I think its like anything else. Everyone wants to look good......so once it happened with NE last week. But it's pre season and it doesn't matter. And I agreed with Hamlin. It appeared like he wasn't going to make it. But let's not forget Shazier.

I once had a friend who drunkenly argued that they should just get a forklift to move injured players off the field to reduce stoppages… and now we cancel games when a player gets carted off… one extreme to another.

He was conscious with movement in all extremities.. that game should not have been canceled. It is different if someone dies or almost dies on the field… getting knocked out is not at that level.

It was only preseason. I don't think these games would have been called in the regular season. The Hamlin incident was different. He had to be revived several times and was touch and go

Will this be a normal occurrence now?

I feel the two situations are very different. Although Shazier's condition was very serious, Hamlin was on the verge of death. Would have easily died without that defibrillator and the people who knew how to use it!
Shazier would have wanted the game to go on.
You stop game, regardless of what we assume Hamling would have wanted.

This situation in Miami is 50/50. For me there isn't a right or wrong.

It's overreaction no doubt, but it's only a pre-season game, so why risk another injury. Fu ck it and just call it a day.
Stopping the game would not have happened had it been a regular season game.

My point was this. They stopped for Hamlin which I agreed with. He appeared likely lost. They did not stop for Shazier where he appeared likely paralyzed. Now they are stopping pre season for Spinals which is fine in pre season. But there will almost certainly be a similar injury in regular season. The ramifications on schedule are too big to stop game for precautionary on a spinal.

It should be up to the players on the injured players team to forfeit or not.

Sir, can you please stop running long enough so that I can pull that silk flag from your g string and lay it gently on the ground?

Daryl Stingley’s injury was during a preseason game.

This generation is different though. The nfl has been caving in more to these injuries since. Hamlins situation could very well change the way the league handles injuries in real time

Hamlin was a one in a 100 million or maybe more. When you think of all the collisions in all these games. But they are going to have to decide what to do in spinal or brain trauma situations based upon severity. That unfortunately will occur this season. It happens every season.

They can’t keep concluding games at later dates. I don’t see how they could carry on with game suspensions.

We learned last year that by the time there is clarity on a very serious injury that suspension equals cancel. Now in the case of what happened last year that's OK. No one could play in the middle of grief. And that will not happen again. But a lesser injury the game goes on. Anyone who has played the game since they were kids has been exposed to scary injuries. Game goes on.

I think we’ll see more Hamlin type of stuff. Only because the tik tok/instagram fitness industry has really promoted pre workout supplements . I’m an avid user myself. Some of the stuff hitting the markets now are running at 300-400mg caffeine per scoop. Pro athletes use these products as well.
