Steelers moving to Mexico?

With some claiming that since Jags play in London each year, it means they are moving there, I wonder if the Steelers are pondering a move to Mexico since they are considering giving up a HOME GAME to play in Mexico City.

Why, ON EARTH would they consider giving up home field advantage to play in Mexico instead? As tight as things are when it comes down to making the playoffs, and having a higher seed in the postseason, why the F would they consider giving up 1/8th of home field advantage and playing a game on a neutral site instead of benefiting the cosy confines of Heinz? Someone better give Rooney a mental exam.
 
I see a 2025 move to Mexico.

Steelers have a decent Mexican fan base. It doesn't surprise me one bit that the place the team is going to play is there...

A preseason game wouldn't bother me in the least. Giving up a home game in the regular season would be foolish, beyond comprehension. We would likely have more fans in Mexico City than whoever we played (unless it was Dallas). But it still won't compare to a true home game at Heinz. Tha is way too much an advantage in an attempt to make the NFL product "global." That would be truly a moronic move.
 
Not moving there but I, for one, am pissed they volunteered a home game to play there. I can see a pre-season game but definitely not a regular season game.

The NFL is insistent on pushing international regular season games. It's only a matter of time before ALL teams are required to give up one home game every couple of years.
 
If I were a season ticket holder, I would be pissed. How would that affect the price? I'm sure the season ticket prices would be reduced to accommodate the missed game, right? Or they would fly you to the game & put you up in a nice hotel with chickens grazing in the parking lot, right? </Sarcasm off>

The Rooney's are super liberal. They are very anti-discrimination (Rooney Rule) and that is extended to illegals and the Mexican people.
 
This is the reason the league wanted to increase to 17 to 20 regular season games... it gave them more neutral site options. If you don't think the league is gung ho about getting into the London and Mexican (and Toronto) markets you haven't been paying attention, though it wont be a traditional franchise that moves...

If you look at the NFL profitable franchises list... there are certain teams always near the bottom... Oakland, Jacksonville, The rams(who just moved) Detroit, The Bills... these are the ones that probably should be worried about a move... The bills would be a natural fit for Toronto... Jacksonville has been groomed for England for years now... the other teams should be worried if the league doesn't expand
 
Way I read it, though the Steelers have played international games (London Last I believe), they haven't gave up a home game yet. I thought Rooney was big on Ireland, but it sounds like Mexico. Short trip at least.

The Steelers are HUGE in Mexico. Would most likely be a home game...just like San Diego, Washington, St. Louis, etc...
 
Hilarious. Here's the quote from Rooney:

“We only have a handful of teams that don't mind giving up a home game, and they are the ones kind of in the mix,” Rooney said. “That is definitely a challenge. It is a challenge for us. We would like to play in some of these games, but we are not anxious to give up a home game. Maybe some year, we may have to do it once.”

Of course Rooney has to say he is "reluctant." It would be a colossally unpopular move to the fans in Pgh. What do you expect him to say? "We think it's a great idea to reduce our home field advantage by a game, and take away a home game from the fans in the city?"
