That's always been the enigma of Kniles Davis since his college scouting report. I mean the size/speed/athleticism is special. He's 227 lbs. and ran a 4.37. And there was film of him one-on-one against college level guys and just destroyed them.
But he's never fixed his negatives. He's not a cradle back and has terrible vision between the tackles. He takes a lot of "for loss" runs. He is not a good pass protector or blitz pickup guy. He fumbles and has a small hand (8 5/8").
I mean, if he gets clean blocking and can get to the edge on someone his speed is sneaky even at the NFL level. Secondary guys can take bad angles on him. He is decent at screen passes (although there will be occasional drops) because he can accelerate well and pick up chunks of yards quick. He is above average on kickoff returns (although that is kind of pointless against half the kickers in the league now).
It's an okay depth signing, but he's not a De'Angelo Willams type backup that can come in as a replacement starter, carry the ball 25 times and pick up 120 yards. That's just not his thing.
