Was just bored checking his stats with Bears and looked like

12 catches in 23 targets for 112 yards and 0 TDs

And we’re currently in line for pick 34 from him! The trade looks better week by week.

Good things started happening on the field for the Steelers following Mapletron’s departure as well, just think what ditching the other Canadian could do.

It's actually the 33rd pick right now because the Dolphins had to forfeit a first. If the Texans beat the Colts (possible) and the Bears lose to the Vikings (possible), the Bears will own the No. 1 pick and the Steelers will have the 32nd for Claypool. Imagine a first for Claypool.

Fiji, I believe he gets the Steelers the 33rd pick because the Dolphins forfeited their 1st round pick for contacting Tom Brady too early.

Hah, ******* Brady finally does something right for the Steelers.

I think we should go into the trade WR business more often. Basically a 1st for Claypool is a Steel. a 3rd and 5th for a tainted AB a 3rd for Martavis.

trade DJ next draft for a 1st maybe. someone might be that crazy

Yeah, I know that trading DJ is a talking point on SN but if they do so, they are FORCED to use a top-50 pick on a WR. Otherwise, the XYZ looks like Pickens, ? and Austin. Yikes. Putting a lot of faith on ? and a guy yet to play an NFL down.

100% agree. But if you can actually get a 1st for him I would do it. I would continue drafting wide recievers in the 2nd and trade them for a higher pick before they get to a second contract.

Yes I know it is crazy to think some would give a 1st for DJ. but it just takes 1 team to be stupid enough to do so. Look at Hollywood Brown

Yes but if addison falls down to the mid first, that guy is basically a cheaper DJ with better hands that has experience with our starting QB…. If someone would give us a low first for DJ and a fourth , Id absolutely do it, draft a CB, Addison, a LT, and an ILB or Safety with our top 4 picks and use that cap space saved to resign Sutton

Yeah, I hear 'ya. Good point that the Steelers are set to lose both Sutton and Edmunds to FA, have DJ in his last contract year.

The WR I like a lot is a guy named Rashee Rice from SMU. 6'2", great hands, great route runner. Dude catches EVERYTHING that hits his hands and is probably available at 40. Not sure how to move from 48 to 40 but whatever.

Now we also should take into account that the bears OC a couple weeks ago basically said that Claypool was never taught more than a few routes and barely knows an nfl offense… so next season he might be a lot better… much like Juju basically said down in KC… we don’t really develop guys… we find guys who have skillsets we can use early…

When asked to respond, OC Matt Canada offered two words:

JET.
SWEEP.

There is also going to be a guy like Zay Flowers who falls further than he should and will be a very good receiver for the right team. So to answer the question if I'd trade a first for DJ, yes.

I like DJ's ability to get open. Not that some of his game doesn't frustrate me. Trade a first.... I guess for me it depends on where that first is. Is it high or a low pick? DJ has produced on drives enough for me to second guess a late first. Claypool had a significant drop off. Not sure we can say the same in regards to DJ. My preference is to build up that unit instead of shuffling the deck.

I think the Steelers absolutely make every effort to sign Cam Sutton and Terrell Edmunds long term. That will require dumping some salaries like Mitch, maybe DJ but then you have to replace him in the draft, and possibly Chuks where you can move Big Dan over to RT and draft your LT. All possibilities. And don't forget we have to at some point extend Highsmith.

I love when people overvalued. I used to be terrible for it too. Remember thinking they would get a kings ransom for Kordell Stewart. Haha. No one is giving a first for Dionte Johnson. He has a pretty big hit next year and if he plays well even more year after. You could get what Johnson does in the 1st round with full control of a cheap salary for 4 or 5 years. The other FOs aren't former short bus riders. They can think too.

Problem.with dumping Mitch is the price to replace with even competent backup along with his guaranteed will cost similar to just paying Mitch.

So I think Mitch counts as 8 million against the cap, I think. Could we not bring in a guy like a Case Keenum, Jacoby Bressett for less? I may be off on this one but seems like what Mitch is owed next year is too much for a backup. Maybe even a Josh Dobbs and draft a QB late to develop.

Let me get this straight...

You guys want to trade DJ for a 1st?

He's a #1 WR who is locked into a contract paying him 1/2 the maximum going rate for FA #1 WRs for the next 2 seasons.

He's the best WR at getting open in the league.

And you want to throw a question mark out there and strip your young QB of his most reliable offensive weapon?

Sure, trade DJ...if you want to see KP regress....

Mitch is over 2 to cut and 8 million to put in a uniform. If you can put a legit short term starter.in uniform for substantially less than 8 I'm good with it.

I think many underestimate Dionte Johnson and I think you are pretty heavily overestimating him. I don't think anyone is paying a 1st for Johnson. I really do not. When you say a 1st you are talking like one of the best three or 4 receivers in college football. And you have his salary by the cajones. I've watched almost every down the guy has played. I like him. I would not give up a first.

Ive seen two scouts say Addison is the best Route runner they have seen in years… I know you are a DJ fan and that he is underrated here, but the guy absolutely has focus flaws and if you can replace him with a cheaper player that gives you the same exquisite routes, but with higher potential… why wouldn’t you? The thing tgat young wrs ( including pickens) struggle with are the precision and complexity of nfl routes.. Addison already has that as well as he pkayed for Whipple so he has experience with some nfl concepts already…

Yeah Id do that in a heartbeat.., DJ is a decent starter but he isn’t an all pro or anything

The issue is finding a guy that cheap worth a damn… do you really want the carcass of Joe flacco or Andy Dalton here?

What if they get Addison, to add to Pickens and DJ. That is making an offense more explosive.

I am more in line with just tweaking his contract.
