Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

Whaaaattt Heath thinks Archer will have to be paid attention too. That his presence on the field will open up things for the other playmakers. Whaaaat?? Our Linebackers are having trouble covering him suggesting maybe teams will have to commit a DB to him. One less DB covering AB MW LM JB. Defenses forced to be in nickle vs Our bruising RBs. Well what the **** does Heath now. The man of few words.

Obviously Heath does NOT read this board. Someone get him the link to the Archer thread, stat. He doesn't want to look foolish in the esteemed eyes of the learned Steeler Nation fandom, surely.

Your sarcasm detector is broken.

If only all 32 teams knew all you need was a 40 time. God, they feel stupid! "Why didn't we just draft Jacoby Ford #1 overall and let him run around/past EVERYONE?!?"

Because when a teammate says "This guy is fast," you shut up and listen. Talk about an objective, unbiased source. His goddamn teammate. LOL. Todd Haley came in his pants when we drafted Chris Rainey, and so did Ben.

This place needs dobre back, if only to stop the bleeding of (a) your *******, and (b) posts like these.

Apparently all 32 teams don't know quite a bit, since, as I said before, there will be first rounders who bust out, and there will be UDFA prospects who end up in the pro bowl. One thing I do know, a fast rb can be coached in some things. A slow rb can also be coached in some things. The slow rb will never be much faster than he is when you get him, the fast rb might one day take much better angles, and heck, might even be you could coach him to return punts and such.

Al Davis would have had him in the first round, much like DHB a few years back. Luckily for us, Al Davis is dead, and you douchers weren't in the draft room when the selection was made.

Dri Archer makes nice over the shoulder the catch on 7 on 7 drill. Second TD pass this drill that Gradkowski has out right on the money.

It appears that Archer has been making these types of plays on a daily basis. Could be the reason Heath thinks he'll be a weapon and also why he's being talked about for more than just his speed. It's only pre-season, but the kid seems to be establishing a strong body of work during practice, etc. that points to him as an NFL caliber player.

Nope nothing to see here just speed. All he has.

I posted Haley's press conference in this very thread. He just about shot in his pants describing the new dimension our offense had.

well, yeah, but isn't that just the coaching staff just putting a positive spin on bullshit? I mean, you said so your very self just ONE page ago, hypocriteque

Sigh.

Yes, it is. Thank you for providing more support to my stance. The lesson: teammates telling us how fast a fast rookie is.. doesn't show much correlation to success.

Here's a fun exercise: scan the league for all coach/teammate babble you hear about Player X having his best camp ever, catching everything, averaging X yards per Y in 7-on-7s, running with the first team, first to show up last to leave, etc.. then revisit it during the season. Hell, even during final cuts. But yeah, let's just swallow down every drop of jizz SPREADSHEET SPREADSHEET KOBE IDIOTEQUE'S MOUTH JIZZ SPREADSHEET PLEASE GIVE ME KARMA SPREADSHEET SPREADSHEET that comes from a guy's teammates and coaches 20 minutes after he's drafted. It's all true. Didn't we just hear from Ben how great and valuable Lance Moore has been? Almost immediately followed by reports of Justin Brown cutting into his slot snaps and even threatening his job. Terry Hawthorne ring a bell? Fred Gibson? Rainey? Wheaton as a rookie? Tim Tebow with the Jets, maybe? There are literally 100s of examples over the past few years. Today, Raider sources gushed over Darren McFadden's amazing preseason. Said he's averaging 20 yds/rush in "controlled scrimmages." BenJarvus Green-Ellis has been lauded by teammates all offaeason. On my way to Vegas to lay it all down on Darren McFadden and BenJarvus Green-Ellis, let me tell you.

Archer could well be a fine player in this league, but Heath Miller's preseason quotes mean nothing. I'm gonna go ask the CEO and execs at Pepsi if they think Pepsi is any good.

Spreadsheet Kobe spreadsheet. I'm gonna head into GD and make more spreadsheet jokes in random threads. Spreadsheet jizz spreadsheet. Google jizz Timdong spreadsheet Google spreadsheet.

Pepsi's great, but they can't move the football like Budwiser...

Thank god for Idioteque for helping us all keep things in perspective. What we would we all do with out him. I mean youve made your point over and over. Yet here we are 140 pages in and your still trying to temper the enthusiam for anything Archer related. Typing titangraphs lmao against any postive Archer related news. Then ***** about this thread still going while contributing freely not forced at all.. lol.

How many of my posts in here over the last month or so were initiated by me, and how many were in response? How many times here lately have I just popped in to rip Archer out of the sheer blue sky? Or is it mostly me taking the bait from those of you who just can't get me out of your minds and bring me up bi-daily.

Temper the enthusiasm? Not really my intention. I'm a little enthused myself; he's as fast as advertised and had a nice preseason debut. I just don't think he's Barry Sanders + Wes Welker + Devin Hester x Jim Thorpe juuuust yet. The reason you just saw me get all Debbie Downer about Heath's preseason soundbytes is because I was told anyone who doesn't buy into coachspeak is a ******* idiot. I think it's the reverse, and history backs me there.

I don't see that many "Archer looks awesome!" posts anymore. It's mostly "Archer looks awesome and anyone who disagrees isn't a real fan and ****** my sister and shot JFK and OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THIS IS SUCH BULLSHIT WHY DON'T YOU WANT TO BLOW DRI ARCHER OMG OMG!!"

good job.. hang on to all you got..... pretty thin,,,, good hustle though!

One of the funniest things I have ever seen on here. It was something like "Your post makes mine look wrong and stupid so will you delete it please?" I probably would've forgotten that by now if not for the sheer irony. You're now beating the "Quit taking yourself so seriously! Who cares about being right?!?" drum, fresh off of begging me to delete my posts to save you from looking stupid. If only I had that degree of skill.

Really? I've seen about 1,500 posts in here about Archer's play, not his value.

Seems to me his play (in real games) will determine his value. I like the pick (well, it's grown on me since the draft), but, I'm not willing to anoint him as either an All-Star or a bust until he proves himself to be one or the other in games that matter. In the meantime, I've heard and seen good things concerning him.

Idioteque/Vader/TMC et al reading upbeat camp reports on Archer... :)
