That being the case I'd love to know what Tomlin believes he is paid to do - after all if it's the players responsibility to know their job and motivate themselves, why do the Steelers need a head coach?
The first part is alarming. They should be teachers. That's why some players have stated they learned a tremendous amount more playing elsewhere than they ever did playing for the Steelers.
This you're on your own **** is a massive reason why they will never reach elite status again.
The second part I'm with the coaches on. Motivation!
" If I have to motivate you, I will fire you " - Chuck Noll
You have to be self motivated. All of that rah rah **** doesn't last long. If you can't develop a deep drive to be the best, you're in the wrong profession. It has to be more than money.
With that being said, a toxic work environment filled with half *** workers can knock the wind out of anyone's sails. Especially when your success is dependent on a collective group functioning as one. If your bosses or coaches in this case are poor and give you no chance at reaching your collective goal, you have serious problems.
A very disgruntled workplace will follow. The workers vs fuckoffs. I'm sure every single person who has worked long enough has experienced this.
