Rudy named starter for raven game

And by "competing QB play" you mean "what Mason Rudolph is giving us."

OR better, this draft.

Mason is the key to success this year. Next is yet to be determined.

All for NOT as Coach Tomlin will be back to slinging his asinine Tomlinisms and secret hand-shakes with relentless weather predictions of pudding.

Salute the nation

Win Saturday, win wild card and guess where we're going to destroy an entire city? That's right.

On to the AFCCG

Huh? I asked a simple question. I never accused him of it. You went nuts. Calm down. Good lord.
Actually, I never once said YOU accused anyone of anything. You got called out on a bullshit proposition and wanted to pull the "Calm down. You're going nuts" card once it was shown that your "question" was utterly stupid. And it was utterly stupid.

He should have never gotten Mitch. I mean he flat fell in love with the guy or was it that he really detested Mason so bad? Surely Tomlin didn't hold Jason Garrett's accusation against Mason? I can't think of any other reason he didn't like him.
rudy has never been anything but a mediocore qb

good deep ball but suspect accuracy on short to mid throws and king of the FGs when in the red zone.....

Madden spreads **** because he said Pickett would never be the starter for the Steelers the year before we drafted him… then pickett had that magic season and we drafted him and Madden was pissy because he was utterly wrong

This is a mistake. I get it Rudy has looked good, but Pickett is still seen as the starter next year, correct? Kenny played in a dysfunctional offense. Now that the offense is actually clicking with the OL blocking and the WRs not quitting, you have to get a look at Kenny. Let's see if Kenny can perform in this offense.
If not then you start scouting QB for the draft.
2 games without Kenny and Mitch. Pickens has league best stats.
Tomlin handcuffed every player on offense starting Pickett.
We've suffered through the better part of 2 seasons getting a "look"

I'm not a Rudolph guy at all. But he would have won at least one of the Cardinal or Patriots games, so I'm ticked off about that. I blame Tomlin and his ego. Mitch was his guy and Tomlin cost us the playoffs by being pig-headed.

I love how your view of things is right and that's that. Gotta love the internet.

You can call my opinion stupid and yours correct all you want, it only shows that you aren't worth my breath. Enjoy the remainder of your life. Tomlin is an idiot, so he could very well have taken that childish stance with Rudy.

Have a great day!

canada stiffled this offense
Its the same Canada Scheme.
Not saying Rudolph is the next franchise guy, but he has done enough in 2 games to make it 1000% obvious Pickett ain't it either.

canada stiffled this offense
It felt stifled against AZ and NE.
And I suspect Canada was giggling like a madman.

(But don't anyone for a second confuse that with support for Matt Canada!)

Mason earned the start. It will be interesting to see how this play out in 2024
If he keeps playing well he’ll get a better offer from another team so it will be a non-issue.

You’re right

But is Mason dumb enough/have a big enough chip on his shoulder to keep putting up 30 a game and win a SB just to shove it in our faces and ride off to that big deal in the sky?

Hope so, would be hilarious

My guess is that he is so established in Pittsburgh that he stays, or that he hates the Steelers and leaves.

You pick.

I think Pickett has missed some open guys, checks down too much, and has poor pocket presence and needs to own some of that himself regardless of who is coaching and calling plays

However one of Tomlins greatest sins (one that justifies his firing imo) was investing a 1st round pick in Pickett and handing his development over to a guy Tomlin HAD to have already known was a poor OC out of stubbornness and loyalty to Canada

Lots of coaches have been canned for less

Some folks are pointing out that Mason won against poor teams in Cinci & Seattle. (Specifically that their defenses are weak ). Well, I feel as though AZ and NE were pretty crappy teams too.
Kenny had the Steelers on the Arizona 1-yard line with the game tied 3-3 in the second quarter when he got hurt. New England is a crappy team overall, but their defense is #6 in the NFL. And Mitch played the bulk of those two games at quarterback. I don't know of a single soul who thinks that Trubisky should be starting against the Ravens on Saturday.

Except for the last 2 games.
So who knows, maybe he gets it.

Here's a novel idea. How about we enjoy the two game ride they've had with Mason and hope for more of the same instead knocking the guy. He's been doing great. There'll be plenty of time for that if it even comes to it. Live for the season they're in when they have a chance instead of what next year might bring. What the heck. If a bomb is dropped ,next season never comes.

Just sayin'.
Just because Rudolph played some lower ranked defenses doesn't invalidate his performance.

You're saying KP mustered 3 points against a 2 win team playing on the road.

And clearly Mitch wasn't able to bring it home either.

Course any given Sunday and all that. Unless it happens again... Say the following week...

If I remember correctly, this actually what happened with Belicheck. As i recall, Brady didn't get the chance to start until Drew Bledsoe suffered an injury (chest?). By the time Bledsoe was healthy, Brady had taken the job.
Yes, but the difference was that Bledsoe was the entrenched starter, so Brady sat and learned. The Steelers did not have a starter.

Depending on how Mason does going forward I feel he may end up #1 not KP. As inept or stubborn Tomlin may be, he still wants to win.
Him starting Rudolph rather than KP proves he wants to win.
It also proves he can’t distinguish who is the better QB. All he did was saw that MT was a top pick, so he was going to be the starter come hell or high water. Just because of when he was drafted, even though he had a history of failure. Then when they drafted KP he was going to be #2 because he was a 1st round pick. Rudy never got consideration, but was a true professional and is proving that Tomlin was wrong yet again.
