Adam Schefter is throwing a story out there that Mike Tomlin could sit out the 2024 season.
Take it for what it’s worth and he doesn’t back it up with any sources but to add to this I heard the same thing yesterday on a Pittsburgh sports talk show.
Most likely just click bait!

Saw the piece live. All speculation. No facts.
"Could be", "Maybe"

Saw that... just chalked it up to look at me without any substance.

Little tired of the media trying to threaten me with a good time.

How interesting would it be if he DID sit out and another interim coach stepped in and this team won 10+ games without the great Mediocre Mike….
Which is exactly why Tomlin wouldn't dare sit out. He may be a mediocre coach but he's far from a stupid man. I'm sure he realizes there's a good chance that could happen.

Not sure it would lessen his chances of latching on somewhere if someone stepped in and shined.

His winning record would still be attractive to those clubs that would be happy with winning seasons.

Plus I have seen some of these retread coaches get multiple opportunities.

File this in the round one next to KP refusing to dress. This team is prepping for playoffs. Schefter is trying to seem relevant

Wouldn't the narrative be he did it with Tomlin's players?

I cannot see even Art II going the interim coach route.
I think the organization wants an all in HC and how would you be able hire coordinators and assistant coaches?
Some of what I heard yesterday from Paul Alexander Pittsburgh sport show host that Tomlin may be giving in to Mrs. Tomlin a woman’s fashion designer who may want to go to a market like Atlanta or LA. Supposedly she loves LA.
Wonder if she’s a fan of Justin Herbert?

All horseshit. These guys who have never stepped into a locker room or Press conference just make up stuff because the media knows fans are ravenous for anything on Black Monday. All these “insiders” have are agents maneuvering their clients through the media. Most of the radio jocks (Poni, Fittipaldi, and Madden the ***) don’t know anything but what they throw on the wall. I’d go so far and say some of the Athletic writers are in the click game rather than actual newsworthy stories as well.

Glazer mentioned something earlier this season and with both Schefter and Glazer mentioning this over the weekend, there has to be some smoke. It may mean nothing in the grand scheme, but he has been in one place for a long time and may be ready for a change, whether it's a break from coaching or a change of scenery.

Look at the openings:

Washington - close to home and would probably get a huge payday.
Los Angeles - apparently his wife likes it there and they have Justin Herbert.
Atlanta - Tomlin's daughter committed to Georgia for gymnastics. They have a solid roster outside of QB and Blank would probably pay him very well.

Who?

I’d love to see Tomlin move on, but I wonder if he’d want to take on a rebuild under an owner who just showed himself willing to fire an underperforming coach, kinda doubt it
