Schefter at it again.

he is under contract in 2024. can he sit out without losing a **** ton of $$$$$$$$$$$$$

Glazer mentioned something earlier this season and with both Schefter and Glazer mentioning this over the weekend, there has to be some smoke. It may mean nothing in the grand scheme, but he has been in one place for a long time and may be ready for a change, whether it's a break from coaching or a change of scenery.

Look at the openings:

Washington - close to home and would probably get a huge payday.
Los Angeles - apparently his wife likes it there and they have Justin Herbert.
Atlanta - Tomlin's daughter committed to Georgia for gymnastics. They have a solid roster outside of QB and Blank would probably pay him very well.

Glazer is apparently pretty tight with Tomlin. Him reporting it carries a "bit" more weight than Schefter, but Tomlin is still under contract for one more season.

Unless there is a trade, he isn't coaching for anyone but the Steelers in 2024, and there is very little chance the Chargers or Commanders jobs would be available again in 2025.

It's possible he's just ready for a break. He's been with the team longer than Cowher was at this point.

Take it for what it’s worth and he doesn’t back it up with any sources but to add to this I heard the same thing yesterday on a Pittsburgh sports talk show.
Most likely just click bait!
Serious question - how often are Schefter's out of left field hot-takes correct v incorrect?

Wouldn't the narrative be he did it with Tomlin's players?
I’m ready for that. Taking a page out of the TFC’s book, the new coach took mediocre perennial playoff loser and molded them into a playoff winner.

Right, which we heard them talk about the Payton situation but Glazer also floated out the idea of a trade.

Cook and Joe talked about it. Peter King talked. Behind the scenes perhaps some contact was made to tomlins agent looking into availability?

It’s the hot topic on Pittsburgh sports radio. The fact that Jay Glazier who is close to Tomlin brought it up makes it more intriguing.
IMO the top spots would have to be LA Chargers with Justin Herbert, Washington which is back home and Atlanta with a pretty good roster but needing a QB.
We shall see when this goofy season ends for the Steelers.
Still find it very interesting that Tomlin didn’t get the extension last season. He always gets it with two years left.

I do not think that's totally surprising, given the Steelers are approaching a decade without any playoff success, which hopefully changes on Sunday.

Art2 may not be as satisfied with merely "non- losing" seasons as he's often criticized for, or Tomlin even may not want an extension for whatever reason.

If there is any substance to all this, we'll see something definitive within a week or so after the season ends. It would not be permitted to drag on into the Spring.

Either Tomlin would retire, or a trade would be announced quite quickly.

Still think it's BS, though.

Just something for people to gossip about. A distraction.

I'd rather have Joan Jett / Dolly Parton / Eva langora / Jennifer Gray as distractions. !!!

Tomlins youngest graduates soon, I think... so if he wanted a break or a change it would dovetail nicely

I only went with them because of all the Old farts on this board. They are also in the vintage of our last playoff win !!!

Plenty of younger adult ladies available then, Amy Adams, Jessica Chastain, Jen Garner, Emma Stone…Emily Ratajkowski, Adriana Lima, Kate Upton, Lindsey Vonn…..Although Mrs DIC would probably kill them all if they showed up.

Meh if they were looking to trade him, this could be a ploy to limit what they ask for him

You know.. the old " the bar is closing soon, and if you dont take my crappy offer, you are going to go home alone" ploy

Listening to Adam ******* is only likely to lead to frustration and rage. Avoid! :)

This seems like the type of “reporting” that happens when there is not enough turnover on black Monday

Don't threaten me with a good time ;)

Like tge PG pointed out, Tomlin is currently negotiating a contract extension so its probably a ploy to try to get to the highest paid hc title...
