Steelers Lions game thread #RudolphGuideUs2aWin

Lions haven't won a game. I'm sure they're THRILLED to be in it at this point. Particularly after what I understand was an impressive opening drive by the Steelers.

Wig, the Steelers keep every game close, no matter how unbelievably bad the opponent. In fact, MORE SO when the opponent blows goats.

The offense needs a lot more WR screens and shallow crossing patterns.

I know, I know, the mighty Lions defense is crushing those plays which is why they will be shocked - SHOCKED! - when the team starts the 2nd half with 8 straight WR screens and shallow crossing patterns!!
Cross? No way. Do the shallow flare route, depending on one WR to block 3 defenders in order to get the ball to the L.O.S.
Then watch the POPCORN!

This is basically the same bad team that went 11-0 to start last season. Last year’s team was just luckier. Neither team is good.

I can only assume that Matt Canada is NOT the problem with this short passing game. They've been stuck in this mode for 3 years now. I have to believe that for some reason Tomlin thinks THIS is the offense of the future and he's requiring the O coords to implement it.
I think it is more to do with the line than anything else.

I know. It's been a LOT of cardio for the fans this season.

Our Coaches just don’t put our players in position to make plays pure and simple Im turned this mess off got better stuff to do. call me when we figure out how to pass the ball past the line of scrimmage.. run a simple trap… maybe a sweep.. or stop the other team when it matters! Go Steelers!
Nice post...spot on.

I am confident that Tomlin will go 1-DL, 7 DB to slow down the Lions amazing passing game.

It worked so damn well against the Seahawks, why change?!?

That first drive was impressive. I have no clue why we break away from things that work.

No. They had a fine line 3 years ago when Ben went out. Sure it was Rudolph, but he started out just fine. As the season progressed the moved to more and more short throws, & long-distance hand-offs.
They've stuck with it ever since. When they went 11-0, they had a QB good enough to make throws and reads to make it sorta work until pretty much every team in the league just put 10 guys inside 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.
And they just KEPT calling the same ******* plays.

Lucky we got that flag....Detroit is simply outplaying us today.

Lions are single-cover on Johnson basically every first down, and giving Freiermuth the middle of the field, 10 yards and deeper.

Maybe go to Johnson play-action against man coverage on 1st down? Or Freiermuth more than 2 yards from the LOS play-action, 1st down?

The big problem is on defense. The offensive problems are personnel problems, O-line, backup QB, Chase out, etc. The D whenever Detroit runs the ball(and that's the only thing working for them) have 10 men on the field because Bush is worthless. They are in this game because of lack of tackling and it starts with 55.

Fitzpatrick hopefully isn't signed long-term. I would take Edmonds over him at this point simply because his costs will be very very low. And we get the same play from them. Mirror images of each other. Seriously though. He needs to learn how to TACKLE...among other things.

Hey...what is the official word on Tuitt? He hurt, or still grieving, or what?? Thanks

They really should just sit Bush

Don't worry, that run up the gut will probably only work like 8 more times before the steelers adjust

I think they did that in response to the line declining. And the stink of Fichtner hasn’t been fully washed off yet.

Another injury.

Nice. Coach T. has his excuse. Not that he makes excuses mind you.

Bush has definitely been getting bullied against the run.

Considering all those draft picks they invested in him, he has been a disappointment.

As I said above. Goff is hurt and thrown only 7 times for 11 yards. Stop the DAMN run.

****. If I am the Steelers I want Goff to throw.
