Put the two 6 TD games on the shelf for a minute...

I was at the game today, in a vantage point to see the whole field. I can tell you that Ben was making rookie type mistakes. He is not seeing the whole field. Put the interceptions aside, and they were bad, there were times when he had AB wide open down field, and had no clue. I thought his line did a pretty good job of protecting him today, so it wasn't like he was running for his life.

We all know our defense sucks, and the O has to carry us this year. Well, I have some bad news. They ain't gonna carry us.

Ben puts up the monster numbers when it really counts, though: 13-17 for 166 yards and 2 TDs in the last 6 garbage-time minutes. First 54 minutes? 19-41 for 269 and 2 picks.

The interception on the pass to Heyward-Bey was a big dummy play. We ain't got time for that.

Was that the one in the end zone? Ben lofted a wounded duck into double coverage. I was hoping Ben was beyond those kind of throws. Evidently not.

Slash, I think Ben has a habit of coming out with a bit too much adrenaline, and will overthrow his receivers. Saw a bit of that. But there were some bad decisions that cost us dearly.

I know. Brilliance when the game is lost, is lost brilliance.

On that interception into double coverage, Martavis Bryant was singled covered on the other side. Why throw it to Heyward-Bey when Bryant is singled?

Forgot which play but he missed AB wide open in the middle as well...when showed the replay and AB put his hands up he was wide open for 6.

With our defense....we can't aford to not make those plays.

The thing that's frustrating is the fact HE CAN play at a high level....we've seen him do it before. Something isn't right with Ben. It's not injuries either.

Don't forget two 2 point conversions. Shades had been waiting a long time to unleash that **** at the right time.

If one of the defensive backs for the Saints didn't have hands like Ike Taylor Ben could have tossed 4 interceptions today and maybe even 5, but hey that's what a franchise quarterback does. I do not think he has much value in trade now either he has played poorly in several games this year. Instead of looking at what his totals are look at them game by game. Today they tried over and over to score a touch down and were stopped repeatedly. There are many games that he has failed to score anything that would give us the game.

Problem is if we don't resign Ben who do we get to replace him with? Is a target? A college QB they want? Arizona is doing real good their 1st round pick ain't gonna get us a franchise QB.

Steelers will resign Ben and will try to shore up the defense and try to get another ring out of Ben before he retires. 3 SBs for Steelers in Bens era ain't so bad I guess. But if that's the case they need to fix that defense Ina hurry.

Ben won't make it back to the Big Dance on his arm/offense alone. They need a good defense....right now we need an NT, CB, SAFETY, DE, LBERS.....

This season ain't over yet....we'll see how they do against Cincy....right now they still have a chance at 11-5. We'll see what happens.

Let's put those two 6 TD games on the shelf. We'd be 5 and 7 and on our way to 5 and 11. A good chance coach Dumbass Coolshades would be fired. Too bad.

God Damn IT IS NOT A COACHING PROBLEM when a QB cant hit a open receiver. Holy ****! WTF.com

Quit sugar coating it. He played like **** today !

He was outplayed by today by a mile!!!!!!!

It wasn't his line or his OC it was ON HIM!!

Did anyone watch the game?

Have you watched this team the last three seasons? Or are you a first-yr steeler fan??

We're not going to have anyone better at qb drop into our lap. The douche bags we have for coaches not so hard to replace

Put the 1970's on the shelf for a minute and we have a franchise that has only been relevant for a short period during the 1990's and 2000's. As far as this fan is concerned, the two in the 2000's don't even matter because they occurred against complete garbage teams, but we have to count them nonetheless. Don't think the Steelers will be getting many greatest franchise of all-time votes with those numbers. Basically in 69 of 71 years (remember we excluded the 70's), the Steelers are the Baltimore Ravens or Indianapolis Colts.

The problem is that a guy like Ryam Fitzpatrick can throw for 6 tds, yet the steelers still want to win with a ground game first and foremost. The offense has no identity and is so stale guys are jumping routes all the time now. Bens off day just highlighted our issues. he throws for 55% what, once every two years or so... A RB getting 250 yards of offense should offset that easily... That team had a crappy defense and outr gamplan was retarded and conservative yet again... you don't win with field goals and that is especially true when your defense is that bad. Ben was throwing high because they were jumping routes. they are the third team in a row to do it. Opponents jumping routes with some regularity happens when the offense has formation tells or when they have a pattern with down, distance, and field position. My guess is it is tied to what the young wideouts can run, but regardless its obvious and needs fixed ASAP... it should have been addressed after the Jets game

We are in the same boat the Giants are, with Eli Manning. ****** if you do, ****** if you don't.

Wait....he plays at high levels for two, maybe three games per season....we can expect those WOW!! moments a few games per season.....but he is what he is and we saw the downside of his "just a bit above average" quarterback-ing. Theres nothin wrong with him.....this is typical Ben....if you expected greatness or sharpness through most of the season, you overvalued his ability. He doesnt suck at QB, but we get sucked in by the two game explosion and think thats what he is....and its not. The last three games vs Jets, TItans and Saints display what he is when pressed to carry the team...Bell bailed us out vs Tenn else we would sittin at .500.

But theres nothin wrong with him physically...i dont know if hes really puttin in the work to be as great as we would like him to be. As has been stated, hes not learned to read defenses in eleven years and hes gonna struggle to maximize this talent on offense.

They jumped those routes cuz he was staring down his targets...you cant get away with that very long in the NFL.......Ben just hasnt matured at the rate some quarterbacks do. His ceiling was reached years ago. And i dont care what head coach or OC you bring in here...hes gonna have the same flaws, same issues.

This is sad, but the Steelers are on the verge of losing several long time popular Steeler players. Many of the jerseys you see people wearing will soon be of retired players.
The Steelers decision to sign Ben may only partly have to do with his on field performance and largely have to do with branding.

Ben isn't this teams problem coaching and bad personnel decisions are.

Lets take out the two 6 TD games !

SMH

Lets take out Bens two worst games ohhhhhhh don't want to do that?

ridiculous

Ben has had a helluva lot more games in his career that mirror his worst two than he has his best two.

was there too///

agree sort of

Ben comes out of the gates too slow - agree

who prepares the team and gets them ready to start hot or cold?

I think we know the answer

If I'm gonna pay a guy over a million dollars per game, he better be able to get his ******* self prepared.

You need to watch those plays again... especially the almost interception where the guy is breaking at the snap on a pre set instant throw. Or the interception in the end zone when the safety baited Ben because heyward bey coming in that scenario was an obvious deep shot. Those are not stare downs, those are all pre snap defensive reads.

I just think people here are insane about who sucks and why... this season ben has 8 interceptions total... in471 pass plays... that's one of the better interception percentages in the game... manning has 9, Brees and Luck have 11.. of the big time QBs only Rodgers is significantly better. Bens completion % is top 5 and almost indentical to manning's, as is his yards per attempt... The issues we have had the past few weeks has a lot more to do with what teams are doing to us, not how we are playing. Without adjustments it is not going to matter who is QB...

Probably the first post in this thread that has made any sense at all. The bubble screen that was sniffed out, the TE just ignores the DB. That's his ONLY job on the play, get in his way, slow him down even slightly. People are also forgetting that Mike Adams started at RT, and Jordan was in his face ALL day. They are also completely ignoring the hit Ben took on his hand as he released. They didn't even call a pass play until 5 plays later. That's when his passes started to sail high. Ben didn't play great, but he didn't get much help from the OL, the D started off well and then got shredded. The Saints go deep A LOT, and we bit on every single double move they made. We couldn't stop their running game, which made playaction even harder to defend.

We had stupid penalties at crucial times during drives, stupid PRE snap penalties. Lots of blame to go around, but you can't judge Ben's game without bringing up the hit to the wrist, and lack of protection from the right side.

**** the hand injury excuse...how was he playing pre-hand injury.??...like ****.......high and wide.........how did he play vs Tennesse ? Like ****........how about at MetLife vs the Jets ?.....until garbage time, he played like ****. So kill the hand injury excuse already....he hasnt played particularly well since Indy and Baltimore. Hes been in this league 11 damn years !!!! At some point you take this team by the reigns and lead it...hes the FIELD GENERAL aint he ?

Ben was playing like crap before he hit his hand. First play of the game he was off. Wheaton had a step. He high and wide before and after he hit his hand.

You can't cherry pick games, take this away, take that away. Yeah he had a bad day, but he wasn't the only one, Adams was getting owned by number 94, Bryant dropped a TD pass, Bell had a 3rd down pass hit him right in the palms, Miller tripped on what would've been an easy TD catch.
The problem is Ben has to play damn near perfect for this team to win, no QB plays perfect games. Dalton threw three INTs and won, Rodgers missed on a few ooccasions, including a wide open guy for a TD, hell he held the ball longer than Ben does waiting for guys to get open, one play he ran almost to the LOS then ran back a yard or two and took a sack, Brady wasn't franchise like yesterday, Manning I think was under 200yards and won.

The play AB was open in the middle of the field with his hand up, Ben was being drug down and he
threw it away. So we are going to ***** when he doesn't throw it away, and now we are going to ***** when he does throw it away.
