Schefter reporting Steelers are now listening to trade offers for Bell (jets maybe)

As others have said.... bare minimum would be a 3rd. But trade him as fast as you can. Someone has to be willing ti offer a 1st or 2nd for him

I wouldnt touch earl Thomas. That is like beating one cancer only to be told you have lung cancer.

Technically a team that accepts a trade and has deep cap space could tag Bell again if needed and then work out a heavily front loaded long term deal that would satisfy Bell in the offseason, so the suggestion that Bell can only be a one year rental is not necessarily true. With a little creativity a deal could be worked out where the Steelers get value in return.

So a dumb team willing to pay him franchise qb money... who also hasn’t blown all their cap space... and needs a rb right now... thats a short list

They sooner he signs and a trade can be worked out I’d think the higher potential for a better return. The other team would have more usage from him.

Anyway see ya, bye, get the hellnoutnof apittsburgh ya bum

The 49ers lost thier starting RB for the year to injury and have 40 mil in cap space... I'd get on the phone with them RIGHT NOW.

The tag amount could be converted into a guaranteed signing bonus, then you work out a deal where the average balances out to the 15-17 million he's looking for over say, 5 years, not QB money. I'm sure there's a few creative ways it could be worked out.

Welcome to last year when he still had trade value.

The starting point is a third. If multiple teams interested should be able to get a first. That would be huge. 2 firsts next year should keep us in contention for a SB.

I don't see how this can happen. A trade would only be for the rest of the season, then he will be a free agent. Who gives anything of great value for that kind of deal, especially for a player with his attitude and history.

No..I still think that the Rooney's should have tagged him with a "non-exclusive" and settled the argument one way or the other. but then again, that wouldn't have been any easier to make happen.

We are pretty much stuck with him unless they just rescind the tag, cut him loose and take the third round compensation next year.

The franchise tag is going to be a major point of discussion at the time of the next labor deal. I see it being reduced to a one time thing.

We aren't stuck with him. We own his rights, and I'll have to do some digging, but I think that can be traded (much like the retired Carson Palmer trade to OAK). I could be wrong with that, but I'm not sure. However, I know for a FACT, that if we rescind the tag and cut him loose. We also lose the right to any compensation pick the following year. We don't know when Bell plans to report...he might be going back to his original statement he made in Jan where he said he wouldn't play under the tag again, and would sit out the entire year or retire if tagged again.

If that's the case, we are just getting the ball rolling and letting teams know we are open for business when it comes to Bell. It could be this year, it could be in the offseason. But Bell has burned his bridges here in Pittsburgh, with his lack of workouts, his tweets, his non communication with the FO whether it be directly or thru his agent. Basically we put Bell on notice. We're done with you, no more playing games, no more mr nice guy.

Steelers might as well do what they can to get something instead of nothing.

I hope this turns out to be true. Find a interested party, contact him. Sign the tag and trade him.............

Adam Scheffer is rather accurate. After saying sign and trade with many saying you're wrong, it just might happen. We shall see:bump:

Steelers will not take anything less than a first, and I think they are trying to get multiple picks for him. A 1st and 3rd or 1st and 4th is ideal.

Colbert will get the best deal. Bell isn't going back. A trade with clause on it makes sense. We get a 2nd and 3rd if we trade bell and team XYZ re-signs him for a multi year deal. If Bell leaves in free agency, then we only get a 3rd round pick.

I'd take that! And the cap space!

Actually, I think I read that Breida went back in the game, I don't think he's hurt as bad as was originally thought.

Thoughtd...

Obviously, this involves Bell and at least one other team to get the deal done.

The amount of the franchise tag is set... or is it? A team could potentially pay Bell MORE than the franchise tag this year... in order to incentivize Bell to get on the field ASAP. More money could definitely lure him onto the field earlier this year.

We need at least a 1st... probably more... maybe a one and a three? Or maybe a one plus another pick based on Bell signing a long term deal after the season.

If the team he is traded has plenty of cap room next year... they could definitely max tag him for QB money to increase time to work out a long term deal.

There are enough moving parts on this to actually get it done.

There’s zero chance anyone trades a 1st or more for a rb they could get a half a season from. Some of you are as high as Le’Veon
