Russell Failed His Audition

Since this thread is about Wilson a couple things I will say.

We brought him in because he was cheap.
I think many fans were enamored with the fact he had 26 TD’s 8 interceptions in 15 games last season in Denver. (First season in Denver 16 TD’s 11 interceptions) He ended up with 16 TD’s 5 interceptions with us in 11 games. He was pretty close to being on pace for his previous year. We scored 76 more points than previous season.
We wound up winning the same amount of games as the previous season with Pickett having a 6td 4 interceptions in season in 12 games. (What does this say?)

The big,big stat for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense is the RedZone stat. We ended up 29th in the league at 48.21%. The season before without our current 2 illustrious QB’s we were at the bottom of the pack again at 48.89%. Basically no improvement.
By the way……guess who leads the NFL at 74.24%? Hint. They play this Saturday night.

By the way….RedZone defense had us ranked 13th……Baltimore 12th.

Looking at the FA pool in the coming season it’s filled with a bunch of retreads. And according to the guys that know college on here, this class is not all that hot. Especially where we pick. The chatter before the season started was all we needed was a QB that had an average not too many turnover season. Which is exactly what we got.

We never truly synced this season. One game our offense was decent and our Defense sucked. Then our Defense would play a good game and our Offense would suck. Sure would like to see both come together Saturday.

This is why I’m very hesitant to blame the QB this team has had the most success with in the last three years, even if it’s been a mixed bag. The redzone and OL problems persist and the receivers are subpar as well.

According to a story on this site we are getting Aaron Rodgers...so we will be whole next year.............

" Obviously shifting some of the 'crazy component' from the wide receiver room to the quarterback room should be on our agenda as we prepare for our 2025 journey. Aaron comes in with great pedigree, his resume speaks for itself. As I told Mr. Rooney in our meetings in preparation for our upcoming campaign ' Think of how much we'll save on COVID vaccines alone.' There's a fine line between squashing grapes and drinking wine, but Aaron has shown that squashing and taking your own herbs mixed with horse medicine is even better than those two things. And for those of you who think I'm leaving after securing the Aaron Rodgers victory: There isn't a COVID booster with a big enough syringe to separate me from Aaron......never say never, but never. And speaking of never separating: Where's Rooney with my check?"

Take Rodgers over Kyler
Say what you want about Rodgers and his Covid opinions. Somehow he managed to survive Covid without any shots? it's a miracle!!
People are just pissed when someone has a different opinion and stands up to the man. They feel duped and I can't blame them.

We used to have a guy 84 (and befor him Santonio)who could always get open even when doubled AND a guy who would deliver the ball to him consistently. That is no different than Patrick and 87 in KC, Rodgers and Adams in GB, and so many other examples. We've had neither that WR nor that QB for a few years now. It's not just the QB, it's having a guy other teams MUST account for on every play. My hope was that George was going to be that guy.

George is talented but very flawed. He is an emotional basket case and not particularly reliable. He can be fantastic, but he quits on plays runs sloppy routes and doesn't play a professional game. If he played every play like he was getting the ball and ran clean routes he would be accounted for and would also get open more. Russell has a known height problem and teams have started using that against him as we are not consistently getting him out of the pocket to see the field. He can't handle the middle blitz well from the pocket, yet we keep trying.

Dude, the POS thinks that Sandy Hook was an inside job. **** him, Alex Jones and anyone else who believes, or tries to perpetrate, that conspiracy.

He's nuts. When someone argues against proven science they are clearly nuts or stunningly ignorant. Having said that, yes he can do what he wants and it has nothing to do with his QB play. I was just having fun.

Ray Lewis killed
Ray Rice beat his girl
Adrian Peterson beat his kid
Mike Vick had dog fights
Kraft and Watson got handjobs
Players used steroids
Ben maybe got too handsy with some women, maybe raped 1 or 2.
Etc. Etc.

The “tolerant” liberal wants to be the thought police now?
How does it affect you personally what someone else THINKS?
Can he ball or not?
Can he help our team or not?
Why am I supposed to care if he thinks the earth is flat?
Go to the other forum for such things and whine about Alex Jones and politics, you broken record.

I would be stunned if the Vikings let Darnold slip away from them, especially if the Vikings show out in the playoffs. Hell, we'd probably have an easier time trying to work a trade with Minnesota for JJ McCarthy
Would McCarthy be worth it? I don’t know enough about him.

Can’t hurt to offer say Pickens and a 3rd for McCarthy and see if they bite. You’d miss all the shots you don’t take.

You’d have to think they resign Darnold and will want more firepower to put them over the top in the NFC while the window is open.

Jefferson and Pickens- have fun defending that!

People seem to forget Fields was struggling before Russ took over. A few weeks ago everyone was throwing money at Russ when he lit up the Bengals. The second Bengal game Russ had no chance with the horrible game plan. The Browns loss was one of the worst coached games i can remember and that is saying alot. I do not think Fields wins the first Bengals game. The second game Fields might have had success running since we were allergic to passing. There are pros and cons to both guys, but when Russ is allowed to open up the offense he is a much better player. If the Steelers are hell bent on run run pass then I guess you go with Fields

It is truly bizarre Tomlin switched to a conservative O the 2nd time we played the Bungholess in what was basically a playoff game. We'd much rather be playing the Texans this week. The passing game was beautiful with Russ in the 1st game but they decided to run, run, pass the entire 2nd game and they made no adjustments until the late in the 4th when we needed 2 scores to come back and win. That is 100% terrible coaching.

Actually Roger's was 100% correct. Proven science? Not even remotely close.I didn't take that trash shot either. You should read our beautiful Covid thread for enlightenment.

It's more like a big scam and a lot of people should go to prison, but that's a whole new topic.

Yeah, I wasn’t in favor of the Steelers signing Vick either, so spare me. Do you honestly not have any standards? Would you also be open to the Steelers signing a paroled child molester? Yes or no?

I don’t care what Roger’s thinks or says as long as he doesn’t represent my team. I don’t like Antonio Brown, Diontae Johnson or George Pickens representing my team. They’re embarrassments, I have standards.

I wasn’t the one who brought Roger’s politics into the football forum so **** off and address big Ben if you have a problem with it.

I have seen no proof of Rodgers saying Sandy Hook did not happen. He has also denied saying it didn't happen and denied pushing conspiracy theories. As for a QB I think Rodgers is done and he would not survive playing behind our line. He would also probably cause some team turmoil and want big $$. Definitely not worth it

Fields was no struggling, he was being limited. There's a big difference and you even state it in your post..."when Russ is allowed to open up the offense". Fields was never given that luxury. What I will say is we were MUCH more efficient in the redzone with Fields, he didn't take dumb sacks, and what people really forget is the week before Russ took over, is the offense scored 32 points. We had a great day running the ball, with Najee over 100 yards and a TD, and Fields had 2 rushing TD's.

This is why I’m very hesitant to blame the QB this team has had the most success with in the last three years, even if it’s been a mixed bag. The redzone and OL problems persist and the receivers are subpar as well.

You can do both. Yes the offense is limited, and we tend to be pretty conservative...But IN THAT SYSTEM, Russ has regressed and is failing. He's missing wide open guys, he's taking BAD sacks, he's turning the ball over. AND he's not getting any younger. So he isn't magically going to get better in ANY system.

What does Alex Jones and Sandy hook have to do with the Steelers? Zero

He proved he didn't need what they we're selling, forcing. That sounds more sane than to blindly trust an industry that has paid out more in lawsuits than any other single industry in the world.

Um, YOU brought up Rogers political beliefs. The Sandy Hook thing makes him a douchebag, much like Alex Jones. I don’t want the douchebag Aaron Roger’s representing the Steelers.
