It gives us something to talk about. Things have been entirely to civil and upbeat around here. We can't have that. Poor Cooch gets all the pent up angst thrown his way. although deservedly so.Careful, might get another “enlightening” 2,000 page education on Red nose………

Then you haven't paid attention in our Super Bowl runs as we have had meaningful games played by backups in years we went to and won the big game. It isn't a lost season if the back ups can win a few if needed.I really do not understand the Mitch and Rudy show, again. Way too much cap space for guys who will only play in a blown season.
Don’t forget We were all told it was also going to happen in the first week of FA as well. So, no big deal for Rudolph and no starting position with another team?
I'm assuming this is vet minimum or close to it. He's probably the best QB3 on any team and very well could be our QB2 next year when Trubisky goes looking to get a starting gig. If the 2 sides iron out their obvious issues from last year, this is a good signing.
The Steelers used a 3rd round pick on him so that’s somehow his fault.I just can't figure out what Rudolph did to get the snide comments.
I don’t think they are trading Mitch right now. There simply isn’t enough demand for QBs this off-season… I do think that if one of the no name udfa qbs that we are probably going to stash on the PS looks really good, and we are healthy in the QB room, we may see a qb trade at the deadline, because by then there might be injuries or some of these QB gambles might have crashed and burned by then…I could see Mitch getting traded to free up his $7M salary and use Rudy as a back-up to KP. If they could get a 5th and cap space, why not? Rudy could hold down the fort for a few games, if needed.
And not too unthinkable considering KP is already developing a “concussion history”I hope he gets a fair chance at the starting job this time.
(Couldn't resist)
Rudy is the "Break Glass in Case of Emergency" QB. Nothing more. Steelers simply don't want to use a completely untested FA rookie if the unthinkable happens.
This time he will be used properlySo, no big deal for Rudolph and no starting position with another team?
Stetson Bennett>Mason RudolphI will eat crow on this one. I would have bet my left nut he would have went anywhere other than here. I mean there's a lot of easy backup spots with the potential of getting an injury start out there. Packers, Rams, Jax and maybe even San Fran if they trade Trey. Depending on how much he costs us it makes sense. I mean having a deep QB room is important especially with a young QB on the roster. But I honestly can't believe the Rams with a bum shoulder Stafford and the non-college graduate at 26 Stetson Bennet as a backup wouldn't throw an offer at Rudolph. Unless they plan on tanking to get Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.
Like I said before, Bridgewater and Wentz are still on the open market… plus a metric ton of young qbs are on many of these teams rosters, so team’s feel that tgey can gamble on what they have because there are safety net guys available still…I will eat crow on this one. I don't think people have a dislike for Rudy personally. It's more a dislike of people's opinions that he has the talent to be a starting QB in the NFL. Opinions vary but apparently 32 NFL teams share the same view that he doesn't have the talent. The Steelers used a 3rd round pick on him so that’s somehow his fault.
Ya can’t fault Rudy that Colbert decided to go buckshot at the QB position and overpay T Biscuit as a backup option…I’m sure Rudy is eating up almost no cap space THIS timeI really do not understand the Mitch and Rudy show, again. We didn't have a starting QB at the time. If Kenny gets picked before our pick last year none of the other top rated QBs in the draft were even close to starting material. Colbert rolled the dice with Trubisky and failed. Fortunately for the Steelers it turned out to be a positive.Ya can’t fault Rudy that Colbert decided to go buckshot at the QB position and overpay T Biscuit as a backup option…I’m sure Rudy is eating up almost no cap space THIS time

Rudolph could have rolled the dice and held out hope that a string of injuries could have created a market… but that didn’t happen last year… so it would have been a big gamble.
This was a safe spot… if he has a quality preseason then he might be on someone’s radar for a trade or at least next year as a backup
And it's not like Mitch set the football world on fire in the few games he had a chance to showcase his craft.I don’t think they are trading Mitch right now. There simply isn’t enough demand for QBs this off-season…
Correct. I doubt the Steelers were going to pick Willis, Corral or Ridder (3rd rounders) in that round. Maybe Howell where he was eventually taken (5th), but it would appear that we may have rolled with Trubisky and Rudolph all year had Pickett not fallen to us.We didn't have a starting QB at the time.
