Say Good Bye to Heinz Field

Sorry to see Pittsburgh associated name end, but thankful it’s not the shady UPMC. At least they’ll get rid of the corny ketchup bottle pouring Heinz Red Zone.

Now I'm even a little more perturbed.

Found the definition of the prefix Acri to mean "to sour".
Worse yet Acrid means:
: sharp and harsh or unpleasantly pungent in taste or odor :

Perfect name for Steeler haters that refer to Heinz Field as a bowl of unflushed urine.

Thanks Rooney

They probably don't have the capital to put in a bid for the naming rights, but a local Pgh name that's nationally known would've been pretty cool.

This makes it worse: my buddy said that he found out yesterday that US Steel was supposed to be named as the sponsor , but had to back out because of breaking EPA environmental laws. US Steel Stadium would have been PERFECT!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!
What environmental laws? US Steel is a publicly traded company. Has international investments and sub companies. It has no ties to the government (except for independent contracts), it would be no different than any other energy or manufacturing company paying for existing NFL stadium rights.

You are right though, it would have been perfect. It sure isn’t due to lack of capital. US Steel brought in over 20 billion revenue last year alone!

I don't know and I don't really care to know. He was right about a lot of what he's told me and he works at the stadium, so. . .

This one hurts a little. Would've been absolutely a perfect corporate sponsor. Poni just got done saying on the radio a Pittsburgh company was finalist that absolutely no one would've had an issue with, so I have little doubt he was talking about the same company.

It could have been the clairton cokeworks issues from tge last few years… they had a major accidental release a couple years ago and inadvertently violated several other emission limits recently… tge were fined 4.6 million tgen 1.8 million… they canceled a 1.5 billion dollar upgrade to the area mills and instead announced a 3 billion dollar facility in Arkansas… its possible they are angling to move out of this area

How does that deal with naming rights, bad PR? I would assume they just offered much less than whatever the company who bought the rights did.

Acridshit stadium. What a stupid name for a company and a lousy name for a stadium. Yeah, take that cash. And then in 15 years have the friggen taxpayers foot the bill for either renovations or a new place.

I still call it 3 rivers. Then again I still say I am going to Peoples to pick up my meds.

I like it. Good job, Steelers. Good job, Acrisure Insurance.

A significant bump up from last year.

Makes more sense now knowing the amount, not that we are supposed to like that they picked a Michigan based company over a Pittsburgh affiliate.

does this mean the steelers will lose to Ohio teams now?

US Steel would have been most fitting. Can't argue with 10 million a year. Think I'll call it "Jesse James Caught That Ball Field".
