Steelers Draft Rumors

I've never spent much time in the past wondering who should be taken, or the moves the Steelers should make, maybe it's because I have more free time now and having 3 picks in the first 50.

Anyhow, because of this, what's the over/under that if they do trade up, their guy will still be there? I'm sure they do their homework, but it would be more than disappointing if they trade up for say Paris and he's off the board at their pick.

They won’t pull the trigger early. They will sit until it’s at that teams pick and then make the trade should their guy they want, still be there.

Anything can happen, but this should be how it works.

I think I've gotten to the point where I definitely don't want Porter at 17. Too many flaws in his game when reading the scouting reports and the lack of making plays on the ball when compared with other prospects who should be available to the Steelers. If he wasn't Joey Porter's son, would the Steelers supposedly be this interested?
For me it always was gonzalez but as that probably was never gonna happen then Witherspoon is the other one in my opinion worth 1.17. After both of them there's a lot of options at a similar talent level through all the late 1st up until maybe even mid 3rd round, so better attack another position and let the chips fall at CB

our team gets exponentially better with a stronger run game. Run games been weak. Chuks has been part of all of it. We could put coolie in as a SLUT, if we can run the ball.

I think Coolie could go both ways……….

didn't read through this whole thread so i don't know if it was mentioned that CJ Stroud is rumored to have scored shockingly low on the S2 cognitive test.

The S2 replaced the wonderlic. This is not an IQ test. It's a test that has you track objects and make quick visual decisions. If Stroud really did score that poorly, it could be an issue. A knock on him was that he wasn't great under pressure. If he has a clean pre snap read, he's deadly but make him read something and he struggles.

Two of the scores leaked by the reporter are not accurate at all says the co-founder of the S2.

"We have seen, ‘Hey, so-and-so scored the highest in the class, or the highest ever, and so-and-so scored low,’ and it’s like, ‘Yeah, that’s not true,’” Ally continued. “With that being said, this class as a whole—all the guys in the discussion—have scored really, really well.”

All he said was that 2 of the scores were wrong. Doesn't mean Stroud is one of the wrong scores. I have no idea if it's true or not. NFL teams will have the real numbers. If that number for Stroud is legit then that is a red flag. If he does fall in the draft, this is likely why.

I did hear something interesting from Cris Collinsworth about the QBs. He mentioned that Richardson's release time is very slow. So slow that he's not even playable at the NFL level unless a QB coach can fix it.

I'm not a draft expert, but from the sidelines here's how I view the QBs.

Bryce Young - He'll be good, but his size is very limiting. Whoever drafts him won't touch a Super Bowl with him at QB.
CJ Stroud - Checks every box and will be successful in the right system. A superstar? Probably not, but can develop into a winner in the right situation.
Will Levis - Big arm, but overall a third- or fourth-round prospect.
Anthony Richardson - I'm stunned he came out after the season had in college. I wouldn't touch him until day 3 and he'll likely need a year or two on the sidelines.

You're right, he did say that. He also didn't say that Stroud wasn't one of those two. He did however strongly indicate that NFL GMs were incorrectly weighing the value of his test. He also flat out said that none of the QBs tested from this draft tested poorly.
My post was just to add contrast and context to what is out there.

There was this board game called Monday Night Football, my best friend and I were both STEELERS die-hards. We would actually fight (literally wrestle-ish) to se who got to be the STEELERS when we played. His mom would have to break us up occasionally. About a 50/50 split.

Richardson screams Action Jackson for me. I wouldn't touch him unless he did a position switch. Lewis is a mystery to me, I think he will be over drafted. A mystery in I really have no idea which way his pendulum of NFL success will swing.

There is a Hooker in the mix that might shimmy his way into a sleeper performer and become the cream of the crop.. stay tuned.

I recall reading the draft picks in the paper the day after the draft. Not many probably recall that the draft used to be held in February and nobody paid attention. I mean ZERO publicity. Also, I am pretty sure that Zona and I are some of the few who recall when newspapers printed certain information in the sports section in really tiny type. Baseball "player transactions" was one such topic. So-and-so went on the DL? Tiny type.

For the draft, no article, no big deal - just the names listed for each team, not the round, or what pick number, just the name. Anyhoo, the Steelers 1st round pick was at the very bottom of a preceding column in tiny type, so the first pick listed at the top of the next column was their 2nd round pick. I look at the selection and saw some guy named Lambert as their first pick. Da fuq? Who?? Then noted that the Steelers had selected Lynn Swann in the 1st - knew who he was, thought, "Okay, that's better."
Did you all have indoor plumbing back then?

PERFEKT for the Rats

Hopefully they panic on Lamar and take Richardson. Then Lamar can sign and that would nullify a first round pick for them, at worst.

RAYSISS

Richardson is Lamar 2.0

see my post above!

:ROFLMAO: The house my Mom grew up in didn't, wood/coal stove and a hand pump in the front yard which I thought was way cool at the time.

Confluence is just embarrassed to admit his home had indoor plumbing, but he was not allowed to use it.

That’s what I keep coming back to about JP2 as far as the “if he wasn’t joeys son would everyone still want him?”

Breer, who previously though the Steelers would possibly trade up, is now stating the Steelers are leaning toward staying at 17 and going defense. They are really going all in on Matt Canada scheming something up for the offense, aren't they?

speaking from experience? what is going on in that S10 when I am not around?

All kinds of things…………….. Coolie is very messy at times so that’s why 1/2 the bench seat is Vinyl and a built in dam between driver and passenger………..

You’re always invited and can drive occasionally, the real deal drive.!!!
