Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

thing is, TMC - look at the illegal contact flags that are thrown downfield. If Archer drops 50% of them but gets calls for a first down 50% of the time...

All the time?? Cmon TMC he does not do it ALL THE TIME. That was a case of trying to run before he had the ball.

Willie Reid kept injuring his feet IIRC. I don't remember him ever doing anything of importance in a regular season game.

I went to one game when Reid was on roster. I watched Reid, in sweatpants, stay as far away from Tomlin as he cold. Tomlin would walk down the sideline and Reid would go back behind everyone else and walk the opposite way.

are you equating our special teams guys to being on the same level as the Kent State special teams guys?
seriously? you know that's a reach.
We have had times when I would equate our special teams guys to any bad college special teams play. Now the rest of the nfl that's a different matter.

The more video I see posted of this kid the more I want to see if he is the exception to the size argument in the nfl. He has some drops and fumbles and is fairly easy to tackle when caught. I have not seen a kid that seems to leave linebackers squirming on the ground grabbing air the way this kid does. He is fast and seems to make people miss as well. If he is used in the pony backfield and gets a pass or a hand-off two or three times a game he could have an impact bigger than his size. This kid seems to be effective on draws and screens as well.

I have my doubts about his durability and maybe I would have rather had a different player but this kid is something to watch.

In the end, we can all agree that it's become perfectly clear that Dri Archer will be just fine, regardless of all the bellyaching amongst the non-believers.

With that said, I think we can now put this thread to rest, which lasted an impressive 65 pages. Thanks to everyone who participated!

It wasn't easy, it wasn't quick, but through honest and open debate we have reached the conclusion that Archer is much better than advertised. He'll be an immediate impact player, kudos to the Steelers for a brilliant pick at the end of 3rd round. Adios!

Contact? Anyone that contacts him down the field is an idiot. You can just reach up and knock it away. He won't challenge for it. Hell, wide open, it is a 50-50 proposition for him catching it.

Maybe they should punt it to him and put him in shorts on a windy day.

I see you've gotten on the Dri Bandwagon!

Dave really needs to install a Crayola font.

What I'm saying, and please try to follow along...read it slowly and sound out every word.

Kent State's special teams may have ******* sucked. As in sucked very, very bad. If that is the case, and it is a hypothesis at this point, then it could also be opined that the coach decided to not put his best overall offensive player back there returning punts, considering the likelihood of his teammates not making blocks would or could exponentially increase his best offensive player's chances of committing a turnover or suffering an injury.

It's really not that difficult to understand what I'm saying unless you just want to ******* argue. If that is the case, then I'll end this now by saying Archer is black and anything you say he cannot do stems from your deep-seated racism.

And what has changed from college to the NFL? You know the Steeler special teams are not even average right? K. State was worried he would get hurt or fumble... why would the Steelers not worry about the same thing? The players in the NFL are bigger, stronger, and faster. But continue to try to make excuses to just argue.

ok. you're right. 100% correct. the ****** has absolutely NO CHANCE at all. Whatsoever to make any NFL team. He should slap his momma for giving birth to him and kick his dad in the jimmy for impregnating the woman.

damn. I sure hope he can find his life's calling since Vader, the all knowing and ever-wise, has deemed Dri incapable of ever being on an NFL roster.

Great day. got some work done around the house, grilled, and am about 1/2 sober.

life is good....

I have two clips, will take 2 posts. This is the shorter one.....

Little grainy, but I have to work with what is out there....

I have found nothing in your post to agree with. The thread will rest when there is no one who wants to post on it. It has not become perfectly clear that he will be just fine. I saw nothing in the way of bellyaching taking place just people that disagree with you, and their belief may have nothing to do with Archer, so calling them non believers might be just too much.

The pot has been stirred!
What's in it has yet to come to the surface!!

(Stirs the pot really fast)!!!!!!!!

This has been my point of contention with all the anti-Archer hysteria. It's so over the top...some people hate this kid with a vengeance. Doesn't make sense to me, since he's a part of the team now.... Why people don't say, "hey, I didn't necessarily like the pick when it happened, but man, am I rooting for him to make a splash, hope he kicks *** and helps us win some games."
