Steelers release Mason Cole

With the unexpected hike in salary cap that should bring the team to about 9 million under. And I imagine they will do something with Robinson and or Peterson's contract as well.

Cole seemed like a good dude, just didn't have it this year on the field. Best of luck with his new team!

The Steelers under Tomlin tried to go the cheap, less talented route at center before and it failed miserably. I don't know why they tried it again with Green and Cole. It's like they don't learn from their mistakes.

Hopefully both only because the cap hit does not match the production.
Especially with Robinson. He was flat out pretty much a non factor minus the occasional good block...

Patrick isn't a starting caliber CB anymore.

They definitely need to cut bait...

I think the Steelers are going to bring in a free agent C. They have been trying to build the O-line up. They will want to do it quickly with Cole history and a new OC. I think they will double dip at the position drafting one potentially high too... As you don't throw off a C that could be a backup if you aren't entertaining a free agent pickup IMO.

I am thinking there is two solid options that IMO would be a clear upgrade over Cole.

Tyler Biadasz Cowboys and Lloyd Cushenberry. I lean towards Biadasz as my favorite option but Cush isn't far behind.

Corner and Center rds 1 and 2 is my guess OR corner and RT. Not sure which one first but Corner I would think. Need a RT or a C through FA.

not sure how I feel about Cole being cut free, I also thought he would be a backup. oh well lets hope we go forward with the oline and not status quo or backwards.

I do not hate the move, Cole was just bad. My only concern is now we are really desperate at center
