From the information in the story, this isn't some staffer running his mouth. This is somebody higher up. Too much detail to be a peon. They would keep this to a very small group, so maybe a cabinet member or head of an agency decided to out this stuff. I don't know. As soon as I heard about the pipeline, I knew it was us. Nobody else has a reason to do it. Our government sees it as an income stream for Russia to fund their war in Ukraine, so naturally they'd want to cut that off.
To your questions, nothing will happen to the administration. Who is going to prosecute them? Not Republicans or Democrats.
Look, I think as a nation, our goose is pretty much cooked. Our politicians are apparently for sale to our enemies, the border is wide open, cartels are operating not only at the border, but in the interior US as well. We are making it a mission to destroy our own children, public education in this country is a joke, common decency is dead, kids murdering each other by the hundreds daily, people confused about their gender, re-writing history, destroying values and institutions, unlimited federal spending, inflation, fuel in short supply, shady elections, political prisoners, double standards, a clueless and mostly outright lying media, de-criminalizing crime, not prosecuting crimes, federally sponsored racism, on and on and on. There is so much more, but I got bummed out typing what I did. Meanwhile, average Americans are divided and pointing fingers at each other based on the letters R and D and skin color while the folks in government enrich themselves on taxpayer money and lobbyist bribes to advance bills that do nothing to help American citizens but it's always the other guy's fault.
Look, it was a great experiment put into motion by men far greater than anything this earth has produced in over 100 years, but it's pretty much over. The grift will continue until there is nothing left to grift, and nobody will stop it. Nobody can stop it. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Generation X is the last chance for this country, and we're aging out. Millenials and Generation Z, with a few exceptions, hate this country even though it provides them with more than most of them could ask for if they'd just hustle and get it. They aren't defending this nation with any vigor.
We are spiraling toward WWIII and the possibility of nuclear armageddon exists. The sad part is, we will likely have started it. As a kid, I grew up believing that our government was true and just and the rest of the world that hated us were just evil. Turns out, the evil was in my back yard the whole time.
