The Pittsburgh Steelers have been experiencing a late-season slide after losing three games in a row. The team has gone from 10-3 and being called possible Super Bowl contenders to 10-6 and being called frauds. Steelers fans are outraged, feeling duped, and worried that this season is the same old thing — the team likely will once again be one and done in the playoffs under Head Coach Mike Tomlin. That has them pointing fingers at nearly everyone on the team, including wide receiver George Pickens.

Yep, everyone giving Wilson a pass here, Reid read Wilson's eyes the entire time, Reid never even looked at Pickens.
Is anyone really surprised Pickens was lazy AF there?

Only a complete dumbass thinks Pickens route effected that interception

That was a dumbass throw into triple coverage by a vet QB. Pickens being 10-15 yards further down field would’ve done nothing but had the boundary CB a bit deeper too.

That was just a god awful throw by OldeRuss.

Just a few members of the media that have been pushing a lame narrative gunning for clicks
are trying to say that. Hell even Reid sets the story straight.

Luckily for all the GP haters he’ll find greener pastures somewhere else after next year and he’ll only be their problem when he’s playin the Steelers making Steelers DBs look stupid AF. And the Steelers will take 3 more steps back on offense when he departs.

Well Kurt Warner shot said it was on Pickens and the announcers also said it was on Pickens. I think they might know more than us. Personally I think it was partiality Pickens fault, but it was still a bad throw into at minimum double coverage.

I’ll take Reid’s word for what he saw on the play since he was on the field and made the play.

It’s popular for guys to pile
On GP for anything and everything
His name gets attention/clicks

It’s also popular for the QB fraternity to make excuses for other QBs, been that way forever.

Russ missed an easy checkdown
Russ missed a few easy checkdowns and has kinda sucked for a few weeks now.

Overrated from his little bit of success against a few tomato cans.

The Steelers will need far better QB play than he is capable of to overcome the shyte Tomlin scheme

If those “tomato” cans could up-graded to “gourmet pasta sauce” cans, we could have a chance. Of course they all would need to be upgraded and done so on the first trip to the grocery store. Until then,…… we will have to accept some rotten tomato play.

DangRUSS is not the answer and unfortunately some are saying this coming draft is very light on QBs. Russ or Justine need to be the bridge QB until we draft in ‘26. At that time we need to go all in on a top ranked, pass the eye test, type QB (not a run first).

If Coach Tomlin can’t show significant progress in season/playoff play, then can him end of ‘25 season so new coach can get his perceived guy.

NOTE: If blown away in this years PO, immediately firing of coaching staff and start the process of new coaching regime.

Meh....or.....Reid watches game film. The film showed that Pickens runs lazy routes so he cheated to the area he went? Just throwing that out there. I very well could be 100% wrong. Game film in the NFL shows so much.

Nate Burleson was the one who first pointed it out on the broadcast, and he's a former WR.

Perhaps all these former NFL players are wrong about the play, or maybe Reid is lying because he feels all the commentary being made about it somehow diminishes the play he made.

It's really not disputable that Pickens ****** effort made it easier for Reid to focus on the middle of the field. The question is how much so.

I tend to think Russ needs to see that Pickens wasn't getting downfield and not just assume that was the case.

Still doesn't absolve Pickens from his share of the blame.

This is a sneaky draft for QBs

There will be a couple taken earlier than they should (as always cuz it’s a QB needy league) looking at Sanders and Ward as guys that will be over drafted

But there will be some decent value in rounds 3-5 as there are many guys coming out that could be worthy of a mid-late flyer

I figured a guy like Beck would be about a 3rd rounder, his injury could push him to 5-6th.

Resign Allen on the cheap
Bring in cheapest vet starter they can
Grab a mid round QB for value
If Beck drops from injury spend a 5th on him (and IR him to stash him)

Then going into next year hopefully they have some young cheap depth and can grab a higher end QB (draft or FA) to throw in the mix as the starter.

Gotta start drafting and developing QBs tho
As well as continuing to invest in the trenches

Note: developing players also implies an assumption to move on from Mike
Someday to a coach that you know…coaches and doesn’t require finished products

Nor does it absolve the guy reading the field
And throwing the ball

There were better options

**** play all around

I agree with this. Pickens barely got off the line so the safety could ignore him. Even if Russ assumed Pickens ran off the safety the guy he threw to had inside and outside coverage on him. Both guys were at fault, but Pickens was definitely very lazy on the route

If you understand football, you know that Wilson’s job is a hell of a lot more difficult than Pickens. You understand why it’s a lot easier to find a good WR than a good QB. If Wilson erred, at least he was trying, unlike Pickens. **** Pickens and anyone who tries to excuse his failures. Go back to watching soccer.

Charles Johnson, Yanceng TYhigpen, Eric Green, did we have any issues ——- diva-wise——— with any of them?

We didn’t “hostage” ourselves back then either. George has us hostage as we have nothing behind him, he knows this.

GP hasn’t even done anything but just be quirky.
AB has given some of these fans anxiety.

The fact that a pro athlete who gets their paycheck regardless of a win or loss even gets under the skin of some is another thing beyond comprehension.

He’s definitely lacked a bit of the effort he displayed at Gerogia. But the Dawgs have a winning culture.

The accountability Kirby brings to the table and the expectations and support/coaching he provides players as compared to Mikey is the difference between eating a double bacon BLT and a gigantic **** sandwich.

Not doing his job by quitting on routes or not blocking is just him being quirky? WTF? It’s costing his team. That’s bullshit.
I am sure Mikey has talked with him. All will be good come 8pm Saturday. I am sure of it.

He has been more than quirky. Quitting on several plays, getting dumb personal fouls, sulking on the sideline, not engaging win teammates when they score, etc etc. I think ABs problems were overlooked because he put it all out on the field and also worked hard of the field whether it was staying in shape or catching balls before / after practice on the machine. Pickens just seems to mentally check out. I'm sure he is very frustrated and I don't blame him, but he has to keep his head in the game

Tomlin stated Pickens route running had zero to do with the int in question by Reid. So I guess all the hate towards Pickens isn't warranted here.

Those guys were pre- social media. That crap has ruined lots of things and people's perceptions. Not this forum of course...LOL. I'm talking Twatter, Faceass, and all the others.

Two things should be crystal clear:
First: Despite the clear wishes of most of this board, Tomlin isn't going anywhere unless 1) we have a change in ownership for someone who really wants to win; 2) Tomlin decides to retire; or 3) Tomlin joins Jimmy Carter in the hereafter.

Second: The 2026 draft will be conducted by the same folks who brought us Kenny Pickett and another non-losing season means we will be drafting in the middle again. It's highly unlikely we will get a franchise QB under that scenario. While KP got a bad deal in Pittsburgh, it was fairly clear that he was not a franchise QB.

These are issues I have no real response too. I’m just a fan watching on a weekly basis.

All the off field stuff ultimately falls on owners and coaches.
