Steeler VS clowns game day thread

Jarvis had some good plays and some not so good plays. On that last sack we had (and the sack was key), Keisel and Jones got absolutely no push on their side of the line. Dress McCullers and let him play a few series in each game.

bottom line, the play calling on both sides of the ball was suspect in the 2nd half with very few adjustments when it started getting ugly

Maybe this deserves a thread,,, but wtf was cam Thomas doing out there in the 2nd half besides nothing.. He was slow,, no push,, and was one v one every down...

No doubt about that, scrap. They came out wrong after the half and then took too long to make adjustments.

Its a win..**** it....it counts towards the division and the conference for playoff contention. But theres some things that need to be fixed...especially on defense and the middle of that zone. Shazier played a decent game but was out of position on a couple of those big plays. TE's gashed us...running backs gashed us.

LeBeau has some work to do.....(dont know if stamina played a role in the defensive collapse)

Exactly. This O is going to be explosive once the line gets some games under their belt. The D who knows?

I agree scrapdog.. kudos for the game plan.. they both looked great in the first half.. But they need to adjust quicker.. On defense it feels like lack of leadership on the field.

right, after the Stains scored the back to back TDs, they should have went right back to the no huddle and passing game like the did on the first drive

...instead, they kept forcing their will on the ground. The Browns' have a decent rush D.....should've kept to the quick release passing attack.....Ben's got more weapons then he knows what to do with

The defensive problems are personnel, not scheme. It's not Lebeau's fault Jarvis is useless, the DL has no run defenders, and the secondary only has 1 playmaker, Polamalu who is slowing down.

Spot on. There isn't a pass rusher on the team anywhere close to a Harrison, Porter, Gildon, Greene, or Lloyd. Hell, they might not be as good as Haggans. And the front 3, forget it.

Should have just stuck with the No Huddle to start the second half. Haley decided to get cute and it screwed up the rhythm of the O. That kind of "genius" coordinating costs teams games. And if it's true that Tomlin was chewing his azz out as they left the field then Tomlin screwed up. He should've got in his azz much much sooner.

The O looked absolutely unstoppable in the first half - both running and passing. They need to get the 60 minute men t-shirts back out. You put the pedal down for 60 minutes. I don't care if we put up 50 on them, we should have gone no huddle most of the 2nd half.

Btw, he takes a lot of crap from us fans, but thank God for Willie Gay. We don't win that game without that last sequence of plays he made.

Gay might have been the player of the game. He certainly saved the game for us.

Won't happen. Haley needs to show what a "genius" he is when calling the plays from a traditional structure rather than giving Ben a handful of plays to choose from. Has to take Ben out of the equation so that he can look good and let everyone know that he's the O Coordinator that's winning games.

That same personnel was good enough to shut them down for a half. Are you saying their coaches made adjustments and he can't? He gets a pass, why? Ben/Haley or whoever called the offense in the second half is just as much to blame. Playing not to lose and conservative almost cost them the game. They were extremely lucky to escape with a win in a game where they were dominant for a half. Ridiculous all around. I'm not forgetting Tomlin's role in it, but beating a dead horse isn't my thing.

We totally went away from what worked on offense in the 2nd half. The entire team some how came out flat.

If that's the case, then Ben needs to throw Haley under the bus and say he was the reason they shut it down in the 2nd half. I'm tired of this crap. We finally came out to start a game and went for the jugular only to completely shut things down in the 2nd half because we had a huge lead. With that lead, the D should have had their ears pinned back and going all out for Hoyer.

Just love it when people give LeBeau a pass.

He doesn't deserve a pass, as I'm certain he has a say in personnel matters, but in a 3-4 scheme, if all the lineman can frequently be moved one-on-one and if both your OLBs play like hot garbage, like JJ and Worlids did today, it's going be LONG ******* season.

A lot of that is whatever the ten stooges draw up at half time. It was an epic fail across the board by every coach involved. If a player needs to be hyped up to play he is *** in my book. Rah rah for grown men is overrated.

Catch 22 for Ben. If he doesn't say anything, the same crap continues to happen. If he does say something, then it's "Ben's a drama queen", "not a team guy" etc. Or the infamous cry of Steelers fans everywhere about "The Steeler Way".

The D started the half out with that mentality, but the Browns stuck to their guns and the running game. They didn't fight back because Hoyer was making throws all over the field. They came back because they were gashing us for 8-9 yards a carry with back up running backs. The run set up the play action. The Browns didn't panic, executed their gameplan, and we took too long to adjust. We squeaked out a win, but that run D needs some work.
