Rudy named starter for raven game

He should have never gotten Mitch. I mean he flat fell in love with the guy or was it that he really detested Mason so bad? Surely Tomlin didn't hold Jason Garrett's accusation against Mason? I can't think of any other reason he didn't like him.
Tomlin was enamored by MT’s original draft position. Since he has no real skill in identifying talent, he was blinded by draft position. If he knew anything, he would have seen what amateur fans all saw. Rudy was a 3rd round pick, so his extremely high intellect knew 1st rounders are always better, and the higher pick even more so.

rudy has never been anything but a mediocore qb

good deep ball but suspect accuracy on short to mid throws and king of the FGs when in the red zone.....
Maybe in his prior games, yet two years later, it seems you are being proven wrong.

Mason called the former Cowboys coach a n****r too?

Somethings wrong with that boy. He's got issues.

I love how your view of things is right and that's that. Gotta love the internet.

You can call my opinion stupid and yours correct all you want, it only shows that you aren't worth my breath. Enjoy the remainder of your life. Tomlin is an idiot, so he could very well have taken that childish stance with Rudy.
In all seriousness, that is such a reach.

Tell me if you still think that.
Tomlin nailed it here.

2 games without Kenny and Mitch. Pickens has league best stats.
Tomlin handcuffed every player on offense starting Pickett.
We've suffered through the better part of 2 seasons getting a "look"

That takes me back to the discussions we had about Ben retiring.

I wanted him to retire a year sooner than what he did, which was his projected retirement. The sooner we start looking for a QB the better.
The goal is to win a Super Bowl.
Anything short of going to the Super Bowl was a wasted year and Ben wasn't taking us to no Super Bowl.

Those opinions were viewed by someone as "throwing games", which is absurd. Has absolutely zero to do with wanting to lose games. Was still wanting to win regardless of who was QB.

Rudolph has re-signed with the Steelers twice since that incident - do you think if Tomlin really believed Garrett, Rudolph would have been re-signed even once?

Tomlin thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room but is most often the dumbest.

Stewey-

I'd go further and say he should have been traded at least a year before that.

I think Pickett has missed some open guys, checks down too much, and has poor pocket presence and needs to own some of that himself regardless of who is coaching and calling plays

However one of Tomlins greatest sins (one that justifies his firing imo) was investing a 1st round pick in Pickett and handing his development over to a guy Tomlin HAD to have already known was a poor OC out of stubbornness and loyalty to Canada

Lots of coaches have been canned for less

KP8 was touted as the most 'Pro-ready' QB in the draft. In fact, that was his entire calling card, given his lack of upside.

If he needed all that much developing, what exactly was his value?

You guys are treating him like he was a Lamar Jackson / Josh Allen sort of project player, and he was anything but that.

I still love how when Mike Tomlin is absolutely pissed off, his eyes blink at a million miles an hour🤣

It's pretty evident. That race baiting **** doesn't fly with him.
....unlike a former running back by the name of Mendenhall who probably believed Garrett.

True, he was touted as pro ready and is older and my person opinion is Pickett will not be a guy capable of leading us to a Super Bowl or a franchise caliber QB. He’s not that accurate and doesn’t read the field that well-I’d argue his ability to read the field was stunted by the conservative approach of Tomlin and Canada

However every rookie QB needs help and a system that allows him to gain confidence and develop his entire game. I’d argue Canadas system shrank the field, discouraged downfield passing and using the middle of the field and sapped confidence from Pickett.

Hey Yinzer I can see your point of view on Jackson because everyone but Baltimore viewed him as a project. But they didn't view him as a project as evidenced by their complete commitment to building around him.

As for Allen, he was a HS project, went to JuCo and I don't think he got any scholarship offers. But he was a top prospect in 2018 and drafted top 10. He was shaky for 2 seasons but it seemed like he got it in year 3. I really like Allen and view Bills as ravens killers and SB contenders

Cheers

but the playcalling has been different
OK lets go on record here.
Mason making KP look like a bust is due to "different" playcalling within the same shceme. and only playcalling according to coolie

there is more to it than just playcalling but that is a major difference

canada flat out sucked at calling the plays

Kenny looked better against the bungles going for something like 270 yards passing without a TD....then he gets hurt against the cards

KP needs to get his confidence back and not bail the second pressure gets close

I did not want him drafted, but he is here and he will be competing for the starting job next season

but you trying to claim there is no difference between the situation rudy is in and what KP faced is less than honest assessment

You claiming there is a big difference is a huge reach. Its the same scheme, called by two guys that won't be calling plays in the NFL after these last few games. Thats a fact
Obviously they can run different plays with Mason because he is fit to run the offense, put up points, throw the ball accurately and defenses have to account for this unlike kenny. The situation is different because mason went in there and properly used the weapons at his disposal. Unlike Kenny.
Keep reaching though

Just sayin'.
Just because Rudolph played some lower ranked defenses doesn't invalidate his performance.
Never said that it invalidates Mason's performance over the past two games. But acknowledging it provides some perspective.
You're saying KP mustered 3 points against a 2 win team playing on the road.
No, I said that Kenny had the Steelers on the Cardinals' one-yard line in a 3-3 game. If he hadn't gotten hurt, I'd assume that he very well may have QB sneaked it in for a touchdown, which would have meant 10 points on the board with 5+ minutes left in the 2nd quarter. Instead, with Mitch in the game, they go shotgun formation, hand it to Najee, and he gets swarmed.

I agree and disagree with you. Tomlin, I agree, seems to think he is the smartest in the room. I just happen to disagree that he is dumb. Just because you are intelligent, doesn’t mean you are capable of everything. Where he is deficient is in X & O area, and the seemingly unwillingness to hire competent people and then let them do their jobs. He appears , from the outside, to be a heavy handed micro-manager who can not properly evaluate the talent he has at his disposal. He prioritizes draft prognosticators reports, since he lacks that ability. All while allowing the inmates to run the asylu, because he seems to want to be their friend instead of their Boss. Earning the label of “a players coach”, confirms this.

My perspective is that Mason performed exactly how a good QB should perform against sub-par defenses.
Guiding his team to 30+ points each time passes that section of the "good QB test".

Really looking forward to seeing how he does against that Ravens D, as we all are.

Interested in seeing if the rats sit some of those D players...

Yeah, it's one of those situations where you hope they do, and you hope they don't in order to further measure Rudy's ability.

I hope they don't. A SB appearance for us is highly unlikely anyway. Rudy needs to take the next level of the test, and that is to face a good D.
