Ya know, I like Pouncey for the most part. And I think he projects very well to a zone system, so if that's going to be our base scheme as it should, then I think he's good a good shot to return to All-Pro form. But damn, that's expensive. That's a hair more than Mack got, and Mack's was a RFA offer sheet from a team with $30M in cap room!
He's a good center, but he's declined since his rookie year and we STILL give him the highest C contract in the league? I miss the days we made everyone prove they deserved the big contract. We keep paying guys market value - even when it's beyond their worth - the instant demand hits. Even if he played out the season healthy and solid, he'd cost the same next year, maybe pennies more. Why is it so important to hand him the top contract this instant, in the midst of a decline, before we can even gauge his development?
