Steelers - Raiders game thread. #ImmaculatelyNumb

Hot as hell In the stands.
Could be we need a new QB OR try a change of pace and put Rudolff in and actually open up the reins. Ben may be done sooner than later and I don't see him next year here. This is not based on a one game decision and I hope like hell I have to eat CROW on this.

It does seem that way. If he was full contact working out full training camp would this have happened sooner ??? It's hard to say but it does suck that he gets paid in full then gets hurt 1 1/2 games in.

well considering a bunch of other guys who didn’t hold out had injuries hard to blame the holdout.

Total team fail today.
Offense never had any identity and to top it off lost composure in the form of Trai Turner.

Defense started decent, but lost their best playmaker. Given these guys are pros, I expect the well paid coaches to have the backups ready as well.
How many backups can you have ready when you lose Watt, Haden, Alualu, Bush all at once. All Pro bowl caliber guys if not actual pro bowlers. Spillane looks ok against the run but is a travesty against the pass. If Bush misses next week we have to go with Johnson sink or swim. Schobert is good in coverage but not as fast as we needed against a stud like Waller. Being at the game I truly feel we win this if we don’t lose those guys.

It was also hot as **** there today. I smell
like I just played.

You called him out and I disagree. Yes lots to go around but I think he did what he could. We definitely need a running game to take the pressure off him.
I called him out because he hasn't produced enough points. He doesn't get all of that blame but the D has done their share to keep the Steelers wheel turning... 2 1st half fails isn't doing enough. That will put you in bad situational football 9 out of 10 times. And if you are doing that you better be able to carry the team in the second half. **** I am going to praise the HOFer to death here and there. But when you can do better on the field I am going to say it. Some of it is their pansy QB approach in the off-season of lack or reps. Some is a new Oline. But some yes is Ben.

Why not? Dj runs a **** ton of wrong routes, quits on routes and has that lead to an INT and Claypool lets his fair share hit him in the hands and drops them. But, they still get targets. At the expense I would argue of players who are open and will catch the ball, like 'Muth and JuJu.
Yep....JuJu seems to be the 2nd or 3rd option most of the time. And Washington doesn't even see the field. As I said early in this thread I would have sat Claypool for a few serious and gave Washington his time.
Johnson caught the one pass along the sideline and looked as if he could walk into the EZ but instead ran out of bounds.
Bounds of talent in this WR group....unfortunately they don't look the part. When Ben has time to throw at times he has to hold onto the ball.....WRs seem to have an issue creating separation. Is it the player or the system? Last season we had the same issue. Oh well. I am sure Tomlin will get it all straightened out by next week.

What is with all the WR bashing? Some think this is the best group in the league or steelers history....JuJu is getting shafted by the coaching staff. He has been the most consistent guy, but is relegated to short possession throws. The staff needs to give him a shot especially with everyone else being so inconsistent

I don't think the WR group is that talented. They are just guys. Nothing special about any of them.

For perspective, Sam Darnold is making it work with guys like DJ Moore, Dan Arnold, Brandon Zylstra, Robby Anderson and Ian Thomas. Yes, that Sam Darnold.

Who thinks that? Did they say it with a straight face? The eye test tells you that isn't true.

Bush seems to be hurt more then he’s on the field. Less social media and more actual training

Washington had a bad drop today.
Yes but over the last couple years, he seems to do a pretty good job on contested throws and for the most part sure handed. He may not be as quick as Johnson or present the target that Claypool does but what the heck, give the guy some playing time. What do they have to lose, if Johnson is quitting or running the wrong route and Claypool is still reading the clippings from the beginning of last season, maybe it's time for some self reflection while resting on the sideline.

Definately BEN included in the problem. 39 years old is not spry and slow to move, can't change that. If you need to try and jump start you go ahead and sub in the young gun or 2nd stringer, like it or not.

Am I saying Rudolf is the amswer, no but I am saying we needed a boost in QB play and didn't get it from BEN today.

YES, Ben needs to be held accountable as well as everyone else. I've coached a lot of different sports and sometimes you need to do the unexpected. Maybe today isn't that day but it is coming unless BEN steps it up a little.

Lol Sarge. All off season long that’s all I heard here. Best receiving group in the league....who’s Going to be able to stop this offense with new draft Harris & Pat. Probably the same were saying how Matt Stafford is a loser, has never done anything blah ,blah ,blah, blah. Sure would have been interesting to see what a top tier QB would have done with this team the last Several years. Ben has been average at best for many years now.

Unrelated, but, I'm watching Vikings/Cardinals and I'm wondering who is this big, muscular, RB playing for the Cards? They keep saying it's James Conner, but James never got built like that when he was in Pittsburgh. This guy looks like he's been training to avoid injury ... definitely not Conner.

Its better than last place

the vast majority of nfl players are slightly more intelligent than a brick… it’s refreshing when you get a brain with the brawn, but also kind of rare
Sure but its week 3. When its week 16 and they're in first place, I'll be excited. Week 3? Still a **** ton of football left to play

Its the red jersey, makes guys look bigger

Maybe there's someone better at the end of the bench aching and ready to go. 🤣

I think he'd do great in a situation where he had a line and a running game, but that's just me.

Probably not but at some point you have to do what is best for the team. That time perhaps isn't here yet. But it is close.

Not sure if you lived through the drought between Bradshaw and Ben but if you did you might understand my hesitancy to throw him under the bus even if he does it to himself which makes him the an awesome leader. When Rudy outperforms him, I'll agree.

Slash, how do you think Ben would do if he has a decent line and a running game?

I lived through that yes. There comes a time with every QB regardless who is behind them that it well is just time. Rudy might not be the answer but the coaches apparently think he is capable of winning some games. I know there is a tendency to hold on. I get it. And he deserves some more games obviously to see if he can work out the kinks.

Hey maybe they will put him in next week. What would you think if he is the starter and Ben is healthy? How long would you go with an inept offense before you call on Ben?

I'm not trying to lead the Ben parade here but if the Steelers have a chance in hell this year, it's going to depend on the defense leading the charge every game because we have no line, no running game and receivers that don't know their *** from a hole in the ground. Don't make it worse by removing the one decent cog they have on offense.

We both know they will ride with Ben until the end of the season provided he is healthy. And when the injured come back they will win enough games for some to be happy. I would say just don't expect a fairy tale ending. I am also not throwing out a week to pull him. That is their mess to figure out. They brought him back and kept Rudy. It is what it is I guess you could say. Again a good team but not a great one.
