Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

Lol the sad part is some of things he is doing in practice are the things some said he wouldnt he able to do. Take hits and actually survive. Beat linebackers. Run the football as a RB. Play in the slot. Return punts. But oh well already know what willl be said next. Its not a game. Then it will be its just preseason. Then it will be its just one game. Then lets see him do it for a whole season, two seasons....

And while I have heard him needing to work on routes, dropping some balls here and there I havent heard one thing about him fumbling. Hope I didnt just jinx him.

Well ****, here I thought the guy got a few yards at running back in college too,

Yes, a few. He was injured constantly and forced into part-time duty, but he did indeed play some RB.

Lots of guys who touched the ball 800 times in college who couldn't handle the NFL, too.

I had no idea he was just a track guy who never wore pads. I wish someone would research these guys a bit, and not just look at their speed. Maybe the Steelers could look into hiring a group of people to do that.

Not never; just rarely.

Have you ever, in your life, disagreed with a draft pick or Steeler decision? I'm putting my money on "No, I don't form my own opinions on things." But if you have, you're a flaming hypocrite.

Well, if he does it in the first week of training camp, then I guess he's golden. LOL And if you get all of your information from Steeler beat writer tweets.

You act like it's ****** to expect a guy to do more than catch punts in practice. Fred Gibson was phenomenal in his first preseason. I'd rather see him do something in a game, personally. But I know you live in a Madden world, and that's not your thing.

Damn, I'm not around too much any more but at least I made a list..........

Lmao where else exactly am I supposed to get training camp updates? Im not there. I live in NJ. And of course I want to see it in games too. But if he isnt doing it practice whats the chances he will in games?

I act like nothing.. These are all things you said he couldnt do buddy against NFL caliber athletes. You are the one who said he wont seem as fast against NFL players who are all saying he has elite speed. Like I said I already know your bullshit so hopefully what he is doing in practice will translate over to the games

My point is that they're all but worthless, and you're taking them as gospel, which is kind of like watching a coach's press conference to "learn" about where the team is at these days.

So doing it in training camp means he can do it in the games? It just works out that way? Fantastic. I wish we'd drafted Usain Bolt.

Do what now?

With all due respect, I'm working hard to translate this and reply to it

I, for one, appreciate the twitter updates. I know they're not official and are essentially as worthless as an Idiot's self-esteem, but they do let me (and others) know what is going on in camp today. I'd much rather know today what happened than to wait until tomorrow to read about today's happenings.

if we're going to **** all over twitter updates, we may as well **** all over broadcast news and just wait until tomorrow morning and read about it in the paper.

I mean the majority of them except for the ones from Alex Kozora(Steeler Depot) are from writers from the major Pittsburgh papers but whatever.

I read them too, and I appreciate your (constant) posting of them. But I don't spout them as gospel, or as "proof" that Rookie X or Billy Fatbody are going to be great this year because they're CRUSHING our backup's backup's backups in camp drills.

and THIS is exhibit A-88321 of your over-the-top-dickheadedness that brings on the assaults.

is anyone saying that we are now fielding All-Pros at every position and backup? no.
it's merely guys exhibiting exuberance because football is starting.

stop being such a ******* dripping *****.

Wrong. I've got your puppy antdrewjosh telling me that Archer's training camp punt returning performance is proof that I was wrong about the guy.

stop being such a ******* dripping *****.

Says the dude who hasn't stopped posting about me, on one corner of the internet or another, for ten years running.

clearly that ball was delicately handed to him as he ran down the sideline, just before he was smeared like a bug on a windshield as an out-of-position Lawrence Timmons impeded Archer's way to the trainer's room for an MRI and CAT scan.

you did say he couldn't catch the ball. guess you've been/being proven wrong daily.

says the ***** who ONLY posted in this thread after a self-imposed exile, and then ONLY quoting me.

just stop it.

you forgot while he avoided MT stepping onto the field

knew I left out something!

However, the great thing about an NFL Draft is it's just that--a draft. Despite projections and despite labels that rookies may acquire based on their time in college and pre-draft workouts such as the NFL Combine, nobody knows what they're capable of until they strap on a helmet and pads and go to work at training camp.

From this article.

http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.co...-wide-receiver-depth-chart-2014-training-camp

If only some here could actually grasp this concept, we have taken a topic that started with "gee, I wonder what he can do, what do you guys think" and gnashed teeth over 125 pages now, and we're no wiser because he still hasn't played a down in the NFL. It's fun to watch, but I fail to see the value in it, again, other than entertainment, which is I suppose what I come to the site for anyway. Carryon.
