so reports are Minkah came up with the idea behind the last defensive play call and he and Coach Brown pushed Austin into going with it
Throw them hissy fits if it gets things fixed… our long distance defense is idioticI saw him visibly pissed talking to them before they gave up a big third down too.
Minkah has a higher football IQ than the entire staff together.

They see things out there sure why not. Unless it is Emmitt Smith giving the viewpoint. Then I might second guess it...I just was reading about many of the top coaches and coordinators in the league listening a lot to their top players, whether it be the QB on offense or top defensive players.

I think it is time to put the ping back into pong. It can help with catch coordination and paddle grip ability for a WR to hold onto a football. When the ball is in the air it helps with a 50/50 ball . They either see it or miss it. Simultaneously it helps the wrist not go limp. As the Steelers WRs can look limp wristed at any given moment, obviously.I thought he was asking about the ping-pong table being put back into the locker room when I saw this clip the first time. Props to Fitz.
Coordinators are tasked with implementing the philosophy of the HC, unless they are given free reign. Does ANYTHING in Tomlin‘s past make you truly believe that he is giving free reign to those coordinators?Steeler coordinators are below the line, if you will, obviously, but the seats are still filled and merchandise still sold.
Meh.....I don't think it is anywhere close to Bettis' trade. Just my take. The Minkah trade is going to go down as one of the top trades in Steeler history. Right up there with the Bettis trade.
Yeah I just don't think either coordinator is all that good. It will be interesting to see how well they do in arguably what is shaping up to be the most important game of the year for the Steelers.Minkah obviously has situational awareness that is greater than the Steelers' staff.
That an injured player has better insight, in the moment, than a paid professional team of coaches clarifies the real problem.
This is very similar to Ben drawing up sandlot plays. The inflexible coaching style, with few in game adjustments, needs upgrading to modern NFL strategic decisions, in the moment. The players, naturally able to react to changing conditions, are way ahead of the coaches.
It's most surprising that this inflexibility has not been brought up more by former players; its kinda obvious that this resides with Tomlin. Just watch the replay with Minkah and Austin; Tomlin was deeply involved at the crucial moment and would have been ok with Austin call before Minkah erupted.
This is a really easy fix, for those willing to adapt.
I think Shades made the original call, Austin relayed it and then Minkah got upset. So Tomlin had to hear, agree and then ok Austin to change the call.Yeah I just don't think either coordinator is all that good. It will be interesting to see how well they do in arguably what is shaping up to be the most important game of the year for the Steelers.
We can debate which was better, but my point was it is ONE OF the best ever.Meh.....I don't think it is anywhere close to Bettis' trade. Just my take.
