Rudy named starter for raven game

Pickett was healthy enough to play last week and wasn't active. Now Tomlin flat out benches him this week.

Anyone have any thoughts on the rumors Pickett "refused" to be the backup last week, per Mark Madden? Before you dismiss it because of Madden, Kaboly hinted at this on the radio but wouldn't go as far as to report it and apparently Dulac did as well (though I didn't hear his radio segment).

I’m really happy for Mason and this should work out nicely for him in the off season.
I’d like to see us re sign Mason but fully understand if he turns his nose up at any Steeler offers. It’s not like he’s been treated fairly here and with that said, the guy never complained and went about his day to day preparation like he was the starter. Says so much about Mason’s character.

Obvious choice at this time...
Not just for the improved performance at the QB position the last 2 weeks...but the offense overall.
Imagine if Tomlin named Kenny the starter and will be ready to go Saturday. and how the rest of the offensive players would of reacted?
They are feeling it right now and the wise guys in Vegas know it, and made the Steelers 3.5 point favorites.

Man I hope that’s not the case with Kenny. Idk if there’s any validity to that but if true that’s a horrible look for Kenny.

I very highly doubt this is true, but if it is then it is certainly not a good look. Kenny did not seem to be the whining sulking type, but you never know. I do not know why you would refuse to be #2. If he went in the game and played well he would have gotten his job back.

If true ... Just WOW! He'll have lost a lot of respect in the locker room. He'll have also opened up the possibility that he sees even more competition for the job next year. I mean, how could they trust him as a teammate or team first player?
In fact, I'd say that attitude is at least as bad as the effort issues we were bashing DJ and Pickens for earlier. Maybe worse.

Mason has earned the start!

If Mason continues to play well and they get in, there is NO decision. Can you imagine the freak-out if Tomlin started a cold Kenny Pickett and gets rolled over in the wildcard game?

He'd be BACK on the hot seat, if he was ever on it.

As others have said above, it's a no-brainer right now. And...If KP refused to be the backup, that's not good. Perhaps he "learned" enough from the sideline to see he might have serious competition to deal with. I hope that's false about becoming a sour puss backup.

DK reporting, without addressing the rumor, that the only reason KP was not the backup or emergency QB last week was that he was not cleared to play until Thursday afternoon. That meant he hadn't taken any real snaps in preparation for the game.

This. I watched the practice reports all week. This lines up with his lack of participation during the week.

Oh those nasty rumors...

Did yinz hear the one about Tina?

Has that been reported anywhere other than Madden? He's a scumbag, IMO.

I would guess it's made up whole cloth. Can you imagine being a QB just a couple of seasons from being drafted and making a problem like that? You will be committing career suicide. The team you're on will dump you and no one else is messing with you...he's Kenny Pickett not Tom Brady. I don't think he's that dumb...but in the words of a famous coach" never say never"

You had to do this. If you put Pickett in cold against that D and they play the starters, it could be a nightmare and you ruin his confidence throughout the offseason… let Mason play… if the Ravens kill him then let Pickett come in to be the hero if he can be… if not, you get a motivated Pickett in camp next season

Madden spreads **** because he said Pickett would never be the starter for the Steelers the year before we drafted him… then pickett had that magic season and we drafted him and Madden was pissy because he was utterly wrong

I hope it's false and Kenny sues the clown.

Then you continue to play Mason.
