but seemed like Ben kept looking down field for the big splash play! We need to play smart disciplined football.
  • Defensive Need: Love him or hate him, Ike Taylor's loss proved how crucial it was to have him as our primary CB. This was evident the entire game and especially the last Buc's TD, which I'm sure our upcoming opponents clearly know our weakness. Unfortunately, the best way to support a weak secondary is a solid pass rush, which I hope with more play time we return to Steelers Defense. I do feel the addition of Debo will only help our return to our defensive expectations and am sure he will contribute much more as he gets closer to football shape.
Cincinnati Bengals 3 0
Baltimore Ravens 3 1
Pittsburgh Steelers 2 2
Cleveland Browns 1 2

At the end of the day we have only lost to one divisional opponent and need to mentally and tactically toughen up. Let's go Steelers!

I agree....we should score more than the other team! Karma.

Our defense should also tackle the opposing teams players before they can advance the ball to the point where they make a first down or score.

I figured out several years ago that there are two ways to win a football game. 1) Score more points than the other team. 2) Don't let the other team score more points than you. The Steelers have historically relied on #2 and therefore #1 didn't matter as much. The last two years going on three, #2 isn't working and they haven't seemed to grasp the concept of amping up #1 to compensate.

There is a HUGE difference between "Playing not to lose" and "Playing to win" Tomlin has never been a "Play to win" guy, Cowher wasn't either. Love him or hate him, Belicheater is a "Play to win" type of coach.

I hate Belicheat's guts with all my being but he'll probably quit ten minutes after Brady retires and the Steelers should pay whatever it takes to get him.

Nope. Smartest coach in the league by a long shot. I don't think the Rooneys would pay as much as he'd command though.

I would be afraid he would cheat again.

Give me one of the Harbaugh's at this point................

Well he sure did not look all that smart in Cleveland, or with out cheating.

True but Cleveland's ownership sucks too. His pinkie knows more about football than Tomlin's entire brain though. Easily the best prepared team week in and week out in the NFL and almost never makes stupid mistakes and penalties.
He would look good in a black and gold hoodie. Wasn't used properly in New England.

Not to rehash the spy-gate, but the methods of cheating is absolutely genius. Along with the winning / cheating, I'm sure his knowledge improved. I still couldn't have him as a coach. To many things to go wrong. The Rooneys aren't like "crooked" Kraft, I doubt they'd put up with it, knowing the inside track of truth. We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

You might be onto something, Neon Deon thinks the players want him out of SF. We should put a sign up on the golden gate "Leaving San Francisco, Entering STEELERS COUNTRY" .

Our weakness and lack of proper offensive calls will keep us as a mediocre team at best. We need to utilize our two RBs and Run the Ball! Once they drop 8 in the box is when we throw the ball.

We are a passing team. Yes, we can run the ball but not when we NEED to. We must pass first and try to put up 30 plus per game to keep our D from giving away games. Times have changed. We are not a run first team.

Hence being very predictable. In today's game, we had a first and goal under 10 yards to go. Yet we continue to throw the ball to AB instead of using our power house RBs, who average over 5 per carry, and walked away with 3 points vs 7. If we use our RBs on Runs or quick dump off passes, the points will come. Run First then Pass will give us 20+ point games vs Pass First then Run will keep us at low scores. The fact that I am having to explain utilizing our powerhouse runners to open up the passing game is sad.

Would like us play to win!!!! I see no physical play, no identity at all. Agree with Admiral, use the back in drop offs more. Scratch that quick out pass, does not work with the receivers we have. Notice we start to throw to Miller it opens up the offense some.

we're never smart enough to make a move like that. I would go after Cowher since we are in Salvation Army mode now with Harrison back in uniform and Peezy roaming the sidelines. The rumor is Cowher is itching to be a "leader of men" again.

The real kind of course, not what we have now.

**** Belicheat, he looks the smartest because he's a cheating piece of ****.

Cleveland's ownership moved to Baltimore with them, they have won more super bowls than Tomlin or Cowher.
