Rats crack down on Dionte

Nah, he didn't even have the Santonio Holmes ceiling, much less AB. He was a lower #1 WR At his Best, more like a good #2
Ben was the only reason he was ever any good. 3 seasons with Ben he had 254 catches for 2,764 yards and 20 TD's.
3 seasons so far without Ben he has 168 catches for 1,962 yards and 8 TD's.

As was the case with all the other WR's that had great years here then left, but it's funny after that Hard Knocks show, everyone is crediting Tomlin with these WR's success here and him knowing when to let them go.

A "factory" and who is at the switch? Who keeps pumping these "mental case" WRs out? I wonder if there is any consistent variable? Who could be causing all these defunct units?
They play for the Steelers and are let go if they become a problem, after that is not really a Steelers issue anymore. So who cares ?

I've always thought martial arts would benefit football players tremendously. There's a lot of hand fighting in the sport on every snap.

The self discipline and learning to remain calm, cool, confident and collected are tools that help in every aspect of life.

Somebody like Jason Wilson would be perfect for GP

I remember they brought in a boxing coach to work with the OL about halfway through Ben’s career to help the OL with their initial strike/punch abilities. Always thought that was a cool concept.
Seems like something that could work well again with what Mayer tries to do with the OL.

I always enjoy the somewhat out of the box cross training techniques used to improve guys and round out their skill sets.

AB was always a head case. The speeding violations, throwing furniture out of windows. Ryan Clark said they kept a bunch of his crap under wraps.

DJ did get a 2nd contract from us at severely reduced value $13M instead of $20M range. I appreciated him for that. Dumping him did hurt our WR room and we never recovered.

Some fans here prefer Harbage to Tomlin, yet Harbage only has 1 catch in 3 games of production and now chose to sit him. I don't see DJ falling in love with a team that takes games away from him. It's almost like they're doing him a favor.
Harbage: Go in for a play.
DJ No.
Harbage OK, you don't play next week.
DJ Cool...

Say what you want about Tomlin, he was a WR in college and he knows how to get the best out of young receivers.

DJ has checked out of teams for less, so I don't see him finally seeing the light and playing like a raven anytime soon.
Didn’t know about all the stuff kept under wraps on AB, interesting what comes out after a guy leaves. I thought most of that was post head shot from Birthdefect, that was before that happened??
Even Hines who almost everyone loves had his demons.

DJ was catching some serious grief for his inability to even practice with minor owwies with the Panthers, they got sick of his schtick pretty quick and I for one think the Ravens should embrace DJs lack of effort and I hope it spreads like wildfire in Rat bird land.

I would agree that Tomlin generally gets the most of his players, one of his strengths. The Xs and Os not so much his strength but he does seem to relate well with his guys and most seem to really want to play for him. Sure he has flaws, every coach does, but should be credited for his strengths too. Hopefully he still has room for more growth like he preaches to the players and he looks in the mirror too and tries to improve his craft every year.

Dumbest take I've heard on Steelernation, by a wide margin.
Johnson can't even catch the ball half the time
Not dumber than most of your posts. The whole dropping the ball thing was way overstated. He had one bad year and again it came down to his head not his talent. He had immense talent with a terrible head for the game. He could do just about anything AVB could do physically, he lacked the mental fortitude to do it sadly and was apparently a bad teammate. That doesn't mean he didn't have the potential; I think he absolutely had it. That is what makes his story all the worse is he could have been great.

I agree to an extent

AB seemed to be a pretty good citizen and teammate until that Birthdefect hit to the head loosened some screws and then he jumped fully on the crazy train, I think he is kind of an interesting case

Bet he has some serious CTE issues

Anymore today’s player is just a different breed than the old school players were, but that just mirrors workers in every line of work in America having a different work ethic as well.

It’s a weird world in the over exposures of the social media world and the instant gratification society we now live in. Ya just don’t see as many of the old school mentality, team oriented, high work ethic type of players or employees in any given field anymore.
I think he was pretty much an *** wipe the whole entire time. He was playing the brand game in public and the team hid it well.

Man, you must have a depressing life, depressing job, and even a depressing ISP to constantly shout out to clouds your disdain for one person. At least you are consistently depressing, maybe go seek therapy.

Agree on Hines but not sure Wallace is a great example. He never quite lived up to his potential. Hines far exceeded his physical potential.

Hines had the full deck in regards of WR aptitude. Wallace with his speed was considered a “one trick pony”.

Meh......it is about what is in the....PERSON. Not speed. One trick pony. About the PERSON!!!!!

Talent has nothing to do with the issue. Sure...the talented WR will get the spotlight.....numerous opportunities.....in the end it is about the individual....the person.

You and others shout out the same sustain for Lloyd after every post he throws up. Hmmmmm 🤔

Go figure.

Or he kept the cancer alive and well in Pittsburgh after AB was forced out. That goes to management.

Nah, he never sees my posts, as he has me on ignore. Probably, because like everyone he’s put on ignore he knows he can’t competently make a rationale argument about his viewpoint. He relies upon his enablers to try to do it for him.

Funny, DJ had no problems under Ben, with his route work, he was an exceptional target for him even under O’Canada’s high school playbook. After Ben retired, DJ’s targets, catches, TDs and yards all were impacted, due to lessor chemistry with the three other QBs that replaced him.

Also to clarify, AB wasn’t forced out. He quit. “Management” went to AB to fortify a solution to remain. When he wanted to renegotiate a contract he just signed, he was put on the trade block. “Management” had a trade for 2nd round (some say 1st round), but AB torpedoed it.

DJ refused to put in work to improve chemistry with the QB or was injured. When he wasn’t receiving all the targets he wanted (sometimes his complaint was justified) he pouted or quit on plays.

So yeah, blame “management” or just say what you really mean, the head coach.

99% of nfl teams would have loved to have a problem like AB for 7 years

Mental cancer or not he had physical talent. Otherwise, none of us would give a **** about him. Malcontents with no talent are not even worth discussing.

DJ was just another solid WR2 that Ben polished up and made shine. Good route runner which gave him ability to separate, questionable hands, **** work ethic.

Ben made many receivers look better than they were.

Now given his trajectory of adding complete asshat to his skillset he’ll be lucky to get another deal past a zero guaranteed prove it deal.

DJ is probably pissed about his usage in Baltimore...

In pittsburgh he was default WR 1 for the past few seasons... his rep took a hit when the Steelers dumped him to Carolina, but even there he was their top targeted wr.. he hasnt been there since the deadline and still is 2nd on their target list for the season by one target 58 to 59...

Baltimore got him as a safety net because flowers had an injury scare around that time and dj is that type of wr.. but then they never really used him...

Since he got to Baltimore, he has 5 total targets...in 5 games.. way down from the 8.2 he was getting in Carolina or his career in pittsburgh..

He is an UFA ... the Ravens keeping him as a backup plan is costing him money... he already has the tag as a bad locker room guy.. so now he may as well force himself off the team, sign with someone where his targets will enable him to rehab his image enough to get a decent short term contract somewhere

maybe not quite but his route running and breaks are spectacular when his head is straight. He just doesn't have the competitiveness or insane drive AB had. He could have been one of the best receivers in the game today if he wasn't a dumbass.
agreed
