Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

He was MVP 4 years ago. Want to try again. He was not terrible on a terrible team last year after the first few games.
Let's try again. 4 years is a very long time in pro sports

He was not terrible. Agreed.

It's not that I don't think this signing helps the team, I believe it hurts the team. They're better without him.

And how about Watt?

Rodgers is a tool, a cancer, and hasn't been a great QB in a decade. It's a waste of money and another wasted "reload" season

And how about Watt?
He did win league MVP in 2020 and 2021?
What "great QB" would you have signed for 13 million?
Dk Metcalf was a waste of money.

So would most Steelers fans. Ask other NFL fans and I guarantee you the answer would be different.

I don’t care what other team’s fans have to say. I’ve had both Steelers & other team’s fans say we got a good deal. I’ve also had both Steelers and other team’s fans say, not such a great deal. It comes down to who and their opinion.

I’m a Steelers fan, so I’m pulling for the positive all the while knowing, in my heart, that the sky isn’t falling.

Time will determine the outcome, I don’t care if I’m right or wrong as I just want the Steelers to win positive.

What about Watt? He is the soul of the defense. Pay him. The cap is going up every year. It will be a deal and we have plenty of space.

I'm hoping Metcalf keeps them in games. You may be right since QB hasn't been addressed

I would have loved Stafford this year but what I want for Chanukah is a long term plan that starts with admitting they suck, trading Watt for a trailer full of picks, and restarting a dynasty in 2 or 3 years with their QB of the future.

This patchwork nonsense every year has resulted in at least an extra 3 years of pain. Hopefully there will be bright spots

Our D hasn't had a soul for years.

I disagree I just feel like the offense has sucked it dry by the end of the year the last few years. They can't do it all on their own and they lacked defensive line depth as well as ILB depth until now.

Why has the offense sucked………???

I just hope that they open this crap scheme (both offense and defense) up. Captain pudding box will need to soften his hand.

Sad thing is the DC isn’t doing anything earth shattering.

Our only hope is Coach Tomlin backs off the OC and lets A. Smith open the gates up.

Could use a little “BLITZ-ing” to help that defense out a little.

I know that you blame the offense for the defensive issues.

Tomlin issues on the D are mainly his own. He still believes in the bend but don't break defense. He willing gives up long sustained drives to keep scores and possessions to a minimum.

Maybe our offense changes this season but it's ineptness circles back around to Tomlin also.

Both sides of the ball have been debated here for years now. Nothing has changed.

Final answer: this **** show is all on Tomlin.

I know what @SteelerInLebanon is saying. Maybe I can help...

We have an elite defense and they've been elite when they're all on the field at the same time. Most years, over the past 4, injuries have derailed the scheme and plan and finally, yes finally, ILB is not the Achilles heel.

There are some things that need tweaking---i.e. cut JPJs arms off until the ball is within 5 yards because he is becoming too handsy; and rest big Cam more.

If the offense can stay in the field more and put points up the majority of the time - the defense is rested and will damn sure produce APPLE TURNOVERS!!!

Ok, Berm is packing up and heading back to WPB today. Bermuda has been a nice change of pace and I got to reconnect with family and friends. It's time to get back to reality and yinz...

I think/hope it will with a QB like Rodgers back there. Contrary to popular belief Tomlin did let the offense play when Ben was in his prime so it could happen again. A little more scoring would allow the defense to get more aggressive. The defense was certainly not perfect, like Berm said JPJ needs to refine his hand usage, we needed young bucks on the line and hopefully we got them. I like our ILBs now. If the offesne gets marginally better the defense should shine and have no excuses.

I just can't get on board with anything scheme wise offense of defense. We watched Minkah have an amazing first year here, all pro, we pay him top money and then we make him play center field. Watt constantly gets double/tripled and we do nothing to help him, we don't move him, we don't blitz, nothing. We use 2 DL primarily even on running downs/situations. We play Baltimore in the playoffs and they made an obvious adjustment, we did nothing, just told Watt to hit the RB and Jackson killed us, we make no adjustment.
I'm not sure how anyone can have any kind of optimism with Tomlin leading this team. I won't even start on the offense.

41-year old A-A Ron is not the answer but Rodgers has not been a great QB for a decade? C'mon, man.

2020: 372-526, 70.3% completion, 48 TD's, 5 interceptions, 121.5 passer rating, NFL MVP
2021: 366-531, 68.9% completion, 37 TD's, 4 interceptions, 111.9 passer rating, NFL MVP

Every team has injuries. I don't think the defense is great. Good? Yes. Great? No. A great defense would not let the Eagles simply shove them around while holding the ball for 12 minutes to end the game. A great defense would not give up 21 points in the first half to the Rats in a playoff game. It is not a great defense.

Agreed, and this points right to Tomlin

Hmmmmm...

I agree with most of this. I will counter to say that the Eagles offense is beyond elite and not many teams match up well against them.

Let's not forget that the "playing field might have been more favorable" had Ol' Rog and the schedulers not ****** is with 3 games over 10 days and all 3 teams were playoff squads. Brutal.

Let's see what they can do with two safeties that now have a year under their belts playing together. Big play Slay has been very durable and should be on the field more than Jackson was. Holcomb seems to be back at his above average play at ILB pairing him with another above average ILB in Queen, who also has a full year, now, in the program/ system. I have no solution for TJ as he seems siloed in playing 95% of the time over the RT. When he does switch to ILB... meh are the results...

The new youth in Harmon and Benton up front should be better too.

I'm sipping on 8oz of Malbec and enjoying my last views of Bermuda at the airport.

Follow my lead!!!
