Schefter at it again.

Well when KP is the QB1 next year, we shall see who he might become. Next year will probably be his last shot at securing the starting job moving forward.

The only chance of KP not being QB1 is if Rudolph plays well and we win at least a couple of playoff games. Even then, they would still have to sign Rudolph.

AND

With Coach Tomlin still listing KP as the starting QB, that helps Mason in his decision making.

Right now, and a lot could happen game win wise, I’d give it a 60 / 40 Rudolf is gone.

Whatever transpires during the game I just hope that Rudolph is pulled if need be. Obviously this wouldn't apply if he played well. Just make a timely decision if warranted....

Smart *** Tomlin...who gets his feelings hurt when ever anything remotely hints at the fact he screwed up the QB order and now won't list Mason as QB 1. Hey, he doesn't seek comfort though.

Gheezus, folks on here acting like there isn’t a playoff game to watch Sunday. I’ll probably get flamed off the board for this, but here goes…. Name any PIT coach (oh wait, since 69‘ there has only been Chaz, Chin, and Tomlin) who hasn’t responded with attitude. Hell, name any coach. I’ve seen Andy Reid fire off at a couple folks in the past and he’s the most laid back HC I’ve ever seen. Noll, who had a great relationship with Myron, was all business during press conferences, but detested questions that provoked answers that allowed unnecessary speculation.

Cowher, absolutely abhorred the PIT media while he was HC because of the same folks who would ask questions just to dovetail into motivated trigger questions and speculation. Wasn’t it someone at the PG that started the whole Cowher and his wife’s marriage in flux BS, that Chin opened a press conference stating “He and Kay are FINE”. Only later to find out his wife was battling privately a serious skin cancer that eventually took her life. Yeah, I can see why he was arrogant sometimes.

Tomlin is no different than either of those coaches, nor the majority of coaches that get these “quotable coaching decision“ questions. Hell, don’t see folks yelling about Vrabel’s response to losing to that asinine reporter who asked the question. All coaches have to have a defensive stance, when it comes to the press, its the only way to control their narrative.

Folks just need to say you want Tomlin gone instead of making up excuses as to why he needs to be gone. It doesn’t matter why, because even if he was to win another SB (doubtful this year) some folks are going to still want him gone.

I agree, but we all know what will happen. Rudolph will only be pulled if he gets injured, or if they fall behind beyond the point of being able to come back.

Attitude over a roster list? It's self explanatory dude,Divorce...cancer..yeah understandable to be defensive and have an attitude.

A name on a list....LOL. You can see the ego and the arrogance.

Everyone in that press corp knows the depth chart list is a requirement the League demands, just like the injury list (which is also usually not realistic). Teams have to have the players listed, partly for “gamesmanship” and partly for the fans. Anyone with an understanding of what goes on in the locker room knows the “depth chart” is what the coaches tell the players, not a list the team has to put on their website. Most seasoned press know this, but others still attempt to create a speculative notion just to “have a story”, when there really isn’t one.

The year O’Donnell left (in 96) the starting QB for the first regular season game was Jim Miller. After two quarters Cowher replaced him with Tomczak. When questioned about pulling QB1 so fast ad nauseam during the press conference, Cowher stated HE made the decision then and players are always “defining their roles” on the team. Throughout the season, not just after training camp. So Cowher is cleverly just as arrogant as you may think Tomlin is. All because a reporter asked a lazy question about a chart that has no meaning to the coaching staff or players in the locker room.

There are a lot of things to get worked up about with coaches in general, but dying on a hill about a League mandated chart isn’t one of them. JMO.

Exactly...this is not something to get worked up about yet Mikey lost his ****...enough said.

And I don't understand how Cowher's answer is arrogant. If he would have said " I pulled Miller and it's none of your business why." then I could see it. His answer sounds like he's just answering the question, not like he's butt hurt as Mikey clearly displayed.

Ego and arrogance from a middling coach. That's all.

If you saw Cowher‘s press conference you can see the context. This was the first game against a year two franchise. A dozen press guys were questioning the decision. ”Why wasn’t Tomczak considered the starter out of training camp?” “If he was the better QB, shouldn’t he been QB1 for the opening game?” Just a barrage of questions regarding the young HC making drastic changes, questioning his mindset, etc..Cowher just turned the question on its head. The PG, Trib and most of the national press was killing Cowher over demoralizing a young QB after handing him the start after the preseason.

Same context here. Except, we are talking about a year end depth chart. Gheez, Tomlin had already said they were going with the hot hand at QB. Not the first time a QB1 didn’t get his job back after injury (remember Bledsoe?). Name any coach who wasn’t arrogant, or who didn’t have an ego and you will name the first.

I think a network would pay Tomlin 20M just to talk and don't hold back on riddles and rhymes. Easier and less time consuming than coaching. Look what Brady gets.

That's easy: Dick Vermeil...for one with no ego. I hear what you are saying though.

He'd go Dennis Miller to try and show everyone how much smarter he is than they are(albeit Mikey would be the "JV" version of Miller) and they'd have to dump him after a season.

He’d be a good choice no doubt, however he had a tiring issue with a couple of the Philly reporters when he was in PHI. Sal Palentonio I think acknowledged it. Then again anything in PHI is/was abrasive aggravating even to this day. I’ll say the least ego driven coaches ever in the league would be Coach Landry and the great Vince Lombardi. But they had a few moments themselves.
