remember the whole $15/hour debacle? Pepperidge Farms does. So does McDonald's

Tim has realized that, given the lifespan of the kiosk

What's the lifespan of a kiosk?

I mean, you know everything about everything, from being a Dr. to a climatologist to an economist. Now you're an ECommerce expert and an Information Technology guru as well.

Go Google son.

and the fact that they operate 5,000+ hours per year, the hourly cost is indeed less than $5/hr. You’re a ******* idiot for not realizing the same. Again, no way you were a lawyer,

And you do realize the argument you're attempting to make is an argument supporting McDonalds automating to replace the workforce right?.....

The rise in minimum wage? No, it peaked in 1968, 55 years ago. That’s a decline in minimum wage.
You realize that it's called a minimum wage for a reason, right? Meant to inspire one to be more than what they are right now.
Do you own your own business, ever had to meet a payroll?
I find it amusing, or perhaps just sad, that you completely dismiss Tim's experience of having worked with McDonald's on this very issue.

Jealousy is a terrible way to go through life.

You still wearing a mask? No?

MURDERER!!!

Oh, and run the complete figures, dumbfuck for the total cost of the machines, including purchase price, installation, maintenance (people will spill **** on them and intentionally damage them in "underserved communities"), upgrades, replacements (machines fail, murderer), software, software upgrades, menu changes, etc.

You have no ******* idea of any such costs. TSF had to school your stupid *** on the cost of just the original device because you are such a stupid **** left-wing cockholster cumdumpster that you think companies give the ******* things away.

Go back to killing old people, you slavering imbecile. At least you're good at it.

I thought I was pretty comprehensive. I'll repeat it for him. (these are 5 year old prices, so they are now higher)

$10-$30K material costs
$60,000 installation
annual maintenance - 10-20%
Total cost - $70K to $90K
Annual maintenance - $7K to $18K

That's one kiosk.

Got 8 per store?
$560K to $720K for the kiosks
$56K to $144K annual recurring maintenance

😂 Divide $75,000 by the lifespan years then divide that by 5,000 hours and then get back to me on who schooled whom.

Thinking that the operating cost of the kiosks was more than $5/hr shows how clueless the two of you are. Not being able to do the math to figure it out shows how ******* stupid you are. Now go back to lying about being a lawyer.

Maybe you can help Tim out in showing how the hourly operating costs are more than $5/hr. Good luck

Come on Trog, you're the one saying that their operating costs are no more than $5 an hour. If you believe this to be true, please provide a balance sheet proving your assertion.
Perhaps I'm not understanding your point, if operating costs are only $5 an hour, and I believe that's what you're saying, wouldn't it be financially beneficial for McDonalds to replace hourly employees with machines?

Personally, I have no idea what the start-up costs, maintenance costs or lifespans of the kiosks would be. I do know that the owners of a business attempt to stay in business by making a profit, and I can only assume that in this case McDonald's has run the figures and gone this route.
Please enlighten us, otherwise I'd have to go along with the figures that Tim has given.

I only owned a business for a few years when I first started working, but managed for others my entire career.

I am definitely not a numbers cruncher, so I will defer my opinion to those that are. Now. if you want to know the chemical formulation of synthesizing cholesterol from a terpene unit, I'm your guy.

It’s pretty basic math. Tim gave an estimated cost of $75k. Unless the kiosks take **** after two and half years or so, the cost/hr is less than $5.

Go back. My argument is that they are financially beneficial regardless of whether McDonalds is paying a $15 minimum wage or not.

The kiosks at the McDonalds in Spring Lake, NC rarely, if ever, work. I hate those stupid things. The ones at Sheetz are pretty spot on though.

Maybe McDonalds screwed up in using them? They could lose frustrated customers, especially low-tech older people. I used one to get a coffee when I was in Lexington, KY. No problems.

No, he did not. He gave an installation estimate of $70,000 to $90,000 plus $7,000 to $18,000 annual maintenance cost. Because you are stupid, you presume 100% operation for the machines, unlike every other ******* machine ever used.

Let's say 90% operation time, at a cost of $100,000 per machine. McDonald's is open 18 hours per day, 360 days per year, for a total of 6480 hours open for business, where the machines are in operation for 5832 (remember 10% down time). $100,000/5832 = $17.15/hour. Have no idea where the **** you got $5/hour.

Huh, funny how wages forced to be $15/hour with matching for taxes, workers comp, is going to be around $20/hour and only when labor hit that cost did McDonald's decide to implement a machine that costs around $17/hour. Strange. Almost as if the people who run the business know how much **** costs.

So back to killing old people, Floggy. Science.

OK, you’re an idiot on so many levels. I could destroy this several different ways but I’ll just point out that you’re now arguing that McDonalds installed kiosks at a cost of $17.15/hr so they wouldn’t have to pay a $15/hr minimum wage. They aren’t that stupid, you apparently are. 😂

Who gives a **** about McDonald's. Think about the Mom and Pop businesses. They can afford neither entry level employees or kiosks.

Chicken Dinner!

We have kiosks at work for the aides to do resident charting. They are basically just a touch screen laptop. We rarely have trouble with ours and they haven't been replaced in many years. I think the machines are solid its just more of the software attached

Again. Divide those cost by the lifespan of the kiosks and then again by the 5,000+ hours they operate per year and show me how it’s more than $5/hr.

2087 average work hours in a year
Average crew salary = $12.78/hour (not even including the ludicrous $15/hr minimums in some areas)
Each employee makes $26,671.86 at $12.78/hr per year

Each store averages 8 members per shift. Some way more, some way less.

Use 8.

Use 2 shifts.

That’s $213,375 per shift per year.
That’s $426,750 per two shifts per year. Labor costs.

Say a kiosk lasts 10 years.

$75K up front cost. Say you implement 5 year 1.
That’s $375,000.

Years 2-10 you pay maintenance only. Let’s split the difference and call that 15% (hardware maintenance often averages 10% to 20%).

That’s $56,250 a year ongoing support costs.

So your 10 year kiosk costs for 5 kiosks are:
  • Year 1: $375K
  • Years 2-10 maintenance total: $506,250
  • Total 10 year kiosk costs are $881,250
Back to the employees.

8 person store, 2 shifts = $426,750 per year.

10 years to run that store with that staff = $8,812,500

Say the 5 kiosks can reduce 4 employees per shift. Cut the staff in half.

You eliminate $4,406,250 in labor costs for an $881K investment.

Thanks for playing.

Maybe McDonalds screwed up in using them?

Yep. They are clearly retarded. They saw where minimum wage was heading. They automated. They grew.

Thanks again for playing.

You stupid ******* imbecile retard special-ed dropout dipshit, I just ran the numbers and showed your $5/hour for the machines is bullshit. I also showed that the marginal cost made the machines worthwhile when the labor costs exceeded $17/hour. Your comments showed you are too stupid to conduct basic multiplication.

Didn't I also humiliate you about three months ago because you were too stupid to understand multiplication theory and run basic numbers?

And I'M the stupid one?

Make yourself feel better by killing a few more old people, shitbag. Oh, and repeat third grade math so complicated things like multiplication don't mystify you any more.

What a convoluted way to not answer a simple question.

The kiosks operate 18 hours a day/365 days a year. Each one replaces over 3 employees. But never mind that, let’s assume your cost assumptions are correct. $881k/5 kiosks/10 years/6,552 hours per year = $2.69/hour. <$5/hr.

Yes. Thanks for playing and destroying your own argument.

No idiot, you’re assuming the kiosks need replaced every year. Oh and take it up with Tim, he claims the cost is $2.69/hr

That is just the kiosk. Now what about the other machinery at the stations to prepare the food, assemble the food, place it into the proper containers, bag the food, deliver the food, clean the stations to proper sanitary conditions....now do that simple math for us.

God forbid the order is wrong...there would be no disgruntled attitude ridden machine to roll it's eyes at you when you ***** about it.

well damn...
Dodge! Answer the question. What’s the lifespan of the kiosk? The great thing about math is that it’s a perfect science and it can definitively settle arguments. Well, that’s not so great for you.
