Rudy named starter for raven game

Yeah, it's one of those situations where you hope they do, and you hope they don't in order to further measure Rudy's ability.

I hope they don't. A SB appearance for us is highly unlikely anyway. Rudy needs to take the next level of the test, and that is to face a good D.

The Ravens probably need to sit virtually every DB they can spare. That D is totally built from the outside in... the Ravens dont have a guy like Watt who can consistently produce quick pressure. They rely on coverage and blitzes, yet they lead the league in sacks.

Either they or Cleveland have the best secondary in the league, but the Ravens DBs are really beat up and many have LBIs that may linger.

If that secondary falters, that D will unravel.
And that is not conducive to a long playoff run

Mad they have an all pro at every level and that young safety is already a top DB in the league. He has an ankle I think could be bad. They get consistent quick pressure on every down and clowney looks 23 again. Madbuke is going to break the bank.

My perspective is that Mason performed exactly how a good QB should perform against sub-par defenses.
Guiding his team to 30+ points each time passes that section of the "good QB test".

Really looking forward to seeing how he does against that Ravens D, as we all are.
Looks like the weather may make his performance even harder to assess.

So if he plays well, it was because the defense couldn't react as effectively. I imagine that will be the next explanation as to why he played well.

But if he plays poorly, I doubt those who remain convinced Rudy is a dud will give him a pass due to the weather. Rather "we told ya so" LOL

But I do understand your point. The greater chance of slipping, falling, fumbling. The timing being off between QB and receiver. That said, the conditions may not affect the ability to evaluate Masons performance all that much even if bumbling and fumbling happen. It all depends.

Interested in seeing if the rats sit some of those D players...
Another interesting thought - the Steelers are a possible opponent of the Ravens in two weeks - given the result of this week's game is meaningless to the Ravens other than a loss gives rise to the possibility (albeit slim) of the Steelers being their first playoff opponent, I could see them using a vanilla game plan so as to have a few aces up their sleeve should the Steelers be their opponent again in two weeks.

Forecast has changed to only rain now in Baltimore during the game tomorrow. Baltimore is resting at least 3 starters on defense...that will have more of an impact than the weather conditions.

I'd like to see Rudolph play well and help the Steelers win. Even though I know in my heart that they'll probably take a beating in the first round, I still want to see them in the postseason -- as a fan, I can't help myself.
