Steelers -Eagles game thread.

I’m going to say this. Start Rudolph next week. If we do we go 6-3 the second half.
You are out of your mind. In no possible universe is this team finishing 6-3 with mason rudolph under center. How you can watch this shitshow display of absolute incompetence on offense, and come away with the opinion that this group of players and coaches are just a mason rudolph away from going 6-3 in their last 9 games is pure lunacy. Hell, a prime peyton manning would struggle to help this team to 5-4 in their last 9 games. Seriously, do you have any idea how absurd you sound???

He may be right, IF we had better offensive coaching. But Mason would get slaughtered trying to run this offense. Not a knock on him at all but he isn't the right skill set for this **** show. No one is.

Lot of mediocrity on both sides of the ball highlighted by even worse decision making. One thing I loathe more than losing is losing and in the process not even being remotely competitive. These days are far too often and not an anomaly.
Agree on not being competitive. And I can't believe Tomlin didn't challenge that catch.

Pickett and Harris both are slamming the team's preparedness.

All heat will be deflected from Tomlin in the media, though.
Players have been saying these kinds of things for years. Now that it's coming from first- and second-year guys opposed to veterans is even worse.

Which guy are you taking (Young, Stroud, or Levis)?

You're right, this is a terrible system for any quarterback or offensive player for that matter. Look at the YPR for the wide receivers over the past several seasons. Just awful. On top of this, the Steelers have a blueprint for failure for a young quarterback. A terrible offensive line, a poor running game, and a bad pass:run ratio. Pickett has 33 pass attempts per game in his five games played. That number doesn't include sacks or scrambles while Najee is averaging just over 13 carries per game. With that said, you need to connect on some down field throws and punch the ball into the end zone. Way too many turnovers as well.

No on Levis. I'd rather Mason Rudolph. I like that Young is coached up by Bill O'Brien so he knows pro concepts but it concerns me how small he is. Stroud has tools but look at how much Fields is struggling. That OSU system is pretty easy reads and he gets to stand back with all day to throw to multiple 1st round WRs that are usually open by a mile. He looked confused at time vs Penn State when they took away his first read.

I'm looking at Hooker now. He's aggressive and doesn't seem to get flustered. He's big. I also like that he had to work to get where he is and wasn't just handed a job on a loaded team.

Most would think that drafting another QB would mean you have to get rid of Pickett but why not have them compete for the new OC?

I am for picking the BPA so if that is clearly a QB then sobeit. Just not sure either of those highly touted 2 are franchise QBs. The more I look the lesser I am confident. Too early to throw in the towel on Pickett too. So give me a DE or T. Or trade down...

Browns passed om BIg Ben because they had Jeff Garcia (i think). You either have a franchise QB or you don't. If you don't have one and one is available you get him. Steelers need to do their homework because odds are Pickett will be good enough that they draft in the 20s most years and won't have a high pick for years.

This game was another reminder how Roethlisberger kept this team winning for all those years, including last year when he was a shell of his former self. They were probably a bottom 5 team without him at QB and I was one who thought another QB could come in and do better. I was flat out wrong. This team is a total mess and it has been for several seasons.

This.

I also believed a move on from Ben was due because his physical abilities had fallen off too much. But clearly, he held this team in games that we shouldn't have been in. And he won several games that we shouldn't have won. This team always played its best offense when Ben just took over in the no-huddle and called his own plays. But they also struggled early in every game when Canada was calling the shots. No running game for several seasons hasn't helped any QB.

GM Colbert hasn't done much of a job in quite a while.
He ignored the O-Line for season after season.
The last 5-6 drafts have been poor at best, with multiple swings and misses in early rounds where teams just can't afford to miss. Yet we did year after year.
Choosing to always re-sign from within rather than actually build with top free agents.

All of these practices and preferences have led to this current roster.

It's time that Omar becomes his own man and changes some of these practices. If it's going to be a really bad season then we have to make the most of the next draft. And be real players in Free Agency to increase some positions of weakness rather than re-signing the same ineffective players, or dabble in bargain basement free agents.

This cannot continue.

Just 23 months ago, the Steelers were 11-0 in Dec before it all fell apart. Ben was carrying water for Tomlin for at least the last 12 years.

We were in today’s game in the first. Still a possibility in the 2nd. But come the 3rd game was over. Pickett throwing back shoulder when Pickens is manned up with no safety. Dink and dunking when the middle is wide open. Blame Canada if you want. But watch the tape. The offense failed 75% because of Pickett. Canada deserves 25% of the blame.

I'm gonna type it again, if it helps you to slow down when you read it, then please do so. Hell, read it twice, or even three times if need be

*ahem*

No. Way. In. Hell. This. Team. Goes. Six. And. Three. In. Their. Last. Nine. Games. With. Your. Hero. Mason. Rudolph.

Who was to blame last year when the offense was failing? Ben 75% of the time as well?

This team isn’t going 6-3 with any QB. The scheme will never allow it.
