Say Good Bye to Heinz Field

Welcome to the Acrid Sore.

I wouldn't even name an insurance company "Acrisure" Sounds ****** awful.

This Rooney isn't a pimple on his dads or granddads back side. Total greed does not respect community or loyalty. He should have stepped up.

Word, I heard from my wife, please don't beat her up for not knowing where she seen the article. Heinz put a bid in, and Rooney is the one that took the higher bid. Beat me up as much as you will just something we read.

what a shame. For people that don’t live in Pittsburgh,Heinz Company is synonymous with the city.
Did Heinz make a bid for the naming rights this time around? I googled it ,but didn’t find a heck of a lot.
Yeah they got outbid- by alot.

If it has anything to do with the insurance industry maybe the ketchup bottle can be replaced by a wallet with dollar bills falling out.

Q. Three Rivers lasted 30 years. Heinz/Acrisure is 20. Do those of you living in Pittsburgh expect a longer than 30 year shelf life. The place still seemed pretty good to me last time I visited.

Multipurpose stadiums weren't good. I fully expect a longer shelf life unless the Rooney's get jealous of these over-the-top stadiums in other cities. I think Heinz Field is fine (outside of the food lines and prices). They've upgraded the end zone, restrooms, added a team store and soon-to-be Hall of Fame. They also have a great area around the stadium and have the plus that it's right in downtown. I'm not sure if they'd have room to build another in downtown and I definitely don't want it to move to the suburbs.

To me a stadium is about seating and sight lined. As long as it is structurally fine the only point to replace is greed. Do cosmetics if you need to.

Same. I look at some of these new billion dollar stadiums and the upper level seats look about a mile from the field. It was one of the reasons I hated AT&T Stadium in Arlington. It may be cool for the rich people in the suites but it kinda sucked for the general crowd. I want good sightlines, a nice scoreboard, and a good sound system. Fast bathroom and concession lines is a huge plus.

AntiChrist Stadium
Well, there IS this similarity...

Rooney indicated he wants to be at the stadium beyond the current lease and even past the length of the naming rights of this new deal. Seems like he's committed long term, which makes sense.

this should help the amount they will get per year keep every 5-8 years cosmetic upgrades or expansions, maintenance and continue good playing surface and keep the new sod they lay in late November dec a trend as by with 3 tenants the grass takes a beating esp if pitt plays sat and Steelers Sunday. I hope we keep spending on the mustard bowl and even in 15 years are not going to think build new one just expand and consistent renovations like GB, KC.
It is ridiculous that CLV and Cincy are asking for new digs.
