Orpik and Niskanen too much for them

dirty rags still at it - Glass starts a fight at the very end

Double OT winning goal by one of the young guys.

Tyler Johnson leading goal scorer in playoffs. Undrafted. Stamkos has zero goals. No idea what happened to him.

Same thing that happens to Crosby and Malkin every spring. The rules change and they get nullified by interference.

Haven't watched hockey long (6 years or so). I think in understand what interference is supposed to be, but it seems to be the NHL equivalent of NFL' s offensive holding. You see it called and a few min either the same thing or worse is not called.

Consistency is not a strong suit of NHL officiating. Interference can actually be just contact with someone before they have the puck or after they get rid of it (never mind you can lift a guys stick, that's not interference). Interference is also obstructing someone's progress when they don't have the puck which almost never gets called when a guy dumps the puck into the O zone and tries to skate in after it......used to be if the D man left his lane to any degree to block off the man trying to get to the puck it was interference. Today D guys can practically skate clear across the ice to impede, doesn't get called.

Then to Sarge's point it all gets called differently in the PO's which make zero sense. Several years ago the league really cracked down on interference because fans wanted to see higher scoring games and see the superstars get to show their skills. Not sure why but we seem to be right back to what Mario used to refer to as "garage" league hockey.

2-0 Way to Go!

Bolts and Despres Ducks!

crushing the spines of Canadians everywhere

Damn Hawks keep winning. Hoping the Ducks stomp them, but I don't see it. They are a complete team and their stars continue to contribute. Who knew???

Con's probably hung over this morning after a "Habs got a mudhole stomped in 'em" party."

Lightning swept the Habs during the regular season. Last night seemed to be some frustration exploded over getting swept in the playoffs last year.

Enjoyable.

Despres was a total stud in this game - he's the only reason I keep watching - the Ducks and Bolts in the SCF!

I predict

That is who I put in my bracket, but I don't have any real hope that the lightning make it past the Rangers. I don't want St. Louis to get another Cup.

Orpik and The Mighty Niskanen too much for the Dirty Rags AGAIN!

1-0

ha ha

Ray Shero to the Devils. Glad he got another gig. I thought he was a good GM. Tried to put the best team on the ice with what he could.

The thing that pisses me off about the Rags Craps series is that Brooks Orpik looks nothing like the pylon he was his last 2 seasons in Pittsburgh. He looks pretty darn good actually.

He was always rather solid for the Pens, but did you see him hustle back to disrupt the 2 on 1? That's not the Brooks I knew and loved. He was more of a stay at home, keep your head on a swivel dman. I had to ask "why didn't we re-sign him again?" last night.

Trade Kunitz and Scuderi to the Devils!

The New Jersey Devils have named Ray Shero general manager, president Lou Lamoriello announced Monday afternoon during an impromptu conference call.

Shero for his Fire & Ice blog Monday, asking the GM about the possibility of hiring Dan Bylsma to coach in New Jersey. The two men, of course, won a Cup with Pittsburgh in 2009 and worked together on Team USA. Both were fired by the Penguins after the end of last season.

"Dan and I worked well together, but it's one of those things that it's a little dangerous to have certain preconceived notions or ideas on people or players because you're going to be surprised both ways is what I've found," Shero said.

"I believe Dan is a really good coach. He'll be a head coach again in the National Hockey League, but I've got to do what's best for the Devils, and Dan's got to do what's best for him and if that leads us a certain way, so be it. But, as I speak to you now, there's certainly no preconceived notion on any persons or player or staff member."
