Terrell Austin needs to be fired day after season ends. He was terrible in Detroit and Cincinnati but yet Shades hires him.
This franchise is badly broken and it goes much deeper than just a bad, overpaid, overrated defense.
Rooney has to stop trying to apply gauze and bandaids to a badly broken franchise.
Non losing seasons are not where the bar should be set.

Yeah, but it's not just Austin. Tomlin is supposed to be a defensive coach and good with defensive backfields yet his secondaries have blown chunks year after year. Bad at player selection, bad at player development, bad at situational football in the waning moments of a game when you know where and who the other guy wants to get the ball yet they **** the bed year after year game after game...Tim Tebow anyone?

What about this blast from the past where his Tampa 2 is exposed as the safeties are supposed to get wide (and do) exposing the middle of the field. We've all seen it, over, and over, and over.

Again, the "chess vs checkers" analogy permeates my brain when we play the superior staffs. It's maddening.

Clearly the last sentence is a reference to the fact that for the D to be successful all players need to be on the same page and carrying out their assigment, and if just one player doesn't then the D is going to have a hard time succeeding, not that there is one specific player who is the problem.

Kind of my take too... I think too many guys are trying to make tge home run play instead of the simple one... safeties cheating... olbs overcommitting..cbs guessing on routes to get an edge

He didn't like getting called out for his garbage play last season, now he's literally crying to the media about 1 player out of 11.
He is supposed to be the leader, he should take responsibility for the garbage defense he is the captain of. Thats what leaders do, they take full responsibility.
They don't cry to the media, they keep it in the locker room.
Cam has had a good season, he still isn't worth his contract. Take some responsibility Cam, instead of pretending like 1 guy is the problem. His defense has been getting ran through for literally his entire career.

Meh.....his stat line looks good. I can't argue that. He never has been a leader in the locker room. Why try to start now? And leaders don't talk to the media to get their message out.

He is a leader on The field. I don't know about the locker room as I am not in it.

I find it comical than anyone who actually watches the games, think Cam is part of the problem

His little tit for tat with Minkah is loser stuff. Cam is NO LEADER when he aires the dirty laundry to the public, especially at this point in the season. He's an entiitled Ahole.

No wonder Minkah has checked out. He's watch this Tomlin amateur hour stuff for years.

This is the most aggravating thing about the Steelers D, no swarm and gang tackling. Years ago you would always see 5+ defenders on every tackle.

lol. thanks. I needed a good laugh today. I am not a Tomlin lover, again I just do not have the need to bash him at every occasion. I have a pretty damn good life outside of my football team. hope you get there 1 day.

This is Tomlin’s whole Tampa 2 scheme. Do NOT get beat over the top, ever, at all costs. His whole scheme is allow the catch but stop the yac, make them go 10-15 plays to score, and hope they eventually make a mistake. While this philosophy can work against the bottom 20 teams, it doesn’t against the top 10 teams. Sometimes it doesn’t even work against the the bottom 5, because they are pros too.

This is why I BELIEVE, they lose badly when they do get to the playoffs. You can’t play soft Defense with one philosophy all year long, then try to change it in the playoffs.

BINGO. Tomlin figured out that formula long ago. Play bend-but-don-break, wait for mistakes and win enough games/beat enough bad teams to keep the paychecks flowing. I won't even go out for this year's playoff game. This will be the first time I don't go to a 200 Steeler party. It's insanity at this point.

Tomlin is the problem. No argument there. Attacking him in every single thread is a problem.
If you get a better life outside of football, you will not feel the need to attack so much. Hope it helps!
